good morning...Micki has been at one back paw..,wonder if it is an ant bite.
I walked out on the lawn last night when I let him out and now have four bites...one on each side of each ankle...I think of them as lawn mosquitoes. Have to dab Vicks on each ankle before I do that again.
no big plans...hair cut. might try a new Chinese restaurant.

Karen, thanks for the start. They left the bear alone. He probably came down once the people went away. They don't usually relocate them unless they become a threat. I would guess there are still quite a few people alive from the Apollo program. A lot of them were probably in their 20s-40s, so 70s-90s today. I got up and watched the launch from the front window which faces east. There was a pretty orange half moon in the sky and the launch turned the sky orange, so it was pretty. We had some loud rumbling for a few minutes and then I heard the sonic booms from the boosters coming back down. I had to laugh at someone on Next Door asking what the noise was last night and that it sounded like we were being invaded. Then she added that it wasn't the first time she's heard this kind of noise!
Linda, that does sound like ant bites. I always seem to get bitten by something whenever I go outside this time of year.
Waving to all. Hope you have a good Tuesday.

Ouch, Linda and Micki! Enjoy your haircut and Chinese restaurant.
Kathy, I am laughing at your clueless neighbor. I am glad you got a chance to see (and hear) liftoff. Good for the bear. He or she has already been “relocated” through a loss of habitat.
Karen, thanks for the start. The back is better today. I had a Praeger Bibimbop burger with the squash and I baked chicken thighs for Iggy. The doctor’s office did call back and the HRA CS rep was cordial just all business. Did you get the storms last night? Did you go to AF today?
Waving to Becky and Liz.
It is a beautiful day in the low eighties. I did a little weeding this morning and tied up some tomato branches that had escaped the cage. I keep seeing the two small squirrels in the ash tree after lunch. It seems that is their afternoon playground. We haven't seen the raccoon again, TG. Nothing exciting going on today. I am meeting friends Thursday for lunch at Second Street Market. They have a lot of food vendors.

Chele, some of the responses to the neighbor were pretty funny too. The title of her post was "Severe overhead air pressure change early Tuesday AM". Most just responded with SpaceX launch, but one said martian invasion and another said they wanted to live in a bubble like you do. It's loss of habitat for the bears, but also population growth for bears and humans. The bear population has gone from a few hundred in the state to several thousand. I think the counties have to wake up and get the trash problems under control so that they'll move further into the forests instead of getting easy meals from the trash bins. I know when I visit Karen's area all the trash bins around there are bear proof. I don't want to see people or bears get hurt. Glad your back is doing better and you had a productive call from the HRA rep. I don't think I've seen that kind of Praeger burger. That reminds me that I have a box in the freezer that I haven't tried yet.
Karen, forgot to mention that I tried the Teavana tea this weekend. It was unsweetened strawberry apple green tea, although I didn't see strawberry listed in the ingredients. It did have apples and "natural flavors". It was lightly flavored and pretty light tasting since it was green tea. I don't think I'd buy it again for $2.49, but it would be a good one to get for a road trip instead of soda. I'd like to try some of the other flavors. I wish they'd do one with a stronger fruit flavor with maybe 30 calories a bottle. Instead, they're either 0 calories or around 100 calories with sugar added.

Kathy, I wish they wouldn't relocate the bears here, but the tourists think they are cute and want to feed them. So it's relocation or get themselves in trouble trying to score human food and that can sometimes get them euthanized. I would have thought the control people would be 40s to 60s, which would put them all near or over 100. Glad there were some younger ones who are still around to celebrate the 50th anniversary of such an amazing achievement. I'll bet that was amazing to see the launch and the orange sky. That is too funny about the neighbor who had no idea about the launch. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I remember that every one when I was growing up was broadcast live on the 3 major networks and it was an event that families gathered to watch. Now we don't even know about it unless we hear an occasional new item or we hear it from you. I would guess someone educated your neighbor. Wonder if she even knew she was that close to an active space center. Strawberry apple green tea but strawberry wasn't listed on the ingredients? That's a little odd. Thanks for the review. So there was some added sugar, even though they advertise it as "unsweetened"? I guess 100 calories is still lower than the same amount of soda.
I feel your pain, Linda, and Arya feels Micki's. She had an ant bite her between her snout and upper lip about a month ago and the swelling has finally gone down. Never heard of using Vick's to keep them away. I use essential oil blends that the bugs don't like and I can usually keep them at bay as long as I remember to do that, which I am not 100% compliant with. I got a hair cut today as well. Hope you like yours as well as I like mine. Is the Chinese restaurant new in town or new to you? Hope it's good.
Chele, I had to look up your burger. It's Korean, correct? I would be surprised to find that in East Tennessee. Maybe Nashville, but not this far east. Where did you find that variety? Enjoy your beautiful day. It's cloudy and humid here and feels like it could kick up a storm but there's nothing currently on the radar. I guess you scared that raccoon but good. He's not going to come back to face off with you again. We got another good storm around 5:30 last night that dumped half an inch of rain rather quickly. There was also a lot of wind, so we had debris on the roads. I did go to AF and did 30 on the AMT followed by a pretty intense weight workout that I am feeling already. I saw a guy walking on the adjacent treadmill playing chess. Some people run on that machine with a variety of videos so it looks like they were running on a trail, in a race, etc., but I had no idea you could play chess on it. Have fun with your friends on Thursday. I hope you have a nice variety of food vendors. Do they just have food or are there other types of vendors as well?
How was the leg today at the doc's, Liz? I hope there was less irritation. Did she go ahead with the other injection? Do you have a fresh new unna boot?
Becky, it sounds like Scooter does ok on her own unless she wants to be cuddly in a storm. She got a natural bath yesterday, didn't she? Were you able to walk outdoors this morning or was it too hot/humid?
I had a busy day. Follow up with the NP first thing this morning. It appears that Vitamin D and calcium deficiencies are not the cause of my osteoporosis. Cholesterol and triglycerides are just over the "legal limit" which makes no sense since I eat no animal products. She's not concerned and she knows better than to suggest statins. I ate breakfast before I went last week and glucose was still only 93. On my way to the appointment, I saw a turtle in the road, so I stopped. Just as I did, I saw a pickup coming toward me. I waved my arms like a crazy lady to get him to stop. The turtle saw me behind him and picked up the pace, afraid of what this crazy lady behind him might be about to do to him. So I didn't even have to pick him up to carry him into the grass because he had the after-burners kicked in. He had to stop and catch his breath as soon as he got into the grass. I thanked the guy for stopping and went on my way. I stopped at the credit union, picked up a package at the PO for Dale, made a quick grocery stop for a few things, and off to the hair appointment. It feels so much better now that it's thinned out. The length doesn't bother me as much as the heaviness. I was about a mile from home and the low tire pressure light came on. I picked up a piece of metal somewhere. So when I got home, Dale took the tire to get it plugged and he just got back. There was so much debris on the road from the storm that there's no telling where I picked it up but it was definitely less than 3 miles from home. Then when I got to the turnoff for our road, they were putting down asphalt patching so it was difficult to find where the tire was punctured for all the tar, gravel, and tree debris. The UPS guy came and had it all up in his big truck tires as well and it sounded like his truck was falling apart. I don't know how long it's going to take to wear that stuff off the tires. Just for grins, I went online to see what a new Michelin tire was going to cost me if I needed a replacement and with installation and taxes, it will probably be about $250. I used to be able to get 2 tires for that on the Accord. No wonder these tires hold the road so well. They are 225 50R 18's, so lots of tread in contact with the pavement.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Linda We have more mosquitos since our rain yesterday.
Chele I'm glad your back is better. It was up to 90 here today since we haven't had any rain.It was beautiful at 8:00 this morning when I walked 2 miles.
Kathy Where did you find the Teavana tea?
Karen It was 71 degrees and sunny at 8:00 so I was able to get my 2 miles in.It's 90,sunny and humid now so I'm glad I got my walk in early.I am glad the guy stopped this morning. When we see turtles around here it usually means it's going to rain.
Waves to all.

Karen, my dad would've been 34 during Apollo 11 and he had worked there for six years by then. They hired in a lot of people just out of school or with a few years of experience during that time, so the average age skewed pretty young. The launches do get mentioned on our local news, but it's not the wall to wall coverage like they used to have. I get alerts from the space center when a launch is scheduled, but I sometimes forget.
I thought that was odd that the strawberry apple tea didn't have strawberry listed on the ingredients too. This one had no sugar added and was 0 calories. I thought it would be better with a stronger fruit flavor which could add a few calories, but they wouldn't have to add sugar to it. The sweetened flavors do have added sugar. Wow on the turtle encounter and I'm glad you and the turtle were okay. I think I paid a little over $800 to replace the tires on my last Accord, but I had the V-6 which had larger tires. I guess I haven't seen the latest treadmills, so didn't know they had games either. I've seen the ones with the videos. You must've had a lot of wind to get that much debris on the road. I hate that sound of the tar hitting the car. They did a decent job with our road repairs and there wasn't too much tar scattered around.
Becky, I got the Teavana tea at Publix.

Becky, I am glad you got your walk in while it was still cool enough.
Karen, I am glad you were so close to home when you saw the low pressure light. I have picked up a nail on every car I have ever had. Good job on saving the turtle. Too funny about it picking up the pace and having to rest. That shell is heavy. I know what you mean about hair being heavy.
Kathy, I am sure the neighbors had a lot to say. 😁

Kathy, I didn't realize they had such young people in NASA control. Do you get notifications on an app for the launches? I wasn't so much worried about me with the approaching truck, but the turtle. The guy would have had no place to swerve to avoid it. I could have quickly jumped out of the way. Dale said he has shooed a few out of the road around that same place, so they must nest around there. The sound of tar and gravel is not a pleasant one. What department in Publix did you find the Teavana?
We see turtles after it rains, Becky. There are some low areas here that the turtles seem to want to get away from. So after it has rained, like it did last night, I had a feeling that I was going to see at least one of them this morning. Fortunately, this guy was on a straight stretch so I felt safe jumping out of the car to do the rescue. I have threated to get a "will break for turtles" bumper sticker. Congrats on having a perfect morning for a walk.
Chele, I've picked up several turtles over the time we have lived here. Some are small and I can carry it with one hand and others are heavy enough that it takes 2 hands. This guy today would have definitely been a 2-hander.

..Congrats on the turtle rescue! I just wrapped a little leather turtle purse..legs, head etc just like the left my grand niece left in AZ. It is in a box to mail for her birthday with books for all three kids, a couple old toys sold by my museum, some modeling clay and silly putty! I send them all a box after school gets out every summer.
