Happy Day All!
BettyJ - that is strange your former neighbor would say that about the witness protection program. Sounds like she raised a really nice son.
Phyl - okay....what is a fat quarter? I know what I think of - my butt - but I doubt that's what you're talking about.
Lin - I'm with you thinking we'd freeze at 73 in the house. I like it about 76, but DH freezes so often we have it at 78....until I start cooking! Love your words to your class about instructions!
Mar - so happy you have a project you love, rather than a repair one. Enjoy decorating your bench!
PeggySue - how many books did you read yesterday? LOL! I would be excited to get so many as well. I can't hold books any more, so read on my tablet. Still get excited to get new ones!
Sue - Right now the blueberries are all going in the freezer. I have a gallon bag full, and have already given DDIL a bit over a half gallon. Have already made blueberry/pecan pancakes that DH hasn't stopped talking about! Another great dish is blueberry cobbler, but substitute 1/3 of the blueberries with fresh peaches. Yummy! So glad Peanut was found safe and sound. Those little ones seem to be able to get out of anything!
Emily - that's so exciting about DD and her new home. Glad it's not too much further for you to go. Don't know if you saw it, but I did try to give directions on how to post a picture on yesterday's roll call. Hope I got it right and was clear enough.
Dayle - don't give up on the diet. Four pounds is four pounds in the right direction. Plus, you're inspiring me to get with it. But, don't do it for me, but for you! I'm with you on the raspberries - my favorite. Blueberry/raspberry pancakes are amazing!
Connie - ooooo, I want some strawberry pie! Sure don't need it, though! Sorry to hear about your neighbor's fall. Glad she didn't break anything. I would also like your strawberry pie recipe if you're so inclined!
The restaurant where we ate yesterday was excellent! The seafood rivals one of our favorite small seafood restaurants in Panama City! We’ll definitely go back! It will also be a good middle place to meet DGD & family, as well as DS/DDIL. Is just under an hour away.
It was great to see DH’s cousin and her husband. He’s been fighting multiple myeloma for years, as well as diabetes, lung issues, etc. They are the nicest people.
Today is the proverbial laundry. Sigh…. Also need to clean out the hummingbird feeders and make fresh sugar water for them.
Make your day a good one! Cheers!

Good Morning All
Penny - Loved the directions about posting a picture. I did it up to the last Click and found it easy to do. Thanks a bunch.
Lin - "Hello Cravings" was great!
Sue - Glad that little rascal Peanut was rescued from his adventure.
Dayle - I'd be thrilled to say I'd lost 4# even if it took a month.
I only read one book yesterday. Chores tend to get in the way.
Everyone have a Sparkling Sunday.

Good morning Penny & ATF,
Sunny and currently 83; the high will be 85. Our heat wave is over!
Penny I did see the instructions for copying a picture but I wasn't able to do it. I use an IPad with a touch screen. Seems like I can't follow instructions. I'll try again later.
Today is visit TJ and hopefully be outside.
Have a great day!

Good morning everyone,
So exited about the bench. Really made a difference to the front porch and street view of the house. Looks very “homey”. Will post a picture when decorated. Still not sure what I want on it. Right now a beach towel is draped on one side for some color.
Buying the bench, putting it together and then taking back the bench to have screws tightened took most of the day up. Did not start garage sale sorting.
Today DD #1 is coming over and we are going deco shopping. Will work on garage stuff tomorrow. She and her dog will stay for dinner.
The following week we are going to Vegas to spend time with DD#2. Have not seen her since she started the new job last March. Convention season is now over and she should be able to slow down until September. Restaurant won’t be as crazy busy.
Today is is a high of 90. Glad we got the new air conditioner. It’s working good. Did not realize how bad the old one was doing until now. We keep it set at 78 most of the time. Some days we drop it to 76 if we are doing a lot of stuff in the house like cleaning.

I will post the recipe for the pie a bit later.
I can't post pictures of my own as I don't have them in a site that the Message board let me. But yes the avatar looks like Calli. I have a lot of pictures of her as I think she is beautiful too. I have always wanted a Calico but this was the first chance I had to get one. My DH liked male cats and we had some really nice ones. Got her at our local shelter, where the whole liter was taken in. I liked her cause she was a bit stuck up. kind of ignored us like I don't need you. She still is aloof and some people don't even know I have a cat. Those are the people that always say they can tell by the smell of litter box when they walk in a house. Nope a house does not need to smell like that!! She is very clean and the white spots are very white!! She is just now coming out to say hello when my friend comes over for a visit and has taken her long time to do that.
It is not humid today and what a difference that makes. The sky is really blue and not a cloud in the sky, a slight breeze. It is so clear and everything is so clean after all our rains. I am just enjoying the view out my window. This kind of a day if I am going to DDs the view from my car is something. The hills in the background going her way are like a post card. on humid days they are foggy looking. We are not in the mountains but in the hills and I am glad it is not just flat here. When we drive to Ohio that is when the fields of corn and hay etc go on and on. If we head to Pittsburgh area and then it is mountains. So changeable. My brother who lives in LA area says just like California with the changes of scenery. He never lived here where I do but always loved to visit in the fall. I really miss having him as he enjoys nature like I do. Most people just think I am goofy!! LOL
Off to make my bed and it has been long enough since I took my pill I can have something to eat. I am honestly thinking soup.
Mar your bench sounds really pretty. I have a small one on my back deck and only have a small pillow on it. Had a hard time picking it out as I kind of knew what I wanted and everything was bigger.
Phyl, umm fat quarter?? I would like to know also.

Morning All!
Got caught on an article that came up on my home page this morning “Books you should read in your lifetime” – you know I had to look. Some I’ve already read (thank goodness I’m not completely illiterate) – others I put on my list of “get back tos”. With Inspector Gamache in my current literary sites, I’ve given up switching around to different types of literature. Louise Penny reading is easy and relaxing. This article gave me some new directions to expand my universe, so to speak. Some of the books mentioned I read when I was in school. Others I recognized, but seemed to be always pushed back on the list. I’ve made a promise to myself to read one Gamache and then another from the list until I’m done with the ones that interest me. That should keep me out of trouble, or maybe get me into more trouble, depending on the nature of the book. Here’s a copy of the link in case you’re interested.
www.msn.com/en-us/lifestyle/shopping-books-movies-tv/44-books-everyone-should-read-in-their-lifetime/ss-AAD4JFU?ocid=spartandhp
Penny, I have no intention of giving up on the diet. I’m just frustrated. I’ve set short term goals – don’t want to think about losing the whole amount I have to lose, but would be happy if my body would just cooperate. I guess it’s a lot to ask that my 70 year old body respond like my 30 year old body used to. It kind of feels like my body is fighting my loss – maybe in a protective action. Stupid body – doesn’t it know I’m trying to help it along……. Anyway, I feel better eating this way, I sleep better and I don’t hurt as much, so I will continue for those reasons right now. Besides losing fast at this age, I would end up looking like the world’s oldest Shar Pei - all that loose skin flapping in the breeze…. That picture wouldn’t be pretty! Glad you found a new restaurant you liked and you had a good time yesterday.
Marilyn sounds like you are pleased with your bench. I get frustrated with assembly instructions too sometimes. Writing those things is an art form. They never used to include assembly tools in the box, but it sounds like this one was definitely necessary – a Philips needed in a tight space. Doesn’t sound like fun.
Connie, I don’t think you’re goofy at all – loving nature like you do. I’ve driven through the hills and mountains of Pennsylvania and I’ve also driven through the flat plains of Iowa, Illinois and Ohio on my way to visit my sister in Missouri. They are all beautiful - with all the different landscapes and terrains. I like and appreciate them all.
Well the laundry awaits and I have lots to do. I hope everyone enjoys their day, whatever the plan, just enjoy and savor.
Dayle

STRAWBERRY CREAM CHEESE PIE
1- 10 inch pie crust baked not brown.
FILLING
8 ounce cream cheese
½ cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoon Lemon Juice
MIX WELL.
Bake 350° 15-20 minutes. Test with knife like you would do with custard.
Layer 1 pint whole strawberries on top in a pattern .
GLAZE
1/2 Cup sugar
2 Tablespoons corn starch
3/4 cup water
2 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
Red food coloring
Stir constantly over high heat until mixture looks thick and clear.
Pour over the strawberries.
Keep in fridge.
You can double the recipe which I usually do as one pie not enough.
Enjoy

howdy callers,
Penny a fat quarter is a piece of fabric cut 18 by 22 inches.they work when you don't need a half yard or more. you can get a lot of 2/12 inch squares, or some 3-4 inch squares, a few 5 inch squares and some strips out of a fat quarter.
you need several colors, fat quarters work instead of buying 4 or more half or yards of fabric.
you can also buy fat quarters in bundles.depending on the bundle small, or large they can get pricey.
we will have lunch at dq. then bum. haven't to michael's for awhile. wonder if they got out as much fall, thanksgiving and Christmas stuff out as hobby lobby.probably not. that is ok. phyl

Hi friends. Bunch of little jobs this morning. Got them all done except ordering meds from the pharmacy. Had a little thunderstorm move through early this afternoon. Cooled things off a lot.
Wish I had a place to pick berries. Would love some blueberries.
Want to get the baby blanket finished this week. Kind of tired of working on it.
Have a happy day. bettyj

Connie's pie looks so good. but if you want to avoid cream cheese, here is one, almost same as mom's from 70 years ago. it is just berries with homemade strawberry pudding poured over them and chilled to set....served with whipped cream

Dayle, four pounds is miles better than any of us are doing right now!
the craving funny video is on last night's owls...a parody of Adelle's Hello.
Got toCostco to get another light weight cooling fabric polo for dh, some printer paper, his wine and was amazed to find no lines or short ones even though the lot was full and it was a long hit walk in the sun...104 so far heading to111 again later. yuck.
You know you live in AZwhen 106 sounds good...Tuesday. Lot of wind yesterday afternoon felt like a giant hair dryer and sucked the life out of the plants. I have been extra watering. At sunset last night I ran the lawn sprinklers five minutes to cool down the yard. the birds have been in the two tier fountain constantly. Micki is out five minutes in shade then sitting by the door!
Taco salad tonight...already made.

I'm having a quiet afternoon with the dogs. hb went up to the cabin with a friend who wanted to cut some firewood. When he called I asked if he could help with the corrugated steel for the roof, so he came by to pick up hb. It will be much too long an afternoon for hb, so the next day or two may be challenging.
