Happy Summer All!
Dayle -am so sorry to hear about your friend, but happy you are at peace that she’s at peace. Good memories are the best! I was going to suggest you get your niece a plaque or something of the Serenity Prayer. We have a few family issues that are beyond understanding, or fixing, and that has really helped me.
Lin – very, very happy DH’s polyps were benign! Unbelievable the high temps you're having.
BettyJ - thanks to DGD for adopting a shelter dog and taking care of her problems. That happens to a lot of volunteers....they just can't resist. We have a bunch who foster dogs all the time until they get adopted.
Phyl - I also made an apron and skirt in Home Ec. Didn't like it then and don't like it now. I do remember how to hem, which comes in handy sometimes. Your playpen sounds well organized now. I'm with Lin - hope it lasts!
Mar - what will you do with yourself when all these repair men are someplace else? Glad FODMAP is working for you.
PeggySue - heard Buddy Holley sing your theme song on the radio on Wednesday and now can't get it out of my head! So, thinking of you a lot!
Yesterday was spent in the kitchen. I made pecan pie brownies, which are good, but not as good as I anticipated. Tooooo sweet. Then mashed potatoes, meatloaf and a huge salad. DDIL brought a Korean squash and sliced and fried it when she got here. SO good. Very sweet. She just uses flour, S&P, dipped in egg and very little oil. If you’re ever in an oriental store, get one! Shaped like a zucchini. I also cleaned just a little. Horrible! I know it doesn’t sound like I did much, but my back hurts after about 15 minutes of standing so have to do stuff in increments.
No plans for today. DDIL brought two huge bags of donuts and I’ll give them to my neighbor and to a friend. Have to get them out of the house!
I think I’m going to get a Swiffer Jet thingie for my floors. Then I hope I’ll use it!
Have a great day today – stay cool. Cheers

Here, I am celebrating the first day of summer by lookin at the snow that fell last night. It's wet and slushy, but it's snow. The flakes were huge and intense for a while yesterday. The temperature will be just under 60 today and tomorrow before returning to the mid 70s.
The changes on barometric pressure are directly connected to my aches and pains. I will be glad to see a week of consistency!

Surprise, the sun is shining here, woke up to it earlier. It was in the 50's early but up to 67° now and still blue skies. Gosh I am afraid to say that out loud. think typing it will be okay!!
Gosh Sue know what that feels like snow late in the year!! Not crazy about it then. Even 50 wasn't such a good idea this morning!
Sorry Dayle about your friend but know you are glad she is not suffering anymore. You will have lot of good memories!! I just went through that with a friend also and she was so ready to just "go" . Was very peaceful about it. She was my traveling companion for years and the memories are really great ones of her and I.
I bet Mar will find something else she wants to do somewhere!!
I am off for lunch boy this has been a busy week but so much fun. today is Emma Day and those are very special. My DD#2 who is her Aunt is going to meet us at the mexican place. She had blood work this morning and Fridays' are her days off this summer. They work extra hours each day to do this. She is trying to get used to the early morning and extra hours. but sure loves the Friday off. She will be taking off to visit with her DD in W.Va this weekend. Know they will have a good time. This is the newly pregnant DGD. She is feeling great and says still pretty tired but anxious for some Mom time.
Lin glad your DH had good news about his test. Know he is glad it is over with. The prep is the worst!!
Umm that is way I do fresh squash in the fall, with all kinds of squash. didn't know it was Korean though. My Mom who was German always made it that way. She did cucumber slices and green tomato slices that way also. I always thought it ruined good veggies but now I do it now and then for a special treat. Penny, enjoyed reading your post about it. My recipe for the fried green tomato slices also calls for some corn meal and I use Panko crumbs also.

Connie - lots of people prepare squash and tomatoes that way, but Korean Squash is a type of squash. Really sweet! Sorry I wasn't specific about that. If you're ever in an oriental vegetable market, try one. DDIL is growing them. I hope to get some seeds for next year!

Morning All!
Slept like a rock last night, but with very vivid dreams. Some not so pleasant, but for the most part very active type stuff. I got a lot of sleep, but it may sound funny, I could do with a nap.
Going out to lunch with my sister today. Made the date at the beginning of the week and I am pushing myself to be happy about going. I’m sure it will be very nice once I get there. She hasn’t seen the new car and I am a bit nervous that she will be critical of how I spend my money. She never says anything, but every once in a while I get the feeling that she is worried that I am overdoing. It’s the raised eye brow that makes me crazy. It could be my own little brain voice, but I don’t think so. Oh well – that’s her problem, not mine.
Betty that’s great what your DGD’s family is doing for that dog. I’m sure he’s going to get all the love and care that he needs. Definitely sounds like a family that loves animals! People who don’t take care of their dogs, shouldn’t be allowed to have them. It’s a life time commitment that is unbreakable.
Connie glad the sun is shining for you! It also means that eventually it will make its way here –seems to be the weather pattern this year.
Lin so glad DH is OK. How’s your mouth feeling? You’ve been through so much lately.
Good news the scales are moving in my favor. Down 2 ½ pounds this week. Finally starting to move again…….
After my lunch have to stop at the eye glass store and pick up my new lenses. I got a call last night that they were in.
Hope everyone has an enjoyable day!
Dayle

wow..they said you could feel this in NJ...anybody?
“series of explosions early Friday tore through a Philadelphia gasoline refinery, the East Coast’s largest, sending shock waves for miles and raining debris on nearby neighborhoods, just as the busy summer driving season was beginning.
Four minor injuries were reported, according to the Philadelphia Fire Department.”
