Focus on your food: slow down and eat while sitting at the table, not on the go. Internal cues regulating food intake (hunger/fullness signals) may not be as effective while distracted.
Always aim for five servings of vegetables a day, whether fresh, frozen or tinned: fruit and vegetables have high nutritional quality and low energy density. Eating the recommended amount produces health benefits, including reduction in the risk of cancer and coronary heart disease.
Do you try to focus on your food and not try to do other things while eating? Do you usually have 5 servings or more?
I try to focus on my food, although there are many times I eat almost automatically while my mind wanders with all kinds of thoughts. It isn't always easy to stay focused.
I usually get in my 5 servings or more although sometimes for various reasons I come up short. I have also read that we should have more than 5, even up to 10 or 11. I would think you'd almost have to be a vegetarian or vegan to get that many. I have been doing a more plant based diet lately, so I probably do get in more than if I had a regular sized serving of meat with my meals.

I could be more aware when I eat, although I do notice little things, like how one fruit adds just a skosh of flavor to the smoothie that otherwise tastes like some other fruit that's in it...
And yes, I get in five servings of fruits and veggies a day, often more than five...

I do okay most days with the fruit/veg even though not at every meal.
I definitely could concentrate on the food more when eating than I do currently.

I tend to eat too fast, I have tried to slow myself down, I really do enjoy every bite!!
I eat tons of veggies & fruits, especially now that the garden is coming in, Last night, we had fresh green beans (from a near by farm), fresh squash & cucumbers, from our own garden. Can't wait for the tomatoes to start coming in.

Focused on getting in my fruit and veggies as we are away from home for a few days. I’ll get my minimum in today.

Beverly, where do you live that you are already eating squash and cucumbers ? My plants are only about 5 inches high. I do have some tomatoes on my tomato plants and saw a couple of very small peppers, but nothing near ready to eat.
Okay, back to the questions:
I have been trying to eat with more awareness instead of just wolfing down my food. Putting down my fork between bites, etc.
Did I get in 5 serving of F/V yesterday ? I think only 4. Today, I brought a very veggie centered lunch, so it shouldn't be a problem to get in 5-6 servings today.

Awareness - sometimes yes, sometimes no. The "no" situations (where I'm not paying attention) tend to happen at work. Multi tasking while eating (probably doing paperwork, putting in orders on line, etc)
Fruit & Vegetables - the vast majority of the time, yes. I'd assume this also involves keeping in mind a "serving size" for vegetables. If a serving of leafy greens is one cup, a large salad could be 2 to 3 servings. A larger banana could be 1 1/2 to 2 and so on.

Jan, I live just outside Nashville, we have had squash for a few weeks now, we have also had broccoli, cabbage & cucumbers. We planted our garden in April. We don't have any ripe tomatoes yet.
