Kathy, somebody is selling the pom-pom doorknob covers on Etsy. Look pretty simple. There are also some cute Santa ones. I have already found several patterns to try. Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, they won't work on most of the doors at my house because they have the lever handles. I know you're happy to be done decorating. I think I am done because the cone tree is still sitting in the box in the garage so I'm guessing it won't go up this year. It was 85 but felt like 90 at your house yesterday? I know you're glad you got your shopping over with because it's only going to get worse. I can relate to the guy getting 20 gift cards. I had to buy 16 and broke them up into 3 trips so I wouldn't run the risk of inconveniencing people behind me in line (some places didn't have a customer service desk). I would think the houses closer to the theme parks would have pretty good rental potential so I would think people wouldn't be buying them as primary residences. And the people who buy properties to rent seem to have more money than most of us, so I can definitely see the having bidding wars.
Tamales once a year sounds like something special, Linda. Are they a gift? Were they home made? You have done very well on cleaning out those book shelves. Is Bob going to refill them now? LOL I wouldn't have thought your temperatures would get that cold where you are. I wouldn't have thought you got below about 50 with as hot as it gets in the summer. Grilled cheese and tomato soup used to be one of my favorites. I may need to look for some good cheese on my next shopping trip because those processed "cheese" slices we used when I was a kid don't cut it these days.
That's cold for Central Texas, Becky, even without the wind. Your fur children need to start realizing that neither of them is going anywhere so they need to start getting along. How was the cantata? Good that you are still within the weight range that you set for yourself. I think the BP med must have been the problem if the dizziness seems to be a thing of the past. I wonder if you would like vegan "cheese". There is one called Daiya that I have even seen at Walmart. It's usually not with the cheeses but in the produce section with the tofu, etc. You seem to get a lot of use out of your electric kettle. I'm glad you're enjoying tea.
Chele, is Iggy off for extra days during the holidays? How are your roads today? The a.m. news was talking about black ice around here and there were snow flurries in West Knoxville. I've already gotten most of my housework done so I just have a little more to do plus a load of laundry. Still finishing up the scoodie. For some reason, every time I got through a partial row yesterday, I started doing something else so I still have about 10 rows or so to finish before the piece will be done. The next thing on my list will be button cuff bracelets. I have found some really cute patterns. And my Christmas cards are in the mailbox for pick up, or at least the ones that don't require additional letters be added. Dale and I need to discuss what to put in the letter to his aunt, uncle, and cousins in Ohio as they don't even know we have moved. We don't think his sister has maintained contact with them but we aren't sure. I think I have that one and two other letters to construct so I guess I better add that to my list for today so they can get posted tomorrow.
Liz, I hope your trip to work was uneventful and that you got all your errands done yesterday, especially the wrapping of gifts for today and tomorrow.
Enjoy your Monday, Chicks.

Thanks for the start, Karen. I used to have the doorknob covers but they must be in a box of Christmas decorations that I don't get out any more. I need to ask the nieces if they would like some of my decorations.
It is single digit cold this morning and a lot of the schools have a 2 hour delay due to icy roads. Iggy does have a few days off but he has to go into the office the next couple of days, because of a big trip early January with a bunch of VPs.
Yesterday he made stuffed grape leaves with meat and stuffed zucchini without meat-a mixture of rice, tomatoes and sautéd pine nuts. Today I am making vegetarian chili. I like sharp cheddar in my melted cheese sandwiches and I do not put butter on mine. I stick them in the panini grill which is non stick.
Kathy, our housing market is a seller's market right now. The nieces are saying the houses are getting snatched up before they can even go see them and this is winter.
Becky, I hope you woke up warm today and the fur kids are behaving.
Liz, I think you are off all week? Get some rest!
Linda, that is colder than I expected you would ever get in Phoenix. Do you even have a warm coat? It will be a shock when you visit the northern relatives over Christmas, if they have a lot of snow and ice.
I've got some pots and pans to wash. Have a great Monday.

Karen,Thanks for the start.I like your cactus. You had to buy a lot of gift cards.I bought Kenneth 2 Whataburger gift cards and an Amazon gift for a friend of ours that likes to scrapbook and she usually uses it for that. However I had bought a set of 3 wallets from QVC(yes I think I have become my mother).I am using one and I think I will give her one in addition to the Amazon card and probably give the other one to another friend. They have the strap you can put around your wrist and are really nice.We had a low of 23 this morning without figuring in the wind chill factor.Kenneth took Scooter out for the 2nd time this morning before breakfast and she wanted to stay out for awhile. He did get her in for breakfast. We need groceries and I was thinking about going to Curves so I told him to take her out to do her business and see if she wanted to stay out. When I want her to stay outside no way.So I sent Kenneth to town to buy groceries and get some weather stripping for the front door.We couldn't go to the cantata last night b/c it was too cold to leave Scooter outside. It only got up to 30 yesterday with a blustery wind.My hands are ice cold even inside with fingerless gloves on typing.Tomorrow it's supposed to get up in the 50's so Scooter will definitely go outside sometime tomorrow and I will go to Curves.I was able to do the exercise bike for 30 min yesterday with Kenneth dog sitting.Speaking of tea I am thinking about fixing some more.I do get a lot of use out of my kettle at least before breakfast.I think it was low BP for sure b/c I haven't been dizzy for the 2nd day now.
Chele,The Hill Country in TX has been having single digits for 2 days now.Your weather sounds so cold.I woke up warm but now my hands are freezing.
I turned on the early morning news at 4:30 and the first thing they said was it was colder here than in NYC.They said that we didn't sign on for this weather but they did.LOL.I'm ready for this front to be over with.
Waving to all chicks and have a good day!

I just saw a commercial for something called Quell that is a pain relief device of some sort. May be snake oil, but I thought of Liz and Linda when I saw it. Liz, they specifically mentioned leg and back pain so I thought it might be something you might want to explore as a non-surgical option. I think the website was getquell.com.

Thanks for the website Karen.I may look into it as well.I am also wanting to find something for knee pain as well.Scooter actually let me ride the exercise bike while Kenneth went to town as long as she was on my recliner. The propane tank went out while he was gone and it got down to 59 in the LR which is why I rode the bike.It has gotten up to 41 here though and sunny so I'm thinking about going for a walk.I will have to get out of my sweats but that's fine.
BTW if anyone is interested you can now go into your profile and click on edit profile and click on settings then go down to where you see theme and default there is a pull down menu where you can select your own theme. Then if you find one you like you need to click on save. There are some okay ones but I find this one most appealing and the others seem to have a smaller font.
