Good morning, off to new term art class after nine weeks of being sick and the two week off between terms. Going to try a painting of niece's two boxers for the family.

Just checking in really quick. I haven’t read the weekend posts yet. We stayed the whole weekend in Kokomo and I am playing catch up today. Have a great Monday.

Karen, thanks for the start.
Linda, I'm sure the painting of the boxers would be appreciated. The picture in your avatar would make a fun painting too.
Chele, glad you got a weekend away.
It's pouring again here. We went from 15 days with no rain and temps in the upper 90s to a forecast with 70% rain chance for the next 7 days. The pond is almost full now so the turtles will have to dive deeper to get to the vegetation. Crazy weather this weekend. A motorcycle rider was struck by lightning and killed on one of the interstates and there was flooding on I-95. Glad I don't have to go to work in this!
Waving to Becky and Liz. Have a good Monday.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Linda Enjoy your new art class term.
Chele I'm glad you were able to stay the whole w/e.I hope you get caught up soon.
Kathy OMG on the rider being struck by lightning.Last night we got 1" rain with wind, thunder, lightning and a bit of hail but thankfully no damage.Only a lawn chair turned upside down.On our way to town we did see people had parts of trees down and it looks like they got more wind than we did. It's only 83 here at 3:30 and we are expecting a few days in the 80's and maybe a few morning lows in the 60's.It felt so good out there this morning.
Since we were going to HEB this morning I rode the recumbent bike before we went.I did get in a walk this afternoon after lunch.I'm done for the day.I do need to get some more steps this hour as the Garmin is beeping at me.
Waving to Karen and Liz.

Becky, I know, imagine the odds of being struck on a moving motorcycle. They showed his helmet and it had large holes in it from the lightning. An awful thing for the rider and his family. Glad you didn't have any damage. There were some trees down to the north of here, but I didn't hear of any major damage.
Linda, they took the good stuff out of that sauce! I love onions and garlic, but that's a great idea for people that can't eat them.

Kathy There is a missing woman on Lake Pflugerville who was on a kayak and is still missing. They have said it's a recovery effort now.Her husband was also on a kayak but made it back safely. The storms came up so fast people didn't have time to react. On another lake almost 80 people were on a tour boat and had to be ferry'ed to safety.Today no rain and in the 80's so go figure. They did say summer was returning quickly though.

Linda, that was a good plan to get the Toshiba when you could. We are scouring estate sales to try to find a replacement for ours that will no longer copy off to a disk. I know what you mean about being a pain with the titles. I think the one we have is a Toshiba and may be the same model you have. Talk about a PiTA!! You did have a bad tech day! Congrats on the cheaper Zyrtec. How was art class today? Painting the boxers is a great idea. I would think it would be more challenging than the Vancouver landscape because you'll want to get their little faces just right. Is it usually the same group of people in the class every term? We had that with a pottery class we offered at the college and we referred to the group as "the pottery cult". Thanks for the info on the new Prego. That's going to be a good thing for a lot of people. I am trying to find one without added oil and can't find one in the grocery stores, so I may just have to make my own.
When we didn't hear from you yesterday, Chele, I wondered if you stayed the weekend. Did you have good weather? Did you do anything unique?
Kathy, your weather pattern seems like ours--can't buy a drop of rain and then the deluge hits. The motorcyclist on I-95 was from outside of Charlotte, NC. Talk about wrong place/wrong time. I think I saw they were getting some weather in the panhandle, so is that also heading for you? They really got slammed in NC. Some of the FB photos from drones are just unreal and there are a lot of roads I know well that are closed or, in some cases, washed out. They also have another landslide on I-40 between the TN line and Asheville in the same place they spent millions on repairs a couple of summers ago.
You seem to have gotten your fair share of rain lately as well, Becky. I saw something about winds in Austin and planes at ABIA being grounded for a while. I hadn't heard about the kayaker and didn't realize there was a lake in Pfleugerville. Is that something kind of recent? So your Garmin nags at you for steps? Did you hear that Hut's Hamburgers in Austin is going to close? That's sad. It was around since the late 1930s. I had some in my carnivore days and they were unique with a lot of different options and creatively named burgers..
I heard from Liz and the copter crash in Manhattan wasn't anywhere near the hospital. Arya got me up at the usual time this morning (thank you very much!) and I was busy most of the morning and sat most of the afternoon. She did give me enough time to use the Vibe and take a shower. Otherwise, she was pretty much plastered to me all day. I got some good news from the State Health Plan and Dale will be able to go back on it when his current coverage lapses. If we go with the most expensive policy, it will only be $650 a month and he can stay on it until he goes on Medicare. He just needs to get a letter verifying his last date of coverage. I'm glad I called. That's going to save us several thousand a year. If he hadn't previously been on my coverage, I don't think it would have worked out.

Karen I didn't know Pflugerville had a lake either before the news last night.Pflugerville has really grown since you left TX.Lake Buchanan was where the boat party had to be rescued to safety.I have never been to Hut's but knew it had been around forever. They said on the news they do have one in ABIA now so I guess that is the only one in Austin now. There are so many iconic and cafe's in Austin are going out of business b/c of property taxes or someone wants to buy their land for development. It is a shame.Yea my Garmin beeps at me if I haven't moved in an hour. It's like the Fitbit's where you can chose to get in another 250 steps an hr but I don't have any way to select the hours.About 2 minutes will give it the steps it wants. Thanks for the update on Liz.I saw that on the news and was wondering. There was a big crane that crashed through a high rise apartment bldg in Dallas due to the high winds. In Manor of all places they had wind gusts up to 80 MPH and there was one confirmed tornado outside SSW of Liberty Hill.I'm glad those storms are gone.I am glad you were able to get Dale back on your insurance.Since Kenneth has never been listed as a dependent on my state insurance I can't get him on the ERS insurance but at least only he will have to pay for insurance next year.I received a letter from ERS today and mine goes into effect on 9/1.It will still be Humana Medicare Advantage so I will need to cancel the Humana Advantage Plan I'm currently paying for on 8/31.

scary storms.
Yes, about half the class is same year after year and we help the new people. No actual teaching, more like a workshop where she mostly helps the people starting out or us when we get stuck Getting the dog faces right is a portrait thing...got to be that right special dog,
