You must have had a bad location, the ones here are fantastic Even on WW I'd have the Chicken monterey melt and a side salad. On low-carb, I have the chicken or beef monetrey melt, no bun and a side salad, still good lol When I lived in Albuquerque we also had whataburger and I tried it there too. Nope. Just not good food. Mike I love In n Out, Habit Burger and the Counter. If whataburger ever tried to compete with any of those they'd be out of business before they know it! We don't have a Whataburger in Santa Fe. We do have [Blake's] Lotaburger, but I never tried one until we went to Alamogordo. It was good, for what it was. They are just in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona.

We have In-n-Out, Whataburger, Smashburger. We've got them all. They are all still in business. I guess everybody has their favorite.

hallian, mood plays a role, too. Every now and then I still get a craving for a Big Mac or a Double Whopper with Cheese.

There has been a huge increase in burger emporiums in the SF Bay Area. In fact, a gourmet burger emporium, Grub, recently opened within walking distance of my house. We have Habit Burger, Super Duper Burger, In & Out (of course), Smashburger, The Counter, and more. So Whataburger, if they expand to this area, will be yet another place to buy a burger. I'm feeling left out because we have none of these chains. Of course, that's probably good because I don't need to start a burger habit.

I ate at a Whataburger in Texas and it was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to Whataburger but I wouldn't say no to going again either. I got the Patty Melt (totally unaware of how many calories that thing packs!) and it was way bigger than I expected and I remember being pleased by it. Not like a NY diner Patty Melt but even so, it was good. My favorite part is how they bring your food to your table. I was with relatives and I think I said "Oh that's nice!" with a big smile on my face, lol. What can I say...I'm easy. I guess I liked that you didn't have to do the fast food tray balancing act while trying to find a table. Some locations are better than others.DH loves the one in Bastrop and he won't even try anything other than the patty melt.I won't use the calories or points.I think just the single patty melt without fries has like 29 FSP.Not going to get that.I used to like their grilled chicken salad but the last time we went it didn't taste right.I will only go when he can talk me into going there.LOL.

Is it coincidence that I’ve been eating more burgers over the past year or so? I think not! Have you tried Umami Burger in Palo Alto? It's part of a chain of gourmet burger places. It's one of my dd's (who lives in Sunnyvale) favorites. They took me there when I was out a few years ago. Very unusual burgers.

Very unusual burgers. First I’ve heard of it. I’ll have to look it up. I occasionally go to Palo Alto and meet my financial consultant for lunch; perhaps I’ll put Umami on the agenda. Your daughter and I are almost next-door neighbors: I live in Santa Clara. If your daughter hasn’t tried Clarke’s Charcoal Broiler in Mountain View (on El Camino), tell her she may enjoy it. Not a chain—I think it is the only location.

We (dh and I) are going to be out there for a few days in December. Dd's friend and roommate is getting married in Morgan Hill. We'll be staying at a hotel in Sunnyvale. Maybe we'll try Clarke's while we're there.

hallian , mood plays a role, too. Every now and then I still get a craving for a Big Mac or a Double Whopper with Cheese. One of my very rare cravings is for a 1/4 pounder with cheese, extra onions, extra pickles from MickeyD's. And I do cave once in a while for White Castle cheeseburgers. At least three at a time, thanks.

Of all the fast food burgers I've tried I actually tend to stick to tried and true McDonald's double cheeseburger and toss the bun.
