WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C97D21, 26 points 3 rollovers owed, 5 water, 1194 calories
Up .6 today.
A lot of collateral walking today but nothing official. DH wanted wonton soup with an eggroll for dinner so I treated myself to the same. This time I counted the points rather than isolating it which explains the higher than usual points.
Kathy – Disappointing I know, but just think how well you did for long periods of time. I remember your sugar free days. I hope you'll make it a habit to check in daily. I have every confidence that you'll get back on the beam sooner rather than later. I love your plan. We're here for you. Use us!!
Jan – As I understand it, the black cherry juice reduces inflammation – so that takes in arthritis, spinal stenosis, gout, etc. DS has not had the surgery. He tried a stem cell procedure but no help so he's not doing it again. He's stalling as long as he can for the surgery. I'm so impressed that you wait to be hungry to have the balance bar. It wouldn't last a half hour for me regardless of hunger <g>
Lori – I used to try those Morningstar veggie burgers but prefer the 93% ground beef – same points and more appealing to me. 2 oz serves the purpose for me at 2 points and 85 calories... sometimes with a bun but usually without. When points are an issue I'll have a 99% fat free ground turkey burger for zero calories. I only like those with a bun, chopped onions and ketchup.

C40. D2. OP. Tracking. Exercise. Whew - made it through one day.
Am planning food for my 6 days on the road (Monday - Saturday). I'll be making dinner for myself 4 nights, so plan to bring some frozen pork and beef and they can keep my cooler cold for part of the trip. One of my best friends is joining me for Wednesday-Saturday, so that will be fun. We are doing a writing retreat to catch up on all the professional writing (reports, articles, etc...) and some personal writing (she is a playwright). So that will be fun.
Nancy - thank you for the words of encouragement!! I will keep checking in here. And it does seem that sugar free is the way to go. I bought myself some FF CoolWhip (to the surprise and jokes of my kids - because it is basically spun corn syrup) and ate that with a cup of blueberries yesterday. I didn't crave more sweets and was satisfied. I'll bring a container with me on my trip for sweet treat with low points (1 point for 5 Tablespoons).
Jan - you are amazing at fitting in all the activity in your days! Way to go! I got a kayak for my birthday last weekend and plan to include that in my activity life.
Lori - I was a vegetarian for 7 years and enjoyed the garden burgers. Now we raise grassfed beef and when I do the comparison of our lean beef nutrition to chicken breast, it is close. It's the processed meats that are an issue, in my opinion. Glad you had a change of pace at work. My daughter is volunteering at her college and was assigned the class of 1954. She is loving it!
Cindy!! So nice to see you back.
I hope that EDESIA, Beth, Meg, Jane and all the others are doing well. I miss our larger group. Even when I don't check in, I'm thinking of you all.
Kathy

21 points 1427 calories 12 APs
Oh my gosh, did I ever pay for my Friday activities yesterday. I had to sub an 8 AM interval class and I was so fatigued. It was worse knowing I still had to teach my 10 AM step class, which I have to actually do and and not just instruct. I had time in between so I used the foam roller. It made a huge difference.
Lori, I’m not a terribly fast rider, so 30 miles took me about 2.5 hours. It’s actually very relaxing if the path isn’t busy. I saw a couple of cats, a really cute dog (by a Mennonite home), and a turtle. The trail went past some farms, over swampland, and by a large outdoor supply business. I’ve been wanting to try the impossible burger but haven’t seen them here. We don’t eat out often and I never remember to look in the grocery store. Eight points is high, and I’m guessing that didn’t include the bun.
(((Kathy))) I think of you often, and miss you when you don’t check in. Good thinking planning travel when your boys are at camp. You will LOVE the kayak! It’s even more peaceful than the bike path!
Nancy, I forgot that your husband had spinal stenosis. He’s smart to put the surgery off.

Kathy, we cross posted. I never knew you were a vegetarian for a time. Commercial farming is one of the main reasons I don’t eat meat, and I know that was probably true for you too. I love that you raise your own animals and treat them humanely.

Hi Ya'll! C1D6 (what a difference going to bed earlier makes!) Friday was so busy for me, just kinda hung loose yesterday. Weighed this morning and was down 4 lbs, but always have a good weight lose when getting back on program. Kathy, love your birthday present. That will be fun and good exercise too! Nancy, sorry to hear about DH needing surgery. You and Jan always are an incentive to me in the exercise dept. Well, just got home from church. Going to fix lunch. Love you all, Cindy

Just finished getting everything ready for our trip. Enjoying lunch on the deck. What a beautiful day!! After this trip, we have nothing planned the rest of the summer. Plan on enjoying being home!
Nancy, can you tell me more about the cherry juice? What benefits you see? Where do you get it, how much you drink and how you count it? Thinking of incorporating into my day.....When I’m home, I prefer making my burgers with the lean meat or my own black bean burgers but when at a BBQ, just trying to MTBC...not sure the impossible burger was worth the points I think I would have been better with the black bean and corn veggie burger.....oh well, next time...
Kathy, great plan and nice that you’ll have some GF time!! Staying away from the sugar is Hugh!! You will feel so much better not fighting all the urges that come afterwards... Have an safe, productive, enjoyable week!
Jan, I don’t know how you do it....I hope your getting some relaxing time and giving your body a little rest.....
Cindy, Wonderful to see the scale moving in the right direction! Just really concentrate on how you are feeling since being back on program !!

Kathy - Wow - I didn't realize FF cool whip is only 1 pt for 5 T. I think I'll pick some up. Kudos on D2 and on planning travel meals. Sounds like fun getting together with your friend. Good luck staying strong!!
Jan - Hmmm I didn't know about foam rollers. I'll check utube for its uses. What exactly do you do with it? Yes DH has very severe spinal stenosis and arthritis. But you were asking about DS. He's the one with the bad shoulders and he's the one postponing the surgery.
Cindy - D6 - yeah - time goes fast when you're having fun. No DH isn't considering surgery. Jan had asked about DS. 4 pounds is fantastic. Keep up the good work!!!!!!!

Lori - Our posts crossed in Cyber space. It's Knudsen "just black cherry" juice (not concentrated and not tart). 6 oz AM 1/2 hour before eating anything for three weeks. 4 oz. thereafter. I was in a lot of pain getting in and out of the car, getting up from couch, getting out of bed in the morning, picking up ping pong balls, etc. MRI showed spinal stenosis and arthritis. The person who first recommended it to me had extreme pain in her hands which were twisted or something. After the juice her pain was gone and the fingers untwisted. Her doctor was so impressed that he started taking it <g>. I was scheduled for an epidural or two or three but it took time for them to reach out to my cardiologist for authorization. I didn't push it - sort of left it up to fate. After two months, the pain was gone. TOTALLY. So I cancelled the epidural and never looked back. I can't be positive it was the juice but that was the only thing that changed. It's full of antioxidants which is why it reduces the inflammation. And it certainly can't hurt. Many of my friends have been taking it (I have a big mouth) with good results. In Shoprite it's in the juice aisle near the front. It can be expensive 5.49 or 6.49 a bottle but they frequently have it at 3.99 which is when I buy 4 bottles (the maximum allowed). Stop and Shop has it in the health food aisle but never on sale.
