hot, hotter, but not hottest here
Just curious. I know side peripheral vision decreases with aged, but has anyone noticed the vertical does too? Unless I focus downward I just do not notice stuff the size of my mini schnauzer or the small step stool I tripped on.
Depth perception is a little off with clogged sinus and ears too...Bump stuff to my sides that used to avoid. Do cataracts do that?
Meanwhile tree was treated for carpenter ants and Micki came back from groomer tired and hungry.
114 instead if 112 yesterday and today was supposed to be 113! very cloudy...quite possibly a dust storm around supper from Tucson storms or thise popping up in high country east of us. Staying in with dog, book and puzzle!

First, I heard from Liz. Zoe's surgery is over and went well. The anesthesia is wearing off and hopefully she will be home this evening. Liz is out of the Unna boot as of Tuesday and in compression stockings. She sends her regards to all of you. Hopefully she'll check in over the weekend. āLinda, I wouldn't think that cataracts would limit only the downward vision. The biggest thing I noticed with DMIL and her cataracts was seeing something but not being able to clearly distinguish important things. For example, she saw traffic lights but couldn't tell for sure if they were green or red. So she just assumed all of them were green (I think I would have assumed they were red as a safety thing). How she didn't get herself killed before the cataract surgeries is one of life's great mysteries. How was the lighting in the area where the stool was? I have noticed as I get older, I don't see things as well in areas that are not well lighted. One time around dusk in the master gardener's demonstration garden, I tripped over the black handle of the wagon that was laying on the ground on top of dark mulch. Fortunately, I was able to keep my balance, but the lighting conditions just weren't good enough for me to see the dark handle on the dark mulch. What color was the flooring or carpet the stool was sitting on? I think I would check in with the eye doctor just to be safe. Enjoy your "cooler" weather. The clouds definitely help. You're probably right about DN's beard in his future. I know a lot of men who grow beards in the winter (to keep their faces warm, I assume) and then shave them in the spring. I would think it would be hot in FL. Is this a recent thing? After he gets out of grad school, he may shave it to look good for job interviews. Are you still getting downpours? We are expecting a little rain this afternoon but got less than 1/4" over night. I was really hoping for more. Becky, according to the Noon news, if Barry becomes a hurricane, it may only be a very weak Category 1. Still looks like you'll be in the clear. We shouldn't get more than a couple of inches of rain and that will most likely be next Wednesday. I remember those TX summer fronts. They tend not to last long so you have to enjoy them for the brief period you get them. Congrats on the new phone. Electronics sure don't last very long. Are you going to see another ortho for your knee or just live with it unless it gets worse? Is the hemp helping? I've seen that but never bought any. Are the allergies still behaving, Chele? I just learned today that the women's basketball coach at Wright State, who is a UT grad and was on at least one national championship team, was one of the unfortunate people who lost her home and most of her possessions in the tornadoes. Some of the other Lady Vols are trying to raise money to help her cover the expenses that insurance won't. They had a picture of her house and it was pretty much a pile of rubble. Have you heard anything about how things are going with people getting back on their feet? It looks like you might get some of the late effects from Barry. They are showing the depression around Cincinnati and into Indiana on Wednesday. I swam this morning, which may or may not have been a good idea. It felt good to be in the water, but I don't think enough of the pollen washed out in the little bit of rain we got. I did a little over half a mile, so I was in for a while. I did a couple loads of laundry and will vacuum as soon as I post this. I did some master gardener things for Monday night's meetings, so I'm ready there. I have some cooking to do tomorrow but today I will finish off leftovers for dinner. I had a tomato sandwich for lunch using a tomato I got in my CSA order that weighed 15.7 ounces. It will make more than one sandwich. I may also use some of it for dinner. It was really good. We're in mid 80s for temps but low 90s for heat index. Hoping for showers this evening.

Karen, Iggy loves a tomato sandwich. I am sure it was very good. The coach probably lived in Beavercreek. We drove through the neighborhood there. It is where the optometrist office I was supposed to be tested at was gutted from the tornado. There are still places open to help the tornado victims with food, clothing a d temporary housing, and tonight is a benefit concert at Riverscape Park. FEMA and SBA are also here to assist. The meteorologists say we should see rain from Barry on Tuesday.
Linda, I second Karenās suggestion to see the optometrist or ophthalmologist to check the eyes out. I would not be venturing out in that heat either especially if you are all clogged up.
Becky, I love the speed of a new phone but not the transfer of data. Sorry the knee will continue to cause pain.
Liz, I hope Zoe and all of you are doing okay. Yay. The boot is gone.
Kathy, I liked the B&J Cherry Garcia ice milk as well.
Iggy had a half day off today (summer schedule), so we we out to lunch, picked up some iced tea at Starbuckās and went for a drive. It was a very pleasant afternoon. The roofing has start on the condos directly behind us. Yippeeš. Tomorrow is farmerās market and butcher and who knows what else.

Linda, I think the cataracts cause a haziness that can affect your overall vision. I have a really strong correction, so I'm used to my vision being wonky with glasses. It's much sharper with contacts. (gas perms) We only got up to 89 today since it was overcast. The humidity is something else though and it feels like a sauna out there. I had my AC maintenance done today and was glad when he turned the AC back on. Can't believe you had 114 with clouds! Karen, thanks for the update on Liz. DN grew the beard when he was a senior in high school. I think he'd be so much cuter without it, but what do I know! We'll see if he shaves it after grad school. A lot of guys I worked with have them, so it's not really an obstacle in engineering. I agree that it seems like it would be really hot. It's looked like rain all day, but nothing yet. They said showers might be moving in later tonight and aren't connected to Barry. Chele, I like that the light B&J's just has less fat and sugar, but nothing artificial. I've also tried the Chocolate Milk & Cookies and it was quite good. Glad you got out for a nice drive. Liz, glad to hear that the boot is off and hope Zoe is doing okay. Becky, the humidity was really awful today, but the temperature wasn't too bad. That's good that you can walk when it's only 75 out. We're barely getting under 80 at night, so the humidity just hangs around.

Thanks for the start Karen.
Linda I have no idea if that comes with age or with needing vision correcting.Be careful. We haven't even hit 100 yet which is unusual. We are expecting a couple of 99 degree days in the next week.
Karen Thanks for the update on Liz and Zoe.Barry will be a category 1 right before it hits.NOLA already looks so bad.The only thing we are expecting is lower humidity although it will still be hot.I have been watching TWC some this afternoon.Since the shots are supposed to last 6 months I doubt insurance would pay for another one.I received a bill online but messaged them we wanted to pay with a check so we are still waiting for that. The hemp is helping Kenneth more than me.I must have over done it yesterday b/c my knee and both my legs hurt worse today.I took a shorter walk and not as long on the recumbent bike.I need to learn to give my body some rest.
Chele I'm glad Iggy got part of the day off.I didn't have to reinstall a lot of apps. With it being a prepaid phone they can't transfer data but the mobile tech did ask me which ones I wanted and he started the process.
Kathy You are keeping all the rain we want.It was sunny and hot up to 94 but it's been worse since the humidity wasn't as bad.It was 79 when I left for my walk this morning and I was still dripping by time I got home.
I am still doing ITB but last Friday I switched to PP with a secondary metric of calories.I was down 1.4 this morning.I don't know if it was the change in plans or the exercise but I will happily take it.
