WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

20 points 1824 calories 35 APs
Last night is a good example of why I should listen to my body. I wasn’t very hungry, but I checked my points and calories for the day and I was still under 1200 calories. I had some more yogurt and fruit to bump up my calories. This morning when I pulled up the app to post my stats, I realized my calories were about 300 higher than I thought. It must not have synced to my iPad when I looked last night. Not a big deal since I was so active yesterday, but it just reinforces the need to listen to my body.
I’m so sad. Last week a raccoon got into our chicken coop overnight and got two of our babies, the chicks we got in the spring. We got 10 total in April. DH opens the gate for them when he leaves at 5:30 in the morning. There must have still been a raccoon around, because we lost three more yesterday. These are the sweetest chickens, very tame and friendly, and they always stay together outside. We are now down to five of them. DH trapped two raccoons last week; he set the traps again last night but I don’t know if he got anything. It’s hard; they’re so much happier when they are able to “free range”, but there’s always the risk of predators. I’ll let them out later in the morning now, before I leave for work.
Nancy, interesting stats. Very similar to what my day typically looks like, with low points but calories on target.
Lori, that’s exciting that you get to see DS this weekend. Something for you to look forward to.

Hello all. Struggling. I'm at a high weight and yesterday was filmed for nearly two hours- solo, under lights, sitting down. The filming was at the end of the day and I'd been steaming in my office for hours - it was really hot and tropical humid. I couldn't have my office air conditioner on because it was too loud.
I think you all understand - I felt sticky, bedraggled, and uncomfortably large in my tight clothes. It was not fun.
That said, I feel pretty helpless about everything related to food, time for exercise, etc..........
Jan - I'm so sorry about your chickens :-( I have exactly the same problem. We lose so many chickens each year to predators. I love seeing my chickens in the yard and now I'm down to 5 from 20.
Nancy - Glad you get to visit with DGK on her way to coach at camp. That will be nice. On your way to C100!!!
Lori - Enjoy your deck time! And Jan is right that there are so few days to bask in the relaxation of deck time. Glad your ankle is healing and the step count slowly going back up.
Louise - good job on the snack choice and keeping your points low. You are getting some walk time in and that is great, even if not as much as you'd like.
I'm in a hotel this morning - no work out clothes, but I could do stretching/yoga.

I'm actually excited about tonight's dinner...I was making DH a crockpot of Texas Bean Bake topped with bacon (not healthy) and I am not planning on eating it - but I reserved two slices of center cut bacon and I'm now planning a portobello mushroom bacon cheeseburger on a light roll with 3 oz of homemade fries and side salad...Yum! I tracked my day in MFP and I'm within my 1200 cal!!
Nancy, I was thinking about this...to help break the all or nothing thinking, it may help you to be flexible with your calorie count as long as it's healthy choices. This way your being flexible without doing any harm..just a thought Jan, so true about listening to your hungry signals (there are times, just want a snack)...so sad about the baby chickens - they are just too darn cute...the same with all the baby fawns - way too many in the road. I hope your not the one that finds them... Kathy, One solid day of healthy eating will help you feel so much better (never helpless)....baby steps...

Jan - That's so sad about the chicks. I remember when you got them.
Kathy - Will we be able to see the video? Re feeling helpless... I know that feeling. Sometimes when things feel the bleakest, a turnaround is right around the corner. All we can do is one day at a time and give ourselves credit for anything we do right. The power of positive thinking.
Lori - The flexibility is what I'm trying. My eating is fairly healthy but not perfect. In that arena I don't even aim for perfection. BTW a new fun snack or even breakfast choice that someone suggested at our meeting. I got a bag of oysterettes (31 = 2 pts) and Peter Pan whipped pnb (1 T = 2 points). If the oysterettes are eaten one at a time with a smidge of the pnb it takes a long time to consume and well worth the 4 points.

Tuesday's stats: 23 SP AP 3 - 30 minutes walking Water 36 oz
Today I had two half desserts. Maybe not the best choice.
I'm confused; I thought I used three Weeklies today but I don't show a difference in the Weeklies remaining from yesterday. No rollovers since I used all 23 SP yesterday. The whole week it's shown 26 Weeklies although I was told I had 28. Weird.
Anyway I'm tired and need to get to bed.
I wanted to be in by 9:30 but it's already that now.
Jan-sorry to see about the chicks.

Louise - 2 half desserts is better than 2 whole desserts. If you ate them mindfully and really enjoyed them, so much the better!
