This thread is for all who like to do sewing or crafting of any kind. We are here to share and learn from each other. We invite all who do crafts to join us. Good morning all, Temperature will be 90* today and hot. It seems like we were just complaining about how cold it was and now it is hot. I guess we are just never happy with the weather. I love Fall, the colors, the temperature and the breezes. I didn't do much yesterday so today I still have cleaning and finances to do. I think I am still gearing down from a busy weekend. I did go to choir practice last night and we practiced a new arrangement of the Battle Hymn of the Republic. I really like to sing the patriotic songs and we usually only do it on Memorial Day and July 4th. We also had a going-away party for one of our members. She was downsized from her company and she found another job in South Carolina. She is leaving the middle of July and will be missed. We bought her a leather-bound hymn book and each of us signed on the page of our favorite hymn. Nice! Please keep my DGD Aly in your prayers. She had a sonogram last Thursday and the doctor called to say there is a spot on the heart. This could be indicative of a Downs Syndrome Baby. She is spazzing out. Her husband has a brother with Downs. But it could be nothing but a spot. She does not want to have an amniocentesis, could be dangerous to the baby, and she will not abort it. But she is worried. Doctors can be wrong you know. Have a good one.

Good afternoon Becki and Phyl. I had planned to be gone most of today, out of town for a friend!s birthday party, but this morning bad weather was forecasted so the gal driving 4 of us was scared to go, so she and I (maybe more) decided to stay home. So, since I was planning to be gone, I haven’t done much of anything besides the social media and knitting. I did fix a salad for a potluck here in our building tonight, but that has been it. And tomorrow I have 3 outside things that will keep me busy. And, Saturday I’m going to a once-a-year big birthday party for my great-grandkids which is out of town.
Becki, I pray that Aly’s pregnancy turns out the way she wants. However, having a DS baby in our family almost 34 years ago was a true blessing, not a curse that some might say. Yes, we all wanted her to be born perfect, but that wasn’t God!s plan for us. She is my granddaughter and a joy to be with. I spend almost every Friday with her for lunch and then knitting. She influenced so many through her mom’s yarn shop with her knowledge of knitting and crocheting and showing her loving and caring personality. The yarn shop is closed but small groups of the yarn lovers meet in various places. Emily and I (and her mom when available) meet with a group on Fridays. She and her mom go to another on Tuesday evenings. Emily works in a local family restaurant on Sat. & Sun. She lives at home with her parents. When she can no longer live with them the plan is that her brother will oversee her care. Oh, I didn’t plan to say so much, but so many people think all those born with DS are a burden to their family which isn’t the case with my DGD.
Phyl, yes, it is hard to know what to say to others about the instances you mentioned. Sometimes less or nothing is better, just a smile or hug.I was on the receiving end when DH passed, but I understood what’s they meant even though it wasn’t always said very tactfully. I tried not to let it bother me.
