Good Morning from hot and humid NY Chicks. First let me say many thanks to all of you for the birthday wishes and lovely pictures!! Chele - how is the tummy doing? Are you still hot and humid as well? We are due to have rain sometime late this morning and then showers off and on for the rest of the day. DMV was tolerable as we were able to get in and out in about 45 minutes. I was very glad I had filled out my paperwork online and brought it with me. I have a temp paper license and will receive the new one is roughly 2 weeks. Both Thurs. and yesterday were just ridiculously hectic and weird. With Pride Weekend coming this weekend in the city, trying to get to the train station even in a cab became a nightmare! We put off Paella until probably this evening but did go to a newly opened Mexican restaurant we discovered that has very good food and very reasonable. My splurge was a peach margarita and it was excellent! What are you up to this weekend? Kathy - It always surprises me how many folks go to Disney during the summer months. I know school is out and it's vacation time but I would think the weather and those lines would be a bit more prohibitive. What have you been up to lately? How is DM and the family doing? DS and niece are in Anguilla since Wed. visiting my nephew and having a nice beach vacation. The pictures they've posted look like they're having stellar weather. Linda - understood your concern about that pool and the kids. How is DH doing with his taste buds and smell? How are you feeling now? Unbelievable what some folks will do who have been servicing you for that long and then become twits!! Did you get to relax and do your reading? How is Micki doing? I was at another campus yesterday and walked my tush off which isn't usually bad but after the new boot and dressing and the knee not being happy; I came home one big OUCH! Iced both knees and elevated the leg to try to get everything calmed down. Becky - sounds like your weather has been somewhat similar to ours. How are the knees doing? I hope Kenneth and the fur babies are all doing well. Anything doing for you this weekend? I suspect I will do some errands and a couple chores around the house and then try to elevate and ice again. Karen - I presume that Dale is already on the road for his triathlon? Sounds like you have a number of good options for entry into the county fair. My neighbor next door is doing well with some herb boxes she planted which is nice. I haven't checked on Gary's tomato plants to see how they are coming along. The wound is finally healing which is a blessing. The redness and severe tenderness has diminished greatly. If I had brought my compression sock yesterday, she would have had me put that on instead of the boot to see how it went. I have the next injection on Tues. afternoon in the same leg and then the right leg will be done at the end of July. I don NOT want to have this issue repeat itself!! My BD was fine albeit a bit frenetic; Gary did surprise me with tickets to a limited engagement of Bat Out of Hell that will be in the city for Aug. and Sept. The music should be good and I'm looking forward to seeing the show. How is Arya doing with the rain and storms you've had? I haven't been sleeping well all week so I've felt a bit like a walking zombie on occasion. I've only tried the Meyer Lemon Teavana unsweetened that I will pick up occasionally at Starbucks on the way home. Zoe's tail amputation is scheduled for July 12th; our regular vet will do the surgery but the other surgeon will be in house that afternoon as a back up in case. How are the feets and the new shoes doing? I also still wear a swimsuit but only on vacation at the beach. I probably scare people with my compression stockings still being on but Oh Well, the sights I see in the city every day are much worse than me . Alright dear ladies, I hope you all have a safe and relaxing Saturday. I am heading to make some coffee and munch on some watermelon. Ciao for now~

I hope you are enjoying your BD Saturday, Liz. I bet that show is great. I love Meatloaf. I am happy to near the leg is doing better. I am not surprised there was frenzy at St Crazy on your BD. That seems to be the regular pace.
Just a quick drive through for me. Iggy and I are on our way out again. He wants to look at a couple of things in Best Buy. We hit the farmerās market downtown this morning but did not dawdle. It is too hot.š„µ
Have a good Saturday.

Liz, I'm always amazed at how crowded the theme parks are during the summer too, but I guess it is the only time of year a lot of families can come. It's so expensive now too with tickets over $100/day. What a great birthday present! I'm sure the show will be a lot of fun. Glad your leg is doing a bit better and hope you get that birthday paella soon. The tropics have been quiet so far, so sounds like your DS picked a good time to visit Anguilla. I bet it's beautiful there right now. I've had a mango margarita, but don't think I've had a peach one. Sounds good. Family is doing fine, but has been busy. DN is in Japan for his graduation present trip. I've seen a few pictures and looks like he's been seeing a lot of interesting places and having a good time. He took Japanese in college, so can speak enough to get by, but I think a lot of people speak English over there. Trump was in Orlando causing traffic issues the day DN left from the airport. Can't believe he followed DN to Japan and a couple of things he wanted to see were closed due to Trump being there!
Chele, we're supposed to get a lot of rain, but it's just been overcast so far. I think they've been getting some on the coast. At least it's keeping our temps down in the 80s for today. Don't blame you for not dawdling at the farmer's market in the heat.
Karen, we still haven't made it to Dollywood. It always seems to be closed when we're there or we just don't have time. I thought about mixing the Teavana with some plain tea too, so I think I'll try one of the other flavors. Have you had any fireworks yet? They've already started here, so it could be a long week. I think I mentioned that we have that loophole where you just have to claim you're using the fireworks for agricultural purposes and you can buy anything you want. I don't mind them shooting some off on the 4th, but wish they would stop by midnight.
Waving to Becky and Linda. Enjoy your Saturday.

Thanks for the start, Liz. I hate that you are also having to endure the humidity. I took Arya out about 5:30 and my eyeballs fogged up. Congrats on success at DMV. Are you going to take your compression sock on Tuesday? Hope the leg is making significant improvement by then. I have seen worse things than a swimsuit accompanied by compression socks. Sounds like a fashion statement to me! I hope the new Mexican place does well. Enjoy your Paella this evening. When you posted this morning, Dale was on the road and almost to the race venue. He was 2nd in his age group, so good result. I don't like the early wake ups, however. He got up at 3:45 but Arya was ready to get up at the usual time so I got no extra sleep. Nice that your DS and DN are having such great weather. I won't have difficulty remembering the date of Zoe's surgery because my DGM would have turned 112 that day. Are you taking Friday off this week? Chele, what did you find at the farmers' market? Did Iggy get what he wanted at BB? Don't blame you for not wanting to be out in the heat. How's the digestive system? Theme park ticket prices are definitely outrageous, Kathy. You'll have to make Dollywood a priority some day. What inspired your DN to take Japanese? That is a pretty difficult language to learn, from what I understand. I'm glad he's enjoying himself. No fireworks yet except when the Smokies minor league baseball team has a night game and then it's way across the lake and out by the interstate, so we can hear and see them but they aren't close enough to cause problems. I'm curious as to how fireworks in FL are used for agricultural purposes. Scaring away predators? I would think it would be counter to agriculture because you can stress out the farm animals but also catch the pasture grass on fire. The fireworks tents are open in the county here (fireworks are illegal in the three major cities) but I have yet to see any customers shopping when I go by. The neighbors haven't been spending as much time here this summer (their permanent residence is about an hour away), so we're hoping they won't be here for the holiday. Becky, are you as hot and humid as the rest of us? Are fireworks legal in your county? Were you able to walk today or was it too hot and you just had to bike instead? Is Scooter in or out today? Did the new landscapers do a good job, Linda? I know you enjoy working outside, but will things be easier on you because of the way they are taking care of your yard? Are you getting your digestive system back to normal? Are your temperatures edging upward? I heard a town in France had an all-time record high yesterday of almost 114 degrees. Dog moms, I hope what you are feeding your babies doesn't appear on this list: Tainted Dog Food. This is just criminal IMO. It takes time to cook for my little one but it's worth it not to have to worry about these kinds of things. Why can't the pet food companies be more responsible? I ordered a self-watering planter from Amazon today that should be here on Tuesday. I'll get the herbs in it quickly so they can acclimate and so I can figure out the watering system. I hope to get the aloe and the holy basil transplanted tomorrow so that will be done. Dale stopped to pick up dinner on the way home so I will just have to warm up my salmon tacos and his peanut crusted catfish for an easy dinner prep. I think I mentioned that I am part of a Fitbit project where I have to take a picture of every meal and post it to a closed group. I seem to be the only one posting on a regular basis so I wonder if this will be a short project. Since I'm already tracking on MFP, it's extra work for no extra benefit for me.The theory seems to be if you see what you're eating, you'll make changes. I hope it works that way for some people but I eat pretty clean so no changes anticipated.

Thanks for the start Liz.I know about hot and humid. Not too humid today but it is 93.It sounds like a good splurge for your birthday.I hope you are able to go out tonight. The injection in the left knee seems to have helped fairly well but not as well as the right one.It feels some better but not as much comfort as I had hoped for.Kenneth and the fur babies are fine.Scooter is spoiled rotten but that's nothing new.We didn't have anything planned for today.I walked a little over 2 mi this morning and rode the recumbent bike this afternoon.Tomorrow will be church and usual Sunday afternoon chores.Nothing exciting.Ouch on an injection in the same leg.
Chele I hope you found something good at the farmers market.Ours is only open one Sat/month and we haven't been yet.I think the next one is still 2 wks away.Enjoy shopping.
Karen Congrats to Dale for coming in 2nd in his age group. It's 93 at 4:00 but I walked around 8:00 when it was 78 degrees.I also rode the recumbent bike. Not as humid today but with a 50% chance of rain tomorrow it will more than likely be humid by morning.Scooter is in for awhile and out for awhile.Kenneth was shredding grass this morning and Scooter hates loud noises so she wanted in after my walk.My Garmin vivofit 4 has been messing up since we were stuck out in the downpour a few days ago so I went ahead and ordered the vivosmart 4 from Amazon.Today is my first day using it so I am still trying to figure it out.It is a lot different from the vivofit. When I was still using my Fitbit they offered me the same thing but I wasn't interested.I am now tracking calories on itrackbites and I like it so much better.I could have macros as a second metric but am happy just doing calories instead of points for now.
Waves to Kathy and Linda.

Linda, that video is hysterical, but can I ever relate! I found some cookies at Tuesday Morning when I was looking for planters. Shouldn't have even ventured into the food aisle. Sugar is not my friend. My new avatar is for your Micki and my Phoebe. Kind of their motto. Wish Arya was a bit more like them. Let me know how you like your Vivosmart 4, Becky, That's the model I'm looking at when I have to replace the Fitbit, which may be sooner rather than later because I seem to be having to charge it more frequently. Is your first Garmin still under warranty so you can return it for a refund? I thought the Vivofit was one you could swim with, so it's weird that it would start messing up after being in the rain. Isn't the Vivosmart one you need to charge? I kind of wish I hadn't signed up for the Fitbit project. Chele, what did you get from the farmers and how are you planning to prepare it? Dale found a seedless watermelon at the orchard, so I'm looking forward to digging into that. When does DN return from Japan, Kathy? Shouldn't be too long before he starts grad school. Liz, how was Paella last night? Is it a Spanish restaurant, bistro or something else? Are you off this Friday? Kathy and Liz, have you seen this? Control Room Museum Did either of you go to the control room with your DFs? Dale ran in the mountains and went to the orchard. Meanwhile, I stayed home with a whiney pup, changed the bed, did laundry, and watered garden beds and all the berries. I have one blueberry plant that isn't doing well. Leaves are turning brown. Shouldn't be a lack of water, so I'm not sure what's going on. It's one of our latest ones we got and it hasn't put out many berries so far (and probably won't now) and no this. I don't have any blossoms on my tomato plants and my cucumbers, beans, and squash are not doing well. Not a good gardening year here. I wonder if it's the streak of 90+ temps we had in May. We've been back in the 90s for "real feel" for the last few days, so it sounds like I'll be watering a lot more unless we get some rain.

yes! that sure is Micki!
My tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers will not set fruit until it gets cooler...if they live in shade.
Got toCostco to get another light weight cooling fabric polo for dh, some printer paper, his wine and was amazed to find no lines or short ones even though the lot was full and it was a long hot walk in the sun...104 so far heading to111 again later. yuck.
You know you live in AZwhen 106 sounds good...Tuesday. Lot of wind yesterday afternoon felt like a giant hair dryer and sucked the life out of the plants. I have been extra watering. At sunset last night I ran the lawn sprinklers five minutes to cool down the yard. the birds have been in the two tier fountain constantly. Micki is out five minutes in shade then sitting by the door!
Taco salad tonight...already made.

Linda, that video was too funny. I wish I was as thin as those two who didnāt want to work out.
Kathy, one of the nephews is talking about teaching English in Japan. I hope DN is enjoying. Too bad he was ātrumped.ā I spent a week in Japan and rode the bullet train to Mount Fuji and went to temples and gardens. It was amazing.
Becky, that is a shame about your watch reacting badly to the rain. ITB is a good value and you can build up your selections. They have message boards there too
Cute avatar, Karen. Teddy always wanted to be the center of attention, too. The watermelon here has been good this year. Enjoy. We have flowers on most of the tomato plants but we didnāt get as hot as you in May. Congrats to Dale on his excellent finish.
Liz, I hope you got your paella last night.
It was warm again today but not as humid. The birds have been enjoying the birdbath. We saw a dove and a starling collide midair on the way to the bath. They were fine. We found carrots, green beans, white onions, tomatoes (believe it or not), cucumbers, broccoli at the market. The guy with the tomatoes said he started them inDecember. He also said they were splitting because of all the rain so he didnāt have many. Ooh, but they are good. I really donāt do menus any more, but today I baked some salmon, made wild rice pilaf and and a tomato onion salad. Tomorrow I will probably make a frittata with mushrooms, spinach and leftover salmon. Yesterday we made Salade NiƧoise. Iggy found what he was looking for at Best Buy yesterday but said he needs to do more research.

Karen Your avatar is like Scooter too.I don't know if you can swim with the Vivofit or not but this is my 2nd day with the vivosmart and it is learning my habits as well as me learning it.I do like it a lot better even though it does have to be charged. The rain the other day was a downpour and got soaked as did my socks, shoes and underwear. We got 2" rain sometime between 11-12 last night. For some reason it took me an hour or so to even go to sleep so I must have been out b/c I slept through the thunder and rain.I guess Scooter couldn't wake me up so Kenneth had to let her come up on his recliner.
Linda Since it rained last night it isn't quite going to make it to 90.We haven't had any 100 degree days yet which is strange for us.Taco salad sounds good.
Chele I like ITB and I have read some on their community and it's okay but it's not the best.I do enjoy tracking calories rather than points on it though. We have a red bird that keeps hitting our big window in the master bath.I feel so sorry for it.I guess it sees itself in the reflection and keeps pecking the window.
