Thanks for the start, Ninja Turtle Saver.
I have had a busy cooking morning and am ready to put my feet up for awhile. I went to Kroger for supplies to make barbecued butter beans, avocado salad and enchiladas and have been chopping, stirring and washing dishes ever since. The avocado salad is done and in the fridge. The barbecued butter beans are cooled and in a container and the enchilada prep is done. I will do the cooking for those closer to dinner time. The enchiladas have meat so they are all for Iggy. I got the recipe from the Eating Well email I receive every day. It was a really easy recipe so I thought I would try it.
Karen, my winking chef, the beans are divine, dahling. The Second Street Market also has a potter, a dairy outlet, a local meat purveyor, the bread man, a rag rug maker, jewelry makers, the Flower Man, an importer of Peruvian goods, a coffee cart and a few other crafters. Most of the farmers only come on Saturday but there are a couple of small produce retailers there Thu - Sun for the local residents. Our downtown is lacking a grocery store.
It is another sunny day and a bit more humid than it has been and is already 85°. Sitting down now and waving to all.

Good Afternoon Chicks and thanks for the start Karen.
Chele - you've been a cooking whirly bird apparently today so good for you and taking a break! We are sunny and hot and not quite as sticky as yesterday. St. Crazy continues its journey to not letting up much. Maybe next week with the holiday but that is definitely not a certainty. The Second Street Market sounds wonderful. We have a farmer's market in town each Saturday but more often than not, I found the purveyors and fare less than appealing. I did and do always enjoy the pickle man who I occasionally break down and buy horseradish pickles from.
Karen - all hail to the ninja turle saver extraordinaire! Thank heavens the guy stopped and didn't run you over which would have probably happened here in NY. Nice to hear that you're happy with the hair cut and thinning. I'm sure it makes a difference in keeping you cool! The wound is finally appearing to heal. I am back in a fresh Unna boot and will have one more this coming Friday. I will have the 2nd injection next Tuesday on the same leg and then wait until the end of July for the injection on the other leg.
Kathy - sounds like there has been much talk about the bear again. Very cool that you were able to see the launch even from the house. My dad was one of those young men who spent a great deal of time at Nasa and on the west coast with the space programs. He was also heavily involved in his younger years in traveling the world and helping to set up radar for RCA and the program.
Becky - I hope you are feeling alright and the knees aren't bothering you too much. Sounds like the weather settled down a little bit.
Linda - poor you and poor Micki with the ant bites! YIKES!! I am personally a mosquito magnet which drives me nuts! I welt up and itch like a crazy person. Hope they get all of the AC noises and such resolved for you soon!
Just wanted to stop in and say hello to all. Gary will take Zoe to the vet tomorrow so he can see the state of the tail. I need to leave early tomorrow as my mind has gone gooey and I need to renew my driver's license. Hopefully I won't be waiting forever to have that renewal done. If it's not too late, I might get lucky and have Gary take me for Paella for by BD. If not we can always go on the weekend.
Be safe and have a good evening gals! Ciao for now~

Happy Birthday Eve, Liz. I hope you get your birthday paella tomorrow. It is good to hear that the leg is healing. Good luck to Gary and Zoe tomorrow and to you at the DMV. I like horseradish pickles as well. Sorry to hear St Crazy is still nuts.

Mine are from what I call lawn mosquitoes...they stay low on the grass at night for a while in summer...so I now dab Vicks on my ankles at night to take Micki out.
Liz, so glad that is healing and hope the wrap thing goes soon!
Museum morning and puttering at home this afternoon...those little things that turn up around the house. Need to do some menu planning.
Chele, Iwant to come to your house for dinner!

Thanks for the start Karen.
Chele You did have a busy morning. You deserve to put your feet up for awhile. When I first read your post we were only at 83 degrees although extremely humid. We had a little sprinkle this afternoon and it went down to 75 and at 3:45 it's only 78 and still humid. Not much sun here today.
Liz It's good to see you posting in the middle of the week.I think the injection in my left knee worked but not so much on the right knee.I walked 2 miles this morning and Kenneth wanted to get a haircut so I walked ans shopped some in WM plus we had to buy groceries at HEB so by 12:00 I already had 10K steps which is unusual for me and now my legs hurt so other than walking when my Garmin beeps at me I'm done.Happy Birthday tomorrow.

Becky, that is a lot of steps by noon. My knees would be crackling, my hips would be popping and my dogs would be woofing, if I did that many steps in so short a time. I am glad you cooled off. It is 88° roght now and we expect the same or warmer for the next couple of days. Linda, I made plenty so come on over. Here is the recipe for the enchiladas. I told Iggy they are more American than Mexican but he liked them. Firehouse enchiladas
Karen, you asked about the Praeger bibimbap burger. It is Korean influenced and I found it at Meijer, I believe. We have a large population of Koreans in our neighborhood. We even have a Korean Christian church right across from the Sikh temple right around the corner. Dayton is getting quite a few different immigrant groups these days. I love the mix of people, culture and language.

Chele my left knee is pretty good from the injection but not so much on the right knee so believe me it and my right hip was screaming.I had taken a 2.15 mile walk before we left so I already had 6000 steps before we got to town.My Garmin beeps at me once an hr if I haven't gotten up so I have walked through commercials a few hrs this afternoon.I may end up with 12K b/c I haven't done any formal exercise this afternoon and I don't plan to.Tomorrow I will be walking WM again while Kenneth gets my car inspected so I think I may just ride the bike in the morning. It's only 81 right now.I think we got up to 90 before the sprinkle and they said the same thing may happen tomorrow afternoon so we will see.

Chele, we both must have had the prep/cook vibe today. I hope the butter beans turn out as amazing for you as they always do for me. I figured you would fix yourself some veggie enchiladas. Hope Iggy likes the new recipe. I need to subscribe to the Eating Well emails, but never quite get around to it. Fortunately, Liz forwards most of the vegetarian ones (thanks, Liz). There seem to be a lot of downtown areas without grocery stores. I think I tend to notice those things more than some people do because my grandparents, who lived just a couple blocks apart, had a local grocery store about equidistant from their homes. It went out of business years ago, so the closest grocery now is a convenience store, so not many healthy options. It's such a shame when that happens. Is "the bread man" the one you get the special loaves from? I made rag rugs for a while. It's becoming a lost art, like so many others. Is tomorrow when you go with your GFs? Hope you bring home some amazing things and have a tasty/healthy lunch. Yes, I can be the Ninja Turtle Saver. I'm actually married to the Turtle Whisperer. I wondered if you had a lot of Koreans that might eat that variety of burger. I miss living in an area with ethnic diversity. Austin was like that. Around here it's about 95% white and 5% everybody else. So generic Mexican and Asian are all our supermarkets tend to carry.
I don't think I've had horseradish pickles, Liz. How hot are they? I wouldn't have stopped in the middle of the road on too many roads even around here. This one isn't much of a road, so people tend to go slower to avoid the potholes, which are quite numerous. What a relief that your wound seems to finally be healing. Does the Unna boot keep the heat in so your leg sweats? Will you be taking Friday off next week to give you a 4-day weekend? I also seem to be a mosquito magnet and also a tick magnet this year, apparently. I hope you will actually get your birthday dinner on your birthday. We don't call it St. Crazy for no reason, so I guess it continues to live up to the name.
Linda, your mosquitoes aren't those little tiger striped ones I hope. I hate those sneaky little bugs.I can relate to those little things that turn up around the house. Did you get your menu planning accomplished?
Sorry the leg is still giving you problems, becky. But it sounds like you got your 10K before it started being too cranky.
Kathy, how's your weather? Are you getting rain again? Any talk of tropical storms or hurricanes? Was today your grocery day? Publix has salad on BOGO this week. Since I pulled the remaining arugula and romaine plants out of the garden this weekend, I'm going to have to buy salad this week. I haven't had to do that for about a month. Thanks for the location in Publix of the Teavana. That's where I'll look tomorrow. I may also go to Target because I think I saw that they have it.
Arya was out of turkey and sweet potatoes, so I made both of those for her this morning. At the same time, I marinated some tofu in poke sauce and baked it before dinner. I also made a new vegan oil-free ranch dressing that has tofu as its base and it was pretty good. I do enjoy ranch, but it's not vegan and the commercial stuff tends to have oil in it. Since I quit eating oils (which are a processed food), I don't like the greasiness. Similar to when people give up salt or sugar and foods are either too salty or too sweet for their tastes then. I washed a load of our everyday around the house clothes, vacuumed, and made a few essential oil preparations. I am planning to start listening to podcasts on the NuStep on Thursdays, so I had to download a couple of apps to the phone and charge the bluetooth headset. I think that has been my day. No wonder I'm a little tired. Could also blame that on the heat because the heat index is 95 right now. For any of you who are Beatles fans, there is a movie coming out Friday that you might enjoy. It's called Yesterday and it involves a world where the Beatles didn't exist. I won't spoil the rest of it but I can't wait to see it. The new avatar is a photo Dale took Monday evening after our storm came through.

Happy birthday, Liz!
I never see the bugs in the dark!
Just thinking how wonderful it must be to spend your life expecting someone else at home will plan and cook dinner, or you will go out to eat or fetch take out but never do it yourself. sigh.
Just sat down waiting for pizza to reheat after making salad aNd cooking beans, potatoes and eggs for asparagus nicoise style tomorrow and air frying eggplant slices for eggplant parm tomorrow.
museum work this morning, then playing games on ipad, cooking, cleaning out old stuff in fridge and veg bins,
Bought this tee shirt in navy blue from Amazon today.
We have been watching a lot of European series with subtitles on MHZ (streaming), mostly French mysteries, German cops, and Montalbano...famous Italian cop in Sicily.

Chele, that dinner menu sounds wonderful. I wish we had something like the Second Street Market around here. Thanks for the link to the enchilada recipe. Looks good. That's interesting on the Korean churches. I enjoy the mix of cultures here too. Liz, small world! My parents and aunt and uncle worked at Patrick AF Base in the late 50s and I think worked for RCA for at least part of that time. My dad worked with my uncle, so my parents met through him and my aunt. I interviewed there and had a job offer when I was a new grad in the early 80s, but I took an offer at the Johnson Space Center instead. I'm glad the leg is healing. Hope all goes well at the DMV and with Gary and Zoe at the vet. Paella sounds like an excellent choice for your BD dinner. Happy Birthday eve! Becky, FL did away with inspections many years ago. I remember having to have my car inspected when I moved to Houston and the guy didn't believe that FL only has the back license plate. After several minutes of trying to explain to him that we only had the back plate, he finally gave me the inspection sticker, but he acted like he was letting me get away with something! Does TX still have the front and back plates? Good luck with the inspection. That was a lot of steps for a short period of time. Hope you're not too sore tomorrow. Karen, when we went to Nashville, we couldn't find any kind of grocery store or even a convenience store anywhere near our hotel. There sure is a market for one there, but I'm guessing maybe it's too expensive for the stores in that area. It was HOT today with a high of 97 and a heat index over 100. According to the weather guessers, we have a large cloud of Saharan dust over us which is preventing tropical storms from forming. It's also preventing rain, although we got a pretty violent thunderstorm yesterday. Hope you can find the Teavana in Publix. It was on sale for $2.19 today, but I think that might be the end of the sale cycle. They had a lot of bottled teas in that section, so I'm going to have to check out some of the other kinds too. Linda, the only time I had a home cooked meal waiting for me when I came home from work was when my parents were visiting.
