WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C99D4, 18 points, 1294 calories, 5 water, 7900 steps
treadmill this morning, then walk to and from Shuffleboard.
Yesterday turned out to be 18 points and 1294 calories. I had forgotten to track a Hebrew National hot dog on a 647 bun with sauerkraut.
DGK-19 leaves Hawaii on Thursday and leaves to be a coach at cheer camp on Sunday. So we just made a lunch date for Saturday. I'm delighted.

Good morning! Yesterday’s planning worked well, and I had plenty of food leftover at the end of the day. I’m happy I have a little time off this afternoon, though I do have classes tonight. I might hit the soccer scrimmage after work.
Lori, your mushroom recipe sounds so good! I got two portobello mushroom caps the week before our party but never used them. I need to check and see if they’re still good and use them up. Thanks for the reminder!
Louise, you’re doing great with your eating. Doesn’t it feel good? It’s always a relief when I get back on track, like a load off my mind.
Nancy, wonderful that you get to see DGD! Even with the forgotten hot dog your points and calories were right in line. i still haven’t weighed myself. I’m really not that curious, and I’m afraid I’ll be disappointed. Maybe I will at the end of summer. Who knows.....

Jan - I'm not sure what you mean by "right in line". I'm still thinking of 1200 as right in line. I need some help with that.

Monday's Stats: SP 22 AP 2 - We didn't really take the third walk. It was in and out and then she pulled me to go back in; I think we were there for about 4 minutes. Walking - 29 minutes
Nancy-I asked DM that just a while ago and she was considering it but I'm not very hopeful. I need to figure out a way to change that feeling. How nice you get to see DGD. Does she live in Hawaii? I can't recall. Wow, I just spelt Hawaii right without having to rely on the Spell Checker. <g>
Jan-Yes! I had this point last night where something about things going well was apparent. Last night I had the points to take the second Hershey snack. Instead I went for a 1/2 cup of nonfat milk. A nice complement to the bar I had.

One thing I need to work on is my step count. Since my ankle incident, I have not reached my 10,000 daily step average. I know it also has to do with the nice weather, working longer days (7:30-5:00) and I really enjoy my deck time after work. My goal is to slowly increase my step count each week until I get back to where I want to be. So last week, my daily average step count was 7,046. I’ll be happy with anything over that. I'm planning to do a little more during the day, I still want my deck time...lol
Nancy, So nice you'll have time with DGD on Saturday - Enjoy!! I'll see my DS and his GF briefly this weekend. DS is in a friend's wedding near Princeton on Saturday. We'll get to have dinner with them Sunday night before they head back to Texas on Monday morning. Jan, Planning is such so important - so glad it worked well for you! Louise, The milk was a much better choice - nice going!!!

Nancy, you weren’t even 100 calories over your 1200 calorie goal. You listened to your hunger and ate quality foods. To me, that’s success. There’s is nothing magical about 1200 calories. Yes, it’s a target, but there are other variables connected to our food intake. How much sleep did you get? How active were you? Did you eat quality, whole foods or processed stuff with added sugar, chemicals, and sodium? Those are a few questions you can’t ask yourself when evaluating your food for the day.
Louise, the milk was a much better choice. If you keep a written food journal, you should mark that down as a success for yesterday.
Lori, I really like your plan to start increasing your step count again. I’ve also been enjoying time on my deck. We can only enjoy it for a few short months.

Louise - They live in NJ but Hawaii is their home away from home. They love it it there and would like to end up there one day. I think it would be wonderful of DM would start to walk with you in a very limited way and who knows how it would develop.
Lori - How wonderful that you'll spend some time with DS. I just found out that the Columbus group (DS, DDIL and three boys) are planning a trip to NY over labor day. They'll see a Yankee game and do some city sight seeing. And they will definitely head down here for a day. I'm going there in August. Lots to look forward to.

Thanks all for the kudos. The advantages I have now is that I don't want to give back the gains I've made. Both the weight loss and the eating better which is making my stomach behave better.
I should have made the dinner I was going to do yesterday a meal and then deleted the one on my tracker. I would have been able to call up the meal today instead of having to put it together again. Hopefully most of the items made it to My Favorites. Already got it done. Also discovered that I don't know how to use the search box on my Favorites page.

Nancy, I edited my above post to say “your 1200 calorie goal”. That makes much more sense than my typo!
