Thanks, all.
linda72, I did decide to leave the shower tile as is. After I get a little organized I will post some final photos. Right now things are a bit unsettled.
I’m unpacking bit by bit and wondering where the heck all this stuff came from! I’m not sure that there is actually room in the new kitchen cabinets for it all.
One discovery: even at 6 feet I’m, not tall enough to fully utilize the cabinets because they now go to the ceiling and, with the old soffit removed, that’s higher than I can reach. No problem: I ordered a safe and sturdy step ladder with handles from Amazon this morning; it’ll be here tomorrow.
Another discovery: at 6 feet I’m tall enough to have to be careful not to lean over to put something in a pot on the stovetop—lest I whack my head on the hood. Either I’ll hit the head enough to remember not to do it, or I’ll whack myself sensless in the process!
I did a bit of unloading of food into the garage pantries this morning. Things have heated enough now that I can only be in the un-air-conditioned garage for short periods of time.
Due to the heat I decided this is picnic food weather; so I ran out early to the store and picked up potatoes and some veggies and morphed a favorite potato salad recipe into a potato, vegetable and egg salad recipe. Dinner will be hot dogs on buns and the salad. I was a big disorganize in my workflow but found that the kitchen does, indeed, have enough counter space to be able to work efficiently and do different things in different places.
The kitchen designer called this afternoon to check on everything and see if I was happy. He had asked to take “after” photos, which is fine with me, but I think with all the photos I’ve taken he will have more than he needs; I emailed them to him. He also asked me for the testimonial letter recounting my experience with the company—no bias or pressure for a positive letter, just a recounting of my experience. I wrote a glowing testimonial!
I have posted final photos to the web site. I’ll have to find something else to do every day now. Hmmm…could plan; could track; could cook…endless possibilities.
