I'm IN also. I'm going to watch the grands this morning so DD can go have her first mammogram. Can't believe she's old enough for one! Later, I'll stop at the grocery store for fresh produce.
It's a warm start to the day and we'll hit 90 degrees this afternoon. Summer heat/humidity are here to stay!
Have a good day everyone.

I'm in. Morning all
We have a crazy fog here this morning. It's so dim, I've got the lights on. No broken toes or bruised shins for this gal! I'm heading to the vision center to straighten out my order for glasses and contacts. It's been three weeks so I called to inquire. They told me no glasses were ever ordered. I spent a lot of time selecting just the right pairs and working with a salesperson through the usual process. I can't imagine what happened but, what a disappointment and inconvenience. Beyond that, a typical Tuesday. Chicken salad for dinner.
Enjoy the day!

Good morning, everyone!
Today will be a more laid back day for me. I do need to fit in French study. I've been putting it off. I love the French language, but studying it is often like a spoonful of cod liver oil. Hubby wants to move to France in a few years. I'm scared as heck to relocate to Europe permanently. I've always loved traveling and have done a lot in my life, but the thought of struggling (at my age) to communicate every single day, and adjust to the culture, is intimidating. I really am a New Jersey girl. Even specifically a central NJ girl. Even when I lived in the Bay Area of California (a very nice place) I yearned for central NJ again.
I've been doing a lot of physical work lately. I think that's been aiding my weight loss. Hubby and I weigh ourselves on Fridays. It will be the second weigh-in since we started our eating plan again. This is actually my husband's first "formal" diet of his life. Formal meaning that his food is tracked, though I track it and plan his meals. He is good to not eat beyond his planned meals. I do have to cater to his preferences to a degree, understandably. He loves to eat lots of fruit. He always goes over the MyFitnessPal daily total sugars allowance, by about one piece of fruit. Our refined sugar consumption is low, though. He is unwilling to forgo that one extra piece of fruit. Oh well! No one at all in his family is diabetic. I guess that extra fruit doesn't matter that much as long as he stays within the daily calorie allowance. He does have high blood pressure, but I think losing weight and keeping sodium consumption reasonable will hopefully help with that.
I have googled "recommended daily sugar consumption" many many times. The results only ever list the total recommended maximum REFINED sugar consumption, but the MFP allowance includes natural sugars, as well. I did find one place that said to only eat two or three servings of fruit per day. He usually eats four or sometimes even five. I only eat two, for the most part, and one is usually berries.

linda72, I remember when I had my first "base-line" mammogram they saw something that led them to recommend another, and then an ultrasound. I have heard that this is not that uncommon. I hope that doesn't happen to your daughter. It can be scary. I wish they'd tell young women that it is common, but done to be cautious. Then later down the line they switched to 3-D mammograms. They wanted to take a second one in only 6 months. But as I waited for the results, I overheard them say the same thing (to come back in 6 months) to two other women. Since then, that was not an issue. doordie50, I hope you get your glasses squared away. I really need to get a new prescription. I'm still near sighted, but as I get older I can't see things up close with my glasses on. I think I need bifocals. Ugh!

diva49, ugh to family dramas---hope yours get cleared up quickly. cyndee, living in Europe seems exciting to me but I hear you on not wanting to leave the familiar and comfortable. I think we're pretty much here for the long haul now but who knows? I love that you're learning French---such a pretty language! linda72, wishing your DD a totally uneventful mammo! Good morning. Pouring buckets this morning and it will continue all day. The walkway/retaining wall/snowplow/landscape guy was here and he will get back to us after pricing out our choices for a couple of paver walkways and a retaining wall. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to have other people do these kinds of things. In the old days we would tackle this stuff ourselves but those days are OVER. The toughest thing was convincing DH to have the snow plowing done but I will say he thoroughly enjoyed waking up to a cleared driveway and sidewalk this past winter. With his health issues I had to put my foot down but there was a lot of resistance. MEN!!! Work should start in about three weeks or so. I am so looking forward to that new garden bed inside the retaining wall---plans are already churning in my head! Have a good day everyone!

Good morning. I’m in. Feeling dragged out. Sleep was fitful last night and then sometime after I was in a deep sleep this morning Missy started nagging me to get up. Yawn. HOWEVER, my virus seems to be on target to be eliminated from my system in the 7- to 10- day range. Yay on that! This morning the city inspector is due to give final signoff on the permit for the construction. I’ll be glad when that’s done. Of course, they may show up anytime from 8 AM on, so I had to launch into my morning routine to shower and dress right out of bed, without coffee. (WHY didn’t I have a Keurig built into that new shower?) It is now 10 AM; foreman has been here since 8:30; inspection window is 9 to Noon. I sit and wait. Foreman is doing a bit of clean-up work that I discovered needed doing. Beyond sitting and waiting, no plans for the day. If the inspection happens early enough I’ll make a trip to the library to drop off some of the boxes that I’ve emptied during th3 past week. I think it is 20 to 22 boxes and lids. I did find one place that said to only eat two or three servings of fruit per day. He usually eats four or sometimes even five. I only eat two, for the most part, and one is usually berries. Cyndee, if you were to look back at the WW program going back to the original and for many revisions thereafter, you’d find that women were REQUIRED to eat three servings of fruit per day and men were required to eat five. You can view the USDA recommended guidelines at this web site: www.choosemyplate.gov/start-simple-myplate Near as I can see, the recommended servings of fruit/juice for a man of any age is 4 servings. That appears to be a minimum and doesn’t seem to have a maximum. As we’ve heard from WW many times, better to eat another piece of fruit than something more damaging to the diet (like Snickers!). Have a great day everyone.

Maybe I won't be so reluctant to give him the extra fruit. Cutting down on fruit is tough for him! He's the type that would go for fruit before a donut. Unfortunately, I'm not. I will try to add one more to my daily line up. Are people with diabetes able to eat more fruit sugars than refined? I know little about the rules for that or how/if the body processes those sugars differently. We do eat a lot of vegetables. At least 5 servings per day, each. Hubby has been a good sport about limiting his alcohol consumption. I give him two drinks at dinner. I guess if he has extra calories to use, he could have a small whisky. I try not to drink more than 1/2 to one serving per day max.

Fingers crossed for your DD linda72. Thanks for the kind words DebDoesWW, DD told the Mammography Tech this was her first mammo and the Tech was so nice. She showed her the machine, described every thing that was going to happen and showed her the resulting images afterwards. She even said, "I'm not supposed to say anything, but.....looks good to me!". Yippee!

linda72,- glad things went well for DD. I also had to do a second scan and then and sonogram on my first one. I thought I was going to be in and out and it took over 2 hours. It was very scary, but I agree that is common. Still working on that training! About 3 hours left.

Are people with diabetes able to eat more fruit sugars than refined? I know little about the rules for that or how/if the body processes those sugars differently. Modern philosophy for diabetics is more avoiding added sugar as much as possible, considering total carb grams rather than just sugar grams, and finding the number of 15-gram servings of carbs per meal, snack and day that keeps you within your target blood sugar readings. The rule for fruit: if you want to enjoy a serving, eat the actual fruit—it has fiber and that slows down the absorbtion of the Fructose. If you want to bring your blood sugar up (as I had to do before the foreman left here a while ago), drink juice—orange juice without pulp pretty much provides the most rapid blood sugar rise. I drank an 8 oz. bottle of apple juice that had 39g of carbs. My blood sugar was 77 and it is now 124 about an hour later. Half a bottle would have been enough, but I usually err on the side of safety.

cyndee, LOL - I wear progressive tri-focals! And if I wear contacts, I have to add a pair of readers if I want to see a book or menu etc. Hope you do well with the bifocals
fullmahina, you'll have to take pics of your new walkway and raised bed - so excited for you!
zazzles, hope you feel better soon.
