Day 3 – Eat Sitting Down
Today’s assignment is to learn to always eat sitting down, no standing and eating allowed. When we don’t sit down and eat we are less conscious of everything we put into our mouths (who keeps track of the samples at Costco), when we sit we can do a better job of monitoring what we eat instead of mindlessly munching/grazing as we walk about the office or our kitchen. Beck points out you’ll feel more satisfied if you have all the food in front of you and you see what you are eating.
Do you think eating sitting down will make a difference in your consumption of food? Do you usually sit down to eat, or do you still stand and eat sometimes?

I eat mostly sitting down except sometimes I eat my salad standing by the stove while I cook dinner. I think siting down to eat helps. Thankfully I never developed the habit of standing in my kitchen and munching on food from the cupboards or the refrigerator.

I have built up a bad habit of snacking standing in the kitchen more often than not. I try not to do that anymore and I measure out my snacks, that helps a lot. I tend to sit down for meals though.

I always eat sitting. Now I do eat with distractions: TV or reading, but I feel I am still paying close attention to my eating process.

Meals are at the table, snacking is not. Maybe that's why I forget that I eat outside of meals. lol

I eat meals at the table, snacks and weekend meals (like Pizza and sandwiches) are often at the couch.
I do grab bites when I'm cooking a meal. Never thought of that as eating standing up, but it is. I need to work on that
Also need to focus on slowing down. Since I eat lunch with my students I have a tendency to scarf it down fast. That spills over into dinner and other meals.
I'm leaving for a long weekend in WV. No WIFI there so I'll catch up when I get back.
I am going to take the book and try to keep up on the reading though.
Have a great fourth of July

Hi everyone!
I've been completely MIA on this. To be honest, it slipped my mind as I was out of the office most of last week. I'm going to try to get caught up, because I don't want to miss the previous steps. So, pay no mind when I start posting in old threads lol.
I have trouble making sure that I take the time to eat mindfully. I often eat standing up (grabbing the odd thing here and there), at my desk while surfing the internet (almost everyday) and on the couch watching TV. If it wasn't for family dinners, I'd rarely eat at a table!
This is one I definitely need to work on...
