People over 60 have a different metabolism than those who are younger, and weight loss gets harder as one ages. This thread is for us.
Join us! Share your ideas, your successes, your frustrations. Offer support. Get advice from folks who are on a similar journey.
Our challenge is to stay on plan, exercise and keep trying to lose weight while improving our overall health -- and maintaining a positive attitude!
Think about where you were and how you felt when you made the initial decision to join The Senior WW Challenge. Close your eyes and remember when you said to yourself “Enough is enough and I’m getting in shape!” On a scale of 1 to 10, how serious are you? You really need to be an eight or higher! If not, you should probably reevaluate your thoughts and feelings about regaining great health in your life.

I sure hope July brings Debbie the good news she wants. But I'm not holding my breath as I know all the games he plays. But three weeks from today we'll know if it's finally over or goes until August 27th. One good thing though is she does have a fantastic man in her life now! I think she feels like Maija did after meeting Sam and that is there really is life out there and for the first time in 18 years she's living it!
Nothing going on today. Debbie got home last night so done with watching kitties for now. I'll miss it but I'm sure Bridgette and Bailey won't miss us coming home with kittie smells on us! They started getting very vocal in expressing their displeasure when we walked in the door!
We got the Olive Garden buy one take one deal yesterday and I really wasn't thinking when we ordered it. They do let you get it as a carry out but instead of having Fred get what he wanted and then me getting the free entree we both ordered so now have way too many carbs in the house with way too much sodium! But will really push water today and measure out what I'll have. I did gain 1/2 pound but had the chicken gnocchi soup, two bread sticks and shrimp scampi so I knew how the scales would look this morning but I did enjoy it!

good morning
Keeping busy today.... Have a load of laundry in and plan to stop at the car wash and then line dance class, the bank, the grocery, the library , home ---another load of laundry and pick up anything that needs to be put away, run the dishwasher and go pick up Jeff at the airport. Sharon I don't know why I wrap the coins except it gives me a way of counting them and so I just do it. Habit I guess. There were only $7 in pennies---seems like more as I looked at each one.
I did get the movie watched and I did close out my June budget which is the worse one for the last 6 months . July will be a bit better. It seems a lot comes due in June which is the month that puts me over my retirement income but I know its coming. I also learned a new cha cha at 10 last night. I had it perfect by 11 with a choice of 3 songs. I do not have the music it was written for so took some trying of different music to pick the best one. Only doing cha chas today which they like. One is to Garth Brooks and one is to Celine so very different music which I like to do with a class. Line dance is not just country music anymore but a real variety.
I see they have put an adjustable bed out for the trash (across the street and up 2 houses) which will sit there for the next 3 days unless someone comes along and takes it. Her son must have come down to finish clearing out the house so I am thinking it is sold. She passed away over a year ago. Whoever buys it will have a lot of decorating to do since all the walls are very dark and a lot of them have that grass cloth. Compared to others for sale here it was not a good choice but it does have a nice lanai with a built in hot tub and very modern kitchen.
Marlo This coin dealer is the biggest in the area with 4 stores and he is the closest. After I was there I looked in another book and it seems more accurate with what he was giving me so I really feel a bit better. The first book had the Sacagewea and Susan B Anthony and Eisenhower coins listed from $2 to $8 each and he told me they were only worth face value. Well the second book has them at $1.10 so I think he was an honest dealer and that was OK. I can hold on to them or spend them but just can't sell them now. If my DDIL's DGD was not in CA. it would be nice to give them to her. There are a few more coins here somewhere and I will find them eventually but not worth the trouble to search anymore for them.
Off to the car wash!

Good morning and Happy First Day of July!
It will be hot and humid again today. I thought we were supposed to get some rain last night and it sure looked like we would but it blew over. That wind came up fast and was blowing hard but not a drop! I'll need to get the patio plants watered later on today.
Sandy, I'm crossing my fingers and saying a prayer that all this will finally come to an end soon and your daughter will finally be free to pursue her life.
I don't have any plans today except spot cleaning some areas on my carpet (thanks to my cat!) and doing a bit of organizing. Jerry is out mowing the yard before it gets too hot. Thankfully we have a riding mower so he won't get too overheated. We have a small push mower for trimming but it's needing to be repaired. He had it all torn apart a few days ago and he couldn't figure out what was wrong so he put it all back together and later on today, he's going to talk to someone at Mower Zone to see if they repair push mowers. We've had the riding mower serviced there a few times and they do a good job. If they don't work on push mowers, I'm sure they know someone around town who does. We just bought it 2 yrs ago so it's not like it's getting old and worn out.

Good morning
Well it's a new month and it's been a week now that the kids and their mom left for Calif.to visit with her sister. I was planning on sticking to my plan however, things didn't go the way I wanted and so I gained .4.
I went to Walmart and then the grocery store and the only thing I did buy was ice cream and Hershey bars, the rest if all healthy and that way I don't have to go to any fast foods places.
It's going to be a hot humid week and that'll keep me confined to the house. I also need to get back to my exercise and tracking daily.
I know the plan works if I work it.
Sandy....still keeping Debbie in my prayers that this month will be it for her. I forget now when did she start the divorce proceedings, I know it's been a long time but can't remember when.

Good Morning!
Just got back from walking with my group a little while ago. It is already so hot out, so glad that it is over. No rain expected today, and we need it.
Sandy, It is glad to see Debbie and Maija finally having happiness in their lives. Praying that all goes well for the July pretrial and that the situation with Jeff can finally be over. The Olive Garden special did sound good and we did think of going there yesterday but changed out minds.
Jane, You have lots to do today. It will be so nice for you to have some time with your son.

Previous post was one I prepared this morning and forgot to send...
Just got back from playing Mexican train dominoes with friends. Many were going out to lunch but I decided to skip because I am going out tomorrow, Wednesday and Friday.

Sharon I asked at the bank and they do not have a coin counter so she said they only take coins that are wrapped. So good that I always do that anyway.
I forgot my phone and a bottle of water so after the car wash I came back to get them and still wasn't late for class. However I only had 2 today well mostly. One came in to tell me she was feeling a bit dizzy from med she took. Another came in that is getting married on Sat and said she was exhausted from packing so did one dance and sat. One was at the dentist, one was in S. C., don't know where one was, one is having a back problem and one is having a problem with her heart . So I taught the new cha cha to the two that were there and we just did 2 others and called it a day. I told them we would do cha chas again when I am back from my little break.
I worry about this class since we are all getting older and wonder how much longer the place will keep paying me.
I can't believe how much I spent at Publix in order to have sandwich stuff on hand. I think I am all set with breakfast and lunch for Jeff and snacks. We will eat out a lot since I have a couple of birthday meals from places and I did run across that Olive Garden gift card (actually it was from Jeff for Mother's Day last year) There are a couple of places I want to go because I have never been to them and one day we will go to Naples so Jeff can have that BBQ since we couldn't manage to get there before and he loves Naples and I don't have to worry about driving home in the dark. And then we have the dinner theater so looking doubtful that I will do any cooking. Jeff loves to cook but frankly it is a lot of trouble and I miss going out.

Hello friends. It’s been a very busy day. We got the camper out of storage and set it up. Stopped for dinner then on to the grocery store to stock up. Tomorrow we will sign up at the fitness center.
We had a relaxing day yesterday with DSIS and with our DD family.
More later if I have time. Sharon

It is a gorgeous day here in coastal CT. I went to Costco and picked up some stuff. Lo and behold, they sell gas at this one. First one near anyplace I have lived that does!
This morning I went to what my local library called BUZZ..an hour's get-together to discuss new books and movies. They are doing it twice a month during the summer, once a month during the rest of the year. I heard of some new authors to look into. Fun.
Got the final numbers from the closing, which will be tomorrow. My, that was fast. Thank goodness! Only one month paying for both locations.
DD's birthday is coming up. I want to take her for an R&R retreat at Kripalu in the Berkshires. Perhaps we will take DGD as well. She is having a tough summer.
I never tire of looking out my window at the water.
Have a good evening, friends.
Gail

Joanne she filed for divorce April 26, 2018. A very long time in a no fault state as even Jim's divorce only took six months and that involved figuring custody and visitation of his 11 year old daughter.

Just letting you know that Jeff got here safely. We stopped at Cheddar's since he had nothing since breakfast. I just got soup (which was very good). Kelcy is happy to see him.
