People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.
Questions of the day: Monday; Tuesday; Wednesday: Sharon; Thursday: Ruth; Friday: Recipe Sharing; Saturday: Karen C; Sunday: Gail.

Good Morning!
Tomorrow is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year.
QOTD: We have one more week of our AARP Walking Challenge. How are you doing? AOTD: Yesterday at the Drs. he told me I lost 2 lbs since I had been to see him 3 months ago. I am finding with the longer days I am able to fit a walk in even if the day has gotten away from me, like yesterday, when I didn't get my 30 minute walk in until 7:00. This challenge has been helpful in giving me more energy. I plan to continue and make walking 30 minutes a day a priority.
Now that I have been not snacking in over 3 weeks I find that I am not hungry in between meals. I want to continue this also. I know it doesn't work for everyone but it works for me. My goal is to be like Sharon and get into that lower decade. Sharon, Thanks for the inspiration! And truly, all of you inspire me. Thank you!

Good morning!
This is just a flyby to say hello. I need to be out the door in about 10 minutes and I still have to finish getting ready for my day. I'll try to check back in later on this afternoon/evening. Have a wonderful day!

Good morning friends.. the heart cath is over and the best news possible. I am even home already. There is no blockage. The stent that is there is open large and my heart is getting blood. I asked the techs after the doctor left and they showed me the video and where the stent is. The heart was beating the blood came through the stent and artery and then branched out into other arteries just like it’s supposed to. The doctors explanation was the stress test was false.
They do a stress test first as it’s less invasive. If they see any possible blockage they do the more invasive heart cath. For my coughing and out of breath going uphill and steps l will see a pulmonologist this fall. At least the heart problem was eliminated. Two other smaller arteries were 40% blocked by they didn’t bother with that. I am confident I can bring that percentage down with my heart healthy vegan diet. But I do feel like I can eat meat occasionally. And I am officially off the Metformin.
AOTD I did give up the aarp walking challenge when I was confronted with possible heart problems. Now back to walking and exercise. Just not this first week as I was instructed.

Sharon, I am doing the HAPPY DANCE for you! That is wonderful news!!!! So glad that the stress test was wrong (believe it or not, that has happened to Mike, too, and it all stems back to his GERD and not his heart).

Sharon So happy for you. Prayers do get answered.
This is good I have heard from a man at church who will come by Monday afternoon. I have asked for someone to be available to close my hurricane shutters if the need arises and he is coming to see them. They are accordion except for one that gets put by the front door where there is a window. However you need to stand on a ladder to reach these shutters and be strong enough to pull them closed. This greatly relieves my mind and if the hurricane is coming someone will be available to shut them for me. There is no way I can leave my home in the event of a hurricane because I will not leave Kelcy.

Sharon, great news!
Jane, I'm delighted someone from your church may be able to help you with your hurricane shutters!
Thyroid ultrasound shows no changes in my multiple nodules. Looks like repeat biopsies will not be needed!

KC, Great news for you, too. Very happy that no additional biopsies needed!
Jane, Glad that you found someone who can take care of your hurricane shutters, if needed. That must be a huge relief for you!

Sharon, great news there is no blockage. Also good to hear Mr. Mike is feeling better. Jane what a relief for you if the gentleman can close your hurricane shutters. At least he is willing to try. KC, huge news there is no change with your thyroid ultrasound. All of you surely will sleep better tonight.
A slight break in the rain today, waiting for the sun to drop below the treeline this evening to apply the second coat of sand paint on the deckramp.
Take care everyone.

Good evening ladies,
Sharon....glad there is no blockage and now you can plan your trip.
Sandy....I'm also glad that there will be a hearing next week for your daughter.
The kids final day of school was Tuesday and they've been here ever since, I had an 8th grade graduation to go to on Monday. The girls went home tonight but I'm sure I'll see them again before they all leave for vacation to Calif. to visit their aunt, they will be gone for 6 weeks. I have not been faithful to my ww plan, but once they're gone I plan on working on ME for a change. It's been very stressful here as well since my other sister moved in with us and I don't see any relief in site. Very sad situation and there's nothing we can do about it, she has to do it. Keeping you all in my prayers daily even though I don't post every day. My bad.

KC, Mike, Sharon all good news. After my scare with my mammogram I passed next tests and scan with good news. Sandy hearing for daughter in the future, Jane someone to help with shutters... We must be doing something right and I am a firm believer that prayers are answered. Also was it Karen or Vicki that her husband got a good report. I know I am forgetting someone
I was at the doctor's office this afternoon and was told to stop walking as I have inflammation in my ankle. I have a big bite and thought it was the entire problem. No inflammation is because of arthritis and itch and result of bite. Anti inflammatory for swelling and steroid cream for itch. He offered me a steroid pill for both but I declined. Hate how they make me feel.
Horrible, horrible storms last night. Lots of roads closed because of downed wires and trees. Over three inches of rain. Roads closed because of flooding. Witnessed lots of damage today. Cars, houses, fences all shattered because of trees falling on them. Straight line winds in excess of 85 miles per hour. Went two blocks behind me and half mile north of me. I was truly blessed.

It is great that things are going well for most of us.
Nice to hear good things and good results.
Now if this computer would decide to work better----It is getting old and so slow. (like me)
