Happy Day All!
BettyJ - just what you need is more complication in your life - both with Dave's heart and your back. NOT! Sending you hugs.
Lin - I'm on the exact same page about it being nice to have someone else to plan, cook, pay bills, organize life etc. You said it better on Owls, but it really stuck a chord with me.
Emily - the twins are going to be 9??? Unbelievable! They are so very, very lucky to have you close.
Mar - I'm so glad the smell is gone from DD's apartment and she can live there. What a relief for her. Hope your headaches are better.
Dayle - I agree - the exercise Lin talked about sounds good for everyone! Even I can do that with my bad toes!
Connie - I've heard that about Bounce dryer sheets, but never used them. Good idea! Prayers for DGD and the baby. My DGD is also expecting, although with a due date the end of July. She started having severe contractions about a week ago, so they put her on bed rest. Can't believe she's having another baby - her son is almost 9!
Had a nice time at the shelter yesterday. I didn’t go as early as I usually do so had to haul food bowls and water buckets to the outside pens. Much harder, but more exercise. The ladies then went to lunch (Mexican) to celebrate two of their birthdays. Nice.
For some reason I've really been "down" lately. I'm sure part of it is frustration with the lack of progress in Florida, but that's becoming the norm. I know this sounds whiney, but I just don't feel appreciated. There, I've said it. It just sort of came out. Tried to talk to DH about my feelings yesterday and he just does not understand, or accept. Keeps telling me how lucky and fortunate we are, how many people like me and I don't really have anything to complain about. I know all that! Feelings sure are confusing sometimes. ...... whew! wonder where THAT all came from.
Today I have an eye doctor appointment. This is just to get more tests to try to justify getting more prescription Restasis. For some reason the insurance company started this out of the blue.
I forgot to invite DS/DDIL for supper (it’s Thursday), but will do so. Then will have to decide what to have! There will definitely be a stop at the grocery on the way home from the doctor. I’ve made four batches of fig cakes and am already out of eggs. Just bought 1.5 dozen on Saturday. Yesterday gave away the last of the cakes from last year!
Well, need to get started with the day. Hoping everyone has a good day. Cheers.

Oh - forgot to talk about the fig cake. It's very much like banana bread. I'll include the recipe, as you can use any kind of fruit. It includes a glaze, but I seldom do that as I freeze it.
FIG CAKE
Ingredients:
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 1/2 cups light brown sugar, packed or sub ½ cup honey or maple syrup
• 2 teaspoons baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
• 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
• 4 ounces butter, melted
• 1/2 cup vegetable oil
• 3 eggs, beaten (room temp)
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• 1 cup fig preserves – (I use fresh figs if I have them. Can sub other fruits)
• 1 cup chopped pecans More is better (2 cups)! Toasted in microwave
Preparation:
Heat oven to 325°. Grease and flour a 12-cup Bundt or tube cake pan or spray with baking spray. (or whatever – mini loaf pans, cupcake, etc. – I use the mini loaf pans and freeze them.)
Combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and spices in a large mixing bowl; add butter and oil and beat well. Add eggs and beat until well blended. Beat in buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in preserves and chopped pecans. Pour into the prepared baking pan; bake for 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester inserted into the cake comes out clean.
Buttermilk Glaze (This is the only one I’ve used and makes way more than you need. Cake is good with no glaze as well)
1 c sugar
½ c buttermilk
1 T light corn syrup
1 t vanilla
Boil for 3 minutes
Caramel Glaze
This delicious caramel glaze is the perfect topping for a spice cake, or use it to finish just about any Bundt cake.
Ingredients:
• 4 tablespoons butter
• 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
Preparation:
In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir in sugars. Cook the butter and sugar mixture, stirring, for 1 minute or until bubbly. Stir in the heavy cream. Bring to a boil. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, for 2 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool slightly. Spoon the caramel glaze over a completely cooled cake.

Morning All!
Penny, Feel free to have a melt down here any time. I certainly have them often enough and that is one of the things I love about this board and the people in it. We all have ups and downs – it’s part of life, but to be heard and understood is an invaluable and comforting pleasure. As far as DH not understanding your feelings – the unappreciated thing , is more understood by women. We really do so much, we plan, we manage, we nurture, - we are the whole package. And it can be exhausting at times! So vent away, do some self-pampering and relax it will pass in time.
I saw some fresh black figs in Trader Joes and almost bought them. But the container was too big for just me. I spoke to a woman who was standing next to the display and she was so happy to see them. I told her that I had never had them and she looked at me as if I was some kind of deprived orphan. What I did buy and it’s bad, decadent and really bad for WW program. TJ makes a chocolate brownie crisp which kind of tastes like the top of a brownie – the crunchy part. 3 cookies are 5 points, so that means I won’t be eating them very often, but when I crave a chocolate fix they are hidden away and waiting. If you are a brownie person, they are really worth trying.
It’s a bit early for me – the cleaning lady is here and the garbage is out for the day. After she leaves I am going to stake the veggies on the deck. They are starting to get a bit leggy and are flopping over.
Hope everyone enjoys their day!
Dayle

Good morning Penny & ATF,
Sunny and currently 83; the high for today will be 90.
No plans for today other than going to the grocery store later after street cleaning. I don't want to lose my spot on the good side. When I get back I'll be able to park in my handicap spot.
Have a great day!

Good morning everyone
Well....the headache is still happening off and on. Hope today is better. I think it’s the medicated shampoo. It’s a side effect. Hopefully my system will get adjusted to it and headaches will stop. Need to use it until end of July. Itching is not as much but scalp still reddish.
Today is WW meeting. Not sure why but weight is up a little this morning. I know it goes up and down all the time but hate it on weigh in day. All and all losing a little weight every week.
My friend I have been helping with her remodeling projects made a mistake in her choice of plumbing pipes for her house. Didn’t know she did not use copper. She chose PEX piping when doing leak repairs a couple years ago and now on her current leak issue. Now planning a hole house re pipe with PEX. Those pipes are not healthy, attract rodents that chew holes in them and in a house fire will expel harmful gas if they get too hot. We have new upgraded copper lines that are thicker and will last longer than we will be alive. She should have done the same thing since she is planning on staying in her house like we are. All this information is online and our plumber did confirm that those issues are true but most people are choosing PEX to save money. They still need copper on any outside piping because PEX is not designed for outside.
Will be back this afternoon and catch up on personals.

Penny, we are all good with needing a hug now and then and feeling unappreciated!! Don't think people are very good about saying Thank you near enough. Even on the boards, so if we haven't said thank you and you are doing a great job on here and know the Florida things must be very frustrating.
Would you believe my friend in Orlando has a wet ceiling and needs to talk to both insurance people and roofing company that will do the work, He is 90 and doesn't need to be on roof or frustrated like he is. No call backs from his home owners and it has been couple weeks. Plus the roofing companies won't talk to him until he does talk to his home owners. They are using the hurricane as an excuse but you are having trouble too !!! So what are they doing?? not even a receptionist at the insurance company and it is a reputable company.
I wanted it all taken care of for both you and for him!!!
No Plans for today, My DD just texted and said they are tar and chipping her whole area at the same time. So she is shut up in house with AC on. That smell is bad for her. I don't mind it but she has allergies. So we have postponed our day. DD#1 who works here in my area will be really upset when she goes to go home this afternoon. She has a White van. It stay a bit sticky for at least today. Should be okay by tomorrow.
Guess my DGD#2 is really upset with her coworkers-- they are trying to make her feel better and not worry about the baby right now but she says they don't know "everything is okay". she just needs a bit of tea and sympathy and understanding. She is worried and not going to go away until she knows what is going on. Told her to call even in middle of night if she can't sleep for stress. We will chat. her DH is fine with her but he does tend to say Just the insurance company wanting more money. sometimes men don't have a clue what we need. Right!!Penny??

I hear you Penny. I really appreciate time it takes to do personals so people feel listened to.
And The ongoing things would have stressed me to medication long ago! Yes, you are better off than some but that does not excuse the insurance company that was always so glad to take your money. One would want repairs before it is another storm season a year later.
No plans today..
should finally get to the only chair yoga class all week ...i tend to forget because it is an odd time.., 12:15. Should be doing water class but not too sure about getting this skin into pool at the Y that has lots of kids learning to swim most hours of the morning. that chlorine smell comes from pool chemicals reacting to urine!
Mar, if your shampoo is Norizal..something like that, i had it once and when I shampooed in the shower, my whole back turned red!

Hello again
Penny- Definitely I appreciate you on the posts on this board. You have a huge heart and help all of us. Hopefully we help you also. You have been through so much with Florida house. I am sure he appreciates you even though he doesn’t say so.
A lot of men have trouble expressing feelings. I asked hubby to write card sentiments instead of a store bought card with writing in it. So now we get wonderful cards full of nice thoughts and appreciation on birthday, Christmas, anniversary and Valentine’s Day. I do the same for him. We buy blank cards and write love notes in them.
Gained 0.2 at WW meeting. Basically maintained. Meeting was good. Went shopping at the mall after and walked 2 miles. Bought one top at Macy’s.
In a few minutes I am going out on patio with the fan and see if mosquitoes come at me. I saw some on patio this morning.

Lin - the medicated shampoo is 2% ketoconazole. So far no skin reaction using it in shower. Was freaking out it’s orange color. Was worried about the shower grout but it turned white when using it.
This morning headache went away. Have not had another one yet today.
I am on patio right now laying on chase with short sleeve top and capris and no stocks or shoes. The indoor tower fan blowing on me. Unbelievable I saw a mosquito trying to land on me and couldn’t. It got blown away. That’s the only one that has tried. Have not seen any others. This is great. Hope this continues
