Cyndee, yesterday you were talking about cholesterol, so thought I would send you this info. The message below is from my sister; One day while at the grocery store I had this overwhelming desire to have an avocado. So now one of my go to lunches after work is a small can of salmon, a few crackers (saltines) and a nice soft avocado 🥑. It is such a nice lunch. I am not sure if I can give credit to the avocado for this but, at my last check up at the doctor’s office was great. In fact, my good cholesterol went up about 15 points. Eating the avocado’s is the only thing I can of that I did different. So I looked up the benefits of eating avocados, woked.co/health-benefits-eating-avocado-daily/ I did not realize how healthy avocados are, so now I have started eating avocado daily, I only have the fatty type fish 3-4 times a week. I am not due a checkup until fall, then I will see if helps my readings HDL,.

Lyn, thanks so much for sharing your sister's message, including the article! Wow! I knew 🥑s had health benefits, but not that many. Luckily, I really love avocados and so does my husband. I've got one at home I could eat today.
The use to curb epilepsy, too, is quite interesting!

That is one of my main complaints about WW: that you are penalized for eating "good" fats, like avocado.

That is one of my main complaints about WW: that you are penalized for eating "good" fats, like avocado. I hate the whole idea of "penalties" on food. The thought of categorizing foods as "good" and "bad" is part of what got a lot of us in this yoyo weight loss predicament, I believe. WW is sending mixed messages. On one hand they are saying "You can eat anything!" but on the other hand we are "punished" for eating certain foods, even though they may be good for us nutritionally. Avocados, whole grains, healthy oils. The way FreeStyle messes with my head is one reason I am doing MFP and focusing on making healthier choices.

The way FreeStyle messes with my head is one reason I am doing MFP and focusing on making healthier choices. fullmahina , DotRen , I remember years back (14 years ago?) when I followed the WW Core Plan, avocados were actually part of the Core Plan list, though I recall them being limited to a serving size. That is generally 1/4 avocado, I believe. I remember the WW Core Plan also allowed a small number of drained olives without having to track them. I was sad to see these allowances change with the Simply Filling plan. I remember one of my go-to snacks was a Wasa/Ryvita crispbread slice (for very low bonus points) topped with avocado spread, a few sliced olives, a few halved grape tomatoes, and a sprinkling of chilli and/or Cayenne pepper. It was really good, and my husband liked that snack, too. I also remember making a Tex-Mex style meal with sliced polenta topped with Tex-Mex type toppings. We really like that, as well. That was also mostly or fully Core. Though I'm not following any WW plan right now, I am trying to incorporate old WW Core Plan eating into my current weight loss plan. First, I know that that is generally healthful and satisfying eating. Second, my husband really loved the Core Plan, as well. He didn't "officially" follow it, but lost over 10 lbs during the period when I followed it, just by eating the food I prepared. At that time, I lost 25 lbs, which was all I needed to lose to reach a goal well within my normal BMI range. This time around, I also wish to lose 25 lbs, but my end goal is higher than my end goal was 14 years ago. I'm just aiming to reach my normal BMI range, plus an extra 2 lbs off.
