My colleague was furious. She and her husband went from never owing or getting refunded (nicely balanced) to owing $10k for the 2018 tax year.
And wow at the $15k property tax bill! That makes me feel like I got a deal!

cyndee I know you are looking at everything before making a move but I would really study taxes and cost of living in France. Mon Dieu, tres cher! (= My God, very expensive) I know some areas in the US are very expensive to live and others not so much. Texas is considered a "lower tax" state but with all of the people moving here, prices and taxes on everything are going through the roof.

Money is definitely at the top of the list, but culture is, too. The near future may also affect our prospects in the US. Culture is a unique consideration. One might feel more comfortable across a sea than in a different part of one's own country. Even if eggs may be more expensive, security may make up greatly for the difference. We all have our unique circumstances and priorities. Oui, je comprends votre francais. Je parle un peu. Vous n'etes pas oblige de traduire pour moi.
