Thanks for the start and positive thought, Liz. I am sorry the injection was painful and that you had a second agonizing unroofing. I hope you are listening to the doctor’s orders for the next 4 days. It is good to hear that Wally is adjusting pretty well to his new life. I hope Zoe is leaving her tail alone. Give the pups a hug for me. Are you and Gary going to Jersey this weekend? We are having kofta, grilled portobello mushrooms and zucchini, and tabbouleh. It’s a Lebanese American celebration.
Karen, no marination on the veggies - just a drizzle of EVOO, salt and pepper. The tabbouleh is for today. Watermelon for dessert. The figs are fabulous. Yum, yum, yum. I have a thing for figs. My grandmother had a fig tree in her backyard in the Bronx. How did Arya do last night? The roasted veggies and corn sound great. I would send you some of this rain if I could. That is a lot of watering for you to do. You’re right that athletic shoes can angle your foot down to the front. What are you going to wear instead? I always wanted a doggie companion for Teddy but Iggy was against it. Having pets requires a financial as well as emotional commitment.
Linda, those baby books sound great. I bought a couple of things from the baby registration list for the shower bit I will keep the books in mind for later presents. How did Micki do on his second bath? I am sure he was thrilled. I have bought the same pants, the same size in different colors and they fit differently. 🤨
Kathy, 1:30 in the morning is outrageous for fireworks. I would also blame the college kids. It sounds like something we would have done back in the day. I was also unhappy to hear that the National Parks had to use their funds for this ridiculous celebration of ego that will happen in DC. Using public funds for what is, in effect, campaigning is criminal.
Iggy is chopping parsley, mint and onion and I am drooling. It is overcast, hot and humid with the possibility of showers later this afternoon. We are staying home today and having a quiet, relaxing day.
Have a great 4th of July!

National Parks budget was already way way behind for maintenance of parks. I like old-fashioned 4th with kids decorating bikes, sparklers, picnics, small home town parades...a people's holiday.
only 105 today , so down to 95 by the time folks watch the big fireworks over town lake ...my avatar.
We don't ...go..hot and crowded and parking issues. We could park nearby in Mesa and take the light rail, but crowded too.
Did you see that major backup on roads our of NYC because a truck overturned when half the city is heading out for the holiday in a heat wave...nit what you want to sit in for hours with car turned off to be sure you have gas.
Wild fire shut down the major freeway to Flagstaff and other points north of Phoenix just above the city line by an expensive development that was evacuated yesterday. It is out now. The big one east of the Superstition Mountains keeps growing as they control parts. Apache lake, all the camp grounds and Tortilla Flats are closed. Think lovely desert with those iconic saguaro cacti.
Waiting for a guy to estimate cost of tree removal for the 25 foot almond tree...think it has Texas root rot. 20 years is about it for these trees here. Then we go to brother's in Mesa for 4th, their new pool and my birthday..,which always ends up in the 4th! Will be home before dark to help dog deal with noise. Not fans of night driving especially holidays with drunks in the road.

Liz, thanks for the start and the nice quote.
Just popping in to wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July! It's clouding up here, so I'm not sure if we're going to get a repeat of yesterday's storms or not. It's not quite as hot thanks to the clouds. I'm heading to DS's house in a bit, so hope the rain holds off.

Good Evening Chicks, Stopping in to say hello and wish all a Happy Independence Day! We had our fireworks last night but there are several communities who will do them this evening. Chele - dinner sounds delish; I love portobellos and most veggies when they are grilled. Hope you've had a relaxing day and enjoy your dinner. I made a pasta salad with fresh crab meat and have a very small turkey meatloaf in the oven. We had an unexpected chore today, something basically exploded in the fridge and Gary ended up helping me clean the whole thing. It was a hot and sunny one today so I kept inside trying to elevate and just walk the pups (hugs to them from you). Kathy - have a great evening and hope that the storms hold off for you. Some crazy weather going on across the US of A today! Linda - I agree with Chele that the children's books sound great. I hope you enjoy the visit to brother's place and celebrating. Crossing fingers that the quote on the tree removal won't be too bad. Yes, I was aware of the traffic nightmare in the city and was happy I was going north on the railroad. Sending warm wishes and hellos to Becky and Karen! Enjoy your evening ladies; ciao for now~

Linda, Happy Birthday Eve. I am glad you are not near the fire.
Liz, I am glad you are taking it easy and walking and elevating. The pasta salad sounds yummy. Oh, no, on the food explosion. That’s one way to get the fridge cleaned. I hope the fireworks don’t scare the doggies.
Kathy, enjoy the family time and tales from Japan.

Thanks for the start, Liz! Nice quote. Not sure we are "building greatly" on the federal level right now. Anyway, I hope everyone is having an enjoyable 4th. Congrats for walking and elevating. Has the doc limited your number of steps? Oh, what a mess in the fridge! Glad Gary helped clean it up. Hoping you have a less eventful day off tomorrow.
Linda, how was the family get together? I saw the Nonni's biscotti at Tuesday Morning but didn't see any of the other items you got. We don't go anywhere on holidays for the very reasons you noted. Neither of us is that fond of crowds as it is. So Flagstaff had multiple snow storms and now they are dealing with wildfires. I don't think I want to move there. Good luck on the tree removal With the lack of moisture, I'm surprised the roots can rot on nut trees.
How were your grilled veggies, Chele? I still couldn't get our charcoal brick (it's a Thaan, which was recommended with the grill we got), so my veggies were roasted and our burgers were nuked. I'll bet the tabbouleh was fabulous. We had some thunder a little after Midnight and Arya got upset and, once again, got out of bed and sat nervously on the throw rug near the door until things calmed down. That was probably about 10 minutes but when she gets up the humans also wake up. I have a pair of shoes that seem to work better on the Osteo machines, so I will start wearing them regularly. You are so right about financial commitments and pets. We knew that quite well with Phoebe. I agree that it wasn't right to take that much money from the national parks budget for what amounts to a campaign rally.
Kathy, enjoy your get together. We have clouds here as well and we're hearing rumbles of thunder and getting notifications of lightning strikes in the area. If we get a little rain, maybe I won't have to water in the morning.
What are you and Kenneth doing today, Becky? I spent some time looking at fitness trackers this afternoon. With Prime Days coming up, I might be able to catch a deal, so I need to figure out what will work best. The only thing I don't like about the Vivosmart 4 is that I can't change the band and if the band gets damaged, it essentially renders the unit useless. I do like the features though. I wish I could find out what new versions might be released this year so I could decide if I might want to wait for something better. I'm also looking at the Fitbit Inspire HR and the Fitbit Charge 3. A Garmin would be nice, however, since I already use Garmin Connect with the GPS watch I use for swimming, kayaking, and will use for hiking.
I did a lot of holiday cooking today and have to do the monthly cook for Arya's dinners tomorrow. I've been dealing with more master gardener drama today. Once again, someone was trying to micromanage a project someone else was in charge of and it wasn't well received. So we have now lost 2 officers and very active volunteers who put in a total of over 1000 volunteer hours last year. Grrrrr.... On a happier note, Dale worked a good bit today sanding my Adirondack chair and matching footstool so he can put on it because the original coats are flaking off. It's a nice chair made of cypress but the finishing job was pretty poor. It will be much better this time and I think we are going to start storing it indoors in the winter.

The tree specialist who came used to work for the big Desert Botanical Garden nearby...yes, tree has to go. $450 for 30 foot tree and a very small one, cut up to get past our AC and chipped and hauled away is pretty good here. not much shade to miss.
I read all the stuff about fitness trackers and am like...over my head and beyond where I am!
The wildfire was just above Phoenix by the highway to Flagstaff way north of there.
Nice time at brother's house. Can't remember when I had Happy birthday sung. my grand niece and I share a birthday so they sang to Linda and Scarlett! After we had bbq. The new pool is great and the yard finally landscaped looks lovely. Dangled by feet in the pool...nice breeze and we were comfortable outside for quite a while.
Home to Micki before dark or noisy.
Make up melted off outside! 73 and 8

Thanks for the start and positive quote Liz.What exploded in the fridge?I hope you continue to elevate and walk.
Karen I walked this morning. We went to Meyer's for lunch.Kenneth had the senior plate with sausage and beans. They have a one trip salad bar and I had that.It was surprisingly satisfying without any meat.I have had the Fitbit Charge 3 and I didn't really like it that well.I notice the FB Inspire doesn't have very good ratings on Amazon. It's supposed to take over from the Alta I believe.I really like the Vivosmart 4.The band I have will really go with any outfits I have and I don't really care about changing bands. The Garmins that you can change different kinds of bands(Vivofits)are hard to get the tracker in and out.I like the Garmin Connect app and I like how the vivosmart vibrates when you need to move and when you have had enough steps for the hour and how it tells you if your hr is too low or too high.I figured out when it tells me my HR is too high is when I am walking uphill. Also I really like the body battery feature.I walked 2.4 miles this morning and rode 3.7 miles on the bike and my body battery is still charged up to 95/100.
When I first heard about Trump's speech and the flyovers I kept thinking that's just spending money they don't need to.For some reason none of our local channels were working so we couldn't watch the 6:00 news so I turned it to Foxnews and I was impressed. It didn't sound like a campaign speech to me but of course the drive by media will find something wrong with anything he does.I by no means agree with everything he does but I was impressed.
Happy Birthday Linda.Great picture.I'm glad you enjoyed the BBQ.
