Day 2 – Pick Two Reasonable Diets
Beck wants you to pick two diets that you would be willing to follow, one is the one you’ll follow and the other is a back-up in case the first one doesn’t work out. These are her guidelines for a “doable diet:”
Diet should be healthy.
Choose a diet that includes food you like and can easily prepare.
Choose a diet that’s flexible.
Choose a diet that allows you to budget for indulgences.
Share your diet choices with us and why you made the choices.

Right now I'm doing calorie counting. I don't really have a backup plan. It use to be Weight Watchers but I wasn't happy with the new Freestyle program. Could not handle not having numbers associated with the free food

In my paper journal I have a page for each day of the year.
On each page I have:
* a positive saying I write at the bottom * I write in exchanges: V, Fr, CHO, Pro, Fat, Fr, Dairy then mark in how many I have each day as I eat them * I put at the top the original point goals from long ago * I track weeklies (35 per week) * I put in exercise on a line (if I exercise) * I put weight in the corner by the date * I put: B, L, D, S to indicate meals and snacks In addition I journal on MFP and
* take the nutritional information there and check points and put in the calories/nutrients/etc into the paper journal
I don't have "a" diet I am following but after all the years on various diets know that keeping an accurate journal helps and sees me losing weight IF I am honest and stay within parameters I know will see a weight loss - points, calories, whatever.
So...for me right now...it is a combination of diets that I am using to create my own while I divide the plate (1/4 protein, 1/4 carb and 1/2 veg with a fruit and milk and tsp oil per meal if I want them)

1) Calorie counting with MFP. Focusing on fruit/veggies and protein. Follow the old GHG and limit processed food and refined carbs as possible.
2) WW would be my back up if I can find an old plan. I also didn't like freestyle. Gave me too much freedom and I didn't like loosing the GHG.
I did make a response card for this and also one to remind me of everything I went through with Dad.
I've got 4 copies of all of my cards- They are in my vanity, Beck book, Bullet journal and school journal.
I like the idea of of splitting the plate.

1) Using PointsPlus on iTrackBites. Ultimate Food Value Diary is a good one too. 2) Calorie counting. Either on Lose It or MFP. 3) If I was ever desperate, Jenny Craig or Nutrisystem or something like that with prepackaged food might be an option. I’ve never done it before and I believe in learning to make your own healthy food but there is a point where you might need “training wheels” to get started.

1. Using PointsPlus. I track using a third party app that is no longer supported, alas, so the weight tracking is not functioning, only the points and food library. And I track my weight on iTrackBites. I couldn't be bothered to re enter years of foods in my current app's memory, so I just track my weight on the new app. 2. If I had to switch, I suppose I'd use MFP and track calories. bbbearsmom, if you liked previous WW programs better and they worked for you, just go onto Ebay and search for that program. You can always find people selling old program printed materials like books, trackers, etc.

I started back on PP this morning tracking on itrackbites.I had been doing smart points and always having to track calories to make sure I was eating enough.I did calorie command on ITB a few days but I just like the old points programs. An alternate for me would also be My Fitness Pal.

I'm officially following the WW Freestyle program. I track everything, even the "zero point" foods. My food choices are mostly based on the Mediterranean diet, more plant based and less meat than I used to eat. My backup program, if I decided to quit WW altogether, would be MFP.
