WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C75D8, 5256 fitbit steps
Weβve been moving our holiday parties to January. Too much going on just prior to Christmas.
Jan β Thatβs the idea. I certainly donβt expect any short term weight losses, but if this will help me avoid binges, there could be slow reduction in weight over time, hopefully followed by maintenance. Only time will tell. Hope the mete went well.
Lori β Are the kids home for Christmas?
Edesia β Did you bring in the Chinese food or eat out? What did you have? I too have been thinking about Columbus and how much better it might be next time. No flights booked as yet.
Kathy β Contemplate away!!
Louise β I too was using yogurt as well as sugar free pudding and smoothies in addition to cheese to get in my milk. Then I thought β how about trying a glass of FF milk with SF chocolate syrup or coffee and did that for a while. It never occurred to me to drink a glass of FF milk without any flavoring (I use Lactaid that is calcium enriched). Finally I tried a glass and it was really good. Surprise surprise! So now I have a glass of it every morning with breakfast and to wash down my medicines and vitamins.

Hi BFFs, Guess everyone is having a busy Monday....
Louise, I'll be cooking Christmas Eve, bringing a few side dishes Christmas Day and enjoying my Mom's Lagazna dinner on the 26th....no too bad. Hope you had good weather today....it was just cold in New Jersey today!
Nancy, I find the microwave cake is really good when I put something on it.....I made pb2 and added a little cool whip to make a frosting, another time I had light ice cream. My DS will be home for Christmas - looking forward to it! Glad things are going well for you.
Hi to everyone! Lori

Protein 17/20 Calories 17/20
I practiced I.E. yesterday so I didn't advance my counts. I knew it would be an odd eating day so I thought it would be a good time to try it. I did quite well!
DS did a great job at his meet. They had several events that normally aren't in a regular meet. DS did the 50m back stroke. He took 2nd in his heat and 4th overall! I think there were 18 swimmers, and as a freshman he's competing against older, larger kids. He's got potential!
Argh, just got home and have to head back out to pick up a kid. Waving to everyone!

C26D7 G9Y4R5 26 SP Treat count 24/36 3296 steps collateral only (I can't get the thing to sync again so I can't compute the FP)
Good food day. Got to Hannaford's this afternoon so now have some fruit and yogurt in the house. After church I headed for Walmart and was there at least two hours. I found that they carry the Quest products. I got some of the protein bars but didn't get any of the powder yet.
I spent a lot of money there. I got a new Humidifier. The one I had was a rummage sale buy. It worked fine all of last season and might have continued on this year. There was a small washer that dried up and since it was out the other components of the connection between the water tank and the processor also came out. I'm not sure how to put them back together. I thought of trying to run it without them but I didn't want to risk a small flood.
Nancy-I always have skim milk in the house but I don't necessarily have it every day. I buy Simply Smart which does something that makes FF milk taste like 2%. It also stays fresh for longer than most other milk I've bought. Probably has things in there I don't necessarily need but I don't use it that often. Good idea about moving parties to January.
Lori-I don't think we ever had multiple Christmas gatherings when I was growing up. It was a big gathering of all the families on my DM's side. Sometimes at the maternal grandparents and sometimes at our house or DM's siblings houses. My paternal grandfather was dead before I was born and paternal grandmother was in a nursing home. My father had no siblings. He had some cousins in New Jersey. Although we did visit them and they visited us I don't think we were ever there around Christmas. Definitely it was cold out today but I told a couple of people that ir was 10 degrees warmer than forecast. There was a brief portion of the day when it got very windy but that didn't last too long.
Jan-congrats to DS on his performance at the swim meet.
