Good morning.
Woke up this morning to DH telling me "there's a fox eating something out on the front lawn." Always up for excitement, I run to the window and all I see is what looks like a wing way out on lawn. Got dressed and took a look---yep, a chicken wing and a couple of piles of feathers. Rhode Island Red, from the looks of it. Nope, not mine, mine are all safely tucked into their coop. That's the second one that we know of around us in the last week or so. Coyotes, foxes, etc, etc, etc. You can't free-range here unless you are okay with your chickens getting attacked and killed. I am not.
Beautiful this morning, nice and cool. I bought two more deck rail planters yesterday and will put some green onion and spinach seeds in them and then I think I am done for mini-veggie-garden planting. So I will have tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, radishes, spinach, green onions, and assorted herbs if all goes well. This small scale stuff works out well as I'm pretty much the only one who eats veggies here. DH is a corn and green bean guy and that's about it.
Nothing exciting on the agenda for today. Since tomorrow will be rainy I think we'll throw a steak on the grill and call it a Father's Day celebration. I'll bake a chocolate cake for DH and do some laundry after chicken and garden chores.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning MJ Glad it wasn't one of yours Fullmahina. My garden is about as good as it is going to get this year. Finally, Deb!!!! Is that everything for now? Waiting until 9 to mow as I know the neighbor across from the back has a young one. More weeding with a lot more to go. Does it ever end? And my natural weed killer is not working on a lot of them. I'm trying to avoid anything stronger. The deck is open for the summer and the first official bbq will be tonight with a small gathering.

Good morning all! YEA, DebDoesWW , I am so glad you got the A/C installed. And, just in time because the humidity/heat are really increasing. I hope you stay cool and find you get lower electric bills out of it. The new machines are more efficient than ever. I hope you can now enjoy your home and no more surprises! diva49, enjoy your WW meeting. Have they mentioned the bling you can earn this summer? fullmahina, I'm sorry about the chicken but nature can be cruel. Glad your babies are safe. Enjoy your mini-veggie garden. Sounds perfect. susiq25679, enjoy your BBQ tonight. Our Father's Day dinner last night was very good: prime rib, mashed potatoes, baked brie appetizer, salad and key lime pie. Yum! I've got some leftovers we can eat this weekend but I'm basically done with the big meals this weekend. Right now I'm drinking coffee and enjoying the morning.

susiq25679 only major thing left on the post Harvey list is the pool and to be honest, I am just too mentally exhausted right now to tackle that. I have no idea if the equipment even works , all of the electrical has to be changed out first before it can even be started. Then it would have to be dredged with all of the hurricane debris still in it. I think come winter time I will just get it torn up and get it filled in and made into a garden area. For now it will be the turtle, frog and fish pond for relaxation and tranquility. ๐คฃ Have fun at your BBQ tonight!

fullmahina , your additional gardening plans sound lovely. I also love the whole experience of planting and enjoying things that grow. Our herb garden is doing great! So are our flowers, except the begonias need a little more time. As for foxes, my brother used to have lots of chickens and ducks. Between a fox and hawks, many met their end. What can you do? He had them well caged in, but as you know, foxes and hawks are smart and clever. He now only has one rooster and one chicken left. They live a life of luxury! My brother gave his chickens and ducks a very nice living space - about one full acre of grassy paradise, along with a mini pond and chicken coup. He's since shifted his attention more to raising honey bees. He has honey bee hives not only on his property, on the properties of about three other people in the township. Though we don't get any eggs anymore, the honey is delicious! We're having a simple bbq today to celebrate Father's day a day early. Then we're likely going to the swim hole.

Good morning Iโm in. I believe in the power of positive thinking and told the restaurant hostess I had to leave early because I was going to win at bingo. I won one of the two $50 gift certificates toward a spa treatment and I have a facial scheduled at four today. I did the same thing when I want the jewelry auction price on our cruise in January. I wonโt get hook though into buying lottery tickets. Iโm skipping an hour of writing my goals to do chair yoga which I think is more important for me. I know how to write short and long-term goals but really have to concentrate on stretching. Lots of activities planned for this last day and I go home tomorrow full of information.

DebDoesWW, I know someone who filled in their pool after their children moved out and he was so happy with the change. There are many places in Houston doing this so hopefully you can find someone in your area (if you decide to do it). We had a pool for over 20 years in our other house and it's a relief to not have a pool now to deal with. We loved it when we had it but then we outgrew its usefulness for us.

I never set out to buy a house with a pool but the one that I got that was "the one" has a pool. And now I'm so glad to have it! We spend all summer in it and even if too chilly for the pool but warm enough in the sun, I love laying out on a lounge chair poolside. It feels like vacation. The cost has not been noticeable although I'm sure my water bill would be much lower since the pool guy keeps it filled to a certain tile line to keep the equipment in good working order.
