People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself βEnough is enough and Iβm getting in shape!β On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.
If the thread has not been started for a day, and you are ready to post, feel free to get us started.

Gail I think you forgot to post the quiz? ππ
Today is the last day feeding the kitties. Lily is finally warming up to me and yesterday actually put her face next to mine! I looked up swishing cat tails and saw that for the most part Maybean's swishing shows happiness except when he has to cover the kittens business as then the swish indicates irritation. I think Lily is trying to learn as when she's done she jumps out of the litter box and paws the floor like she's trying to cover it! She just has to learn to do that in the litter box not outside!

Good morning. We are in the middle of a 90+ string of summer days. Humidity is high also. Isolated thunder storms, but none yesterday. Weight is dropping slowing, about 1/10 if a pound a day. My goal is 1/2 a lb a week or two a month so I'm ok with the little drops.
It is very quiet here without Hubert, but I have seen film of him running around the property with the young lab and also playing inside the house and approaching a cat who just sat there with no fear of dogs and ignored Hubert. My cat ran with fear and that made it a game of chase. Lizzy (my cat) would not come into the house or even near the front door with Hubert in sight.
I plan on a lot of sewing today. Going to cut out two harem pants and work for an hour on the cushion. I tore out everything I had done as it looked a little twisted and I couldn't stand it.
Looking forward to a quiet and productive Sunday. DGD will be with Jeanne all day today and I will have her days the remainder of the week.

Good morning!
Sunny and hot again today.
Geri, it sounds like we're having the same weather as you are. They are predicting storms later on tonight and I hope they're right. We were waterlogged a week ago but with all the heat we've had over the past few days, all the flowers and crops need another good drink of water. I hope Hubert has finally found his forever home. He's such a little cutie!
Sandy, cat body language is fascinating, isn't it? Have you ever tried using a laser pointer with the kitties? It's so fun to watch them chase the little red dot! We keep one in a drawer in the family room and my cat loves it. We call it the "kitty exerciser".
Typical quiet Sunday here...church and then relaxing at home and doing a bit of laundry.

Good afternoon
Been out for gas at Costco and to church and working again on the money. We had some Canadian money which was in one of my books and other foreign money which is not so I have put that together and still working on those pennies and thin there might be a few that are worth a bit --not much though. I have started wrapping those pennies because I may as well get that money out of them. There are a lot of them--guessing about $8-10 so a lot of wrapping.
Weather says 60% chance of rain so I did not try to get to the pool and of course we have not had any.
I am thinking on Tuesday morning I will take this money to the coin place and Jeff and I will go on to lunch where I was to meet Ruth that day and had a sick dog so canceled. We will go past my bank so I can drop these pennies off and get rid of them. However I still have a lot of them to look at and then to wrap. I know I am missing out on some of the money Don had or my Mother had but I can not remember where I put it. I will have Jeff check under the bed for me since I can't get down there to look. I will be so glad to be rid of this job.
Geri How frustrating that you are stuck with a sewing project that you never wanted. I have the feeling that you hate to say NO to anyone.
A woman at church who plays bridge in the Friday beginner group at my clubhouse, leaned over to tell me that two people had told her she should learn bridge from me since I am the "bridge queen". I have not won at the clubhouse in ages because I don't have a regular partner so don't know how I could be the "queen" of anything! I guess that is a compliment. She wanted to know why I don't play on Wed. I told her I have other obligations that day but the truth is I hate that game. You change partners each round and so I never know what the partner means because they seem to not follow any kind of bridge rules and I don't need that frustration. So tie up my Wed. if I can so I have a good excuse to not play then.
Gail Your view is lovely. How close are you to your DD? I got some of your questions correct and knew essential tremor wasn't going to be the answer --wich I could cure mine. Although today I can actually write so it can be read but not the nice handwriting I once had. I was looking in my Mother's Bible and she had me write some family dates and my writing was so nice so glad I was able to do that for her.
Sandy congrats on the weight loss!
I have got to get back to accomplishing something. --read a book, watch a movie, work on pennies, do a load of laundry, learn the new cha cha, plan the class for tomorrow, close out my June budget, plan my July budget--I have nothing to do !!!

Just like that I am back because I just feel sad. ON Facebook where it has new people you might be friends with is a picture of one of Don's DGD with the baby she had right after Don died so his GGC. My understanding was that the baby was in Foster care with one of Don's daughters and I got that letter and Don did , too , from the system telling us of the baby being in Foster care and asking for us to have a relationship with him. That letter upset me greatly because none of Don's family cares at all for don or for me except to hand them money. That girl has been in jail more than once for drugs and I have worried about the baby and what problems it will have probably. Well I will say he is certainly a chubby one and should be about 7 months old. So don't know if she has custody of him or if his aunt (one of Don's DD) is still fostering him. The whole family is just a mess and it is good they are in PA and not here. But that just causes me to feel so sad since that is Don's GGS. I have always been sad that I had only one child and he has no children so I would have loved to have been a part of Don's family . OK going to go do some of those things and get my mind off this. It is not my problem and I am glad Don does not have to deal with it.

Hello all. Arrived yesterday just fine but exhausted. Going to DDs for dinner tonight.
Jane is there a reason you wrap coins? Banks have coin counters. After you leave they have to unwrap each one and put through the coin counter. Just take the coins in a container.
Iβm sorry the friend suggestion made you sad. Hugs to you.
KC the pic on Facebook of the twins is adorable.
Sharon.

Hi Everyone!
Gail, such a lovely view. Have you checked out your surroundings? Is there a theater nearby?
Today I saw the movie 'Yesterday'. It was so much fun. The whole theater was in hysterics at times. 'Jack' the main character is a floundering musician. He is involved in an accident and wakes up in a world where no one is familiar with the Beatles. The music is great and the movie moves along well. If you have a chance to see it, it will be a fun filled couple of hours. I'm just a busy bee with children out of school and their summer camps not starting until after the 4th. My DGD will be 2 on July 11th. The party will be at a farm for strawberry picking and a hay ride. Should be fun!
This weekend I spent a lot of time at the Club where I swim. The outdoor pool is heated and so lovely except for the sun! It was fine yesterday but today I had to limit my time out there. There are a few indoor pools, too.
Jane, is there more than one coin dealer so you can get another opinion on the coins?
Geri, I see many women wearing the haren pants, now. They are lovely and look so comfortable.
Sharon, safe travels. Enjoy your adventures!
Recently I typed a post, mentioning my DD cat and it disappeared! Effie was adopted about 4 yrs ago. She had been rescued from a location that had about 40 neglected felines. She needed extensive dental work and my DD went back for her because she was afraid maybe no one else would choose her. She has a beautiful coat of black, copper and white long hair. She continues to be skittish and to this day no one has gotten to the point of petting her. She will sit on the couch next to DD and DSinLaw but will run if they attempt to touch her. She will take a treat out of our hand. They have a Vet who comes to the house after they put a sedative in her food. Effie leads a good life, everyone gives her space and just let her be. When DGD was a baby Effie was very concerned if she would cry. We have hoped that she might warm up to Hazel since she is more her size. Time will tell!
I'm tired tonight from all of the sun and swim today. Hopefully I will fall asleep early and tomorrow will be a busy day.
Best wishes to all!
Marlo in MA
