Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Yesterday I did not stick my nose out at all, it was so icky! Today, the same if not worse. I just saw that Thursday is supposed to be 92, and Friday 95, with high humidity. The state of Wi has moved to Florida.
Gareth, I can not sleep if I do not take my sleeping pill, what happens is I wake up during the night wide awake. It still happens, but just every so often. And I am not groggy the next day. Have you tried Melatonin? Google it. The Advil Pm would work also, but that is for getting sleep if you have pain. If you don't have pain, why take that? I say research the Melatonin, I have seen many people on the boards say that works. I looked up their menu, and since they have a grilled chicken breast, I know I will order that, to stay safe, plus I like it.
Pinky, wow, those poor lake home owners! There are so many stories around the country this year that have the same ending....water! We have been watching the corn crop right next to our side yard, as that farmer got such a late start, but the weather has been super good now for growing, and it is shooting up. It wasn't "knee high by the 4th of July" but it sure is playing catch now! So maybe there is some hope for the some farmers. How was your farmbook work?
Carol, lol, yeah that must have been a shock being told to put some weight on!!! After all these years of going back and forth on WW, I just don't bother telling anyone I am doing the plan. It just isn't their business. But it is funny, if I am chit chatting with someone and somehow it comes out, they sometimes say they are doing the program too, and start asking questions or whatever. I was somewhat like you, I lost 33#, then with starting work at the store, I slowly quit doing WW. I ended up gaining just 10# back. So now my new goal is to loose 20#. Lol...I only have 18 to go!! God, I wonder what happened to those girls??!!
Robin, I felt that way about Freestyle, last year, when I tried it but did not give it a really good try. This time I am thoroughly enjoying it. And I believe it does work. I had, years ago thought PP+ was the best, but to be honest, I did not loose the weight on that program. Smart points and Freestyle is what I lost the most (so far). I love that corn is free, things like that. I am dreading having to straighten out my points from last night. Another thing I like is the roll over. But my scale was up 2 pounds this morning, so even with roll overs, all that over eating is not good.
Anngie, lol, I am so glad to hear your story about the male nurse!!! That makes me feel better. How are you feeling now? Hope you do not have any pain. About depression, DH sister was that way, she had meds, she would take for awhile, and was on an even keel, then of course since she was doing so good, would go off the meds, thinking she didn't need them anymore. Then all heck would break loose. Not pretty. Her daughters really had their hands full with her.
We had so much fun with our old church friends last night. Too much wine drinking, too much eating all that little tiny finger foods, but being so tiny sure added up on the scale this morning!! Back to the Y and back to the journaling this morning.
Have a nice day everyone.

Just finished some laundry and now I'm ready to just sit for awhile. Nice walking early this morning. Now it's heating up. We're under an excessive heat watch tomorrow through Sat. Of course along with the heat is high humidity. Listened The Pact while walking and working around here this morning. After a slow start I'm finally getting into it.
Karen, I've tried melatonin. It didn't work for me. I love hearing what you're saying about Freestyle. I hear that a lot from people who thought they didn't like Freestyle until they gave it a good try. I've seen so much success with it so I know it works.

Hot, hot! It was 90 degrees when I went out at 10 a.m. I think this is how it'll be through August and into September.
DH's niece has some mental health problems and won't take her meds. DH's sister and ex-BIL are supporting her right now and trying to get her to get more help. It is very sad. She is divorced and because of her health, she doesn't see her children. It is really heartbreaking.
Good to hear about Freestyle working.

Karen, glad you had such a nice time with your friends last night. Anything salty, or wine, make me have an overnight gain, so I try not to weigh myself that next morning, once a week is really all it should be anyway. I do know that if you truly commit to a program, anything can work. I like eating corn also, I think that the people who have too many 0 point meals, because they have had things like chili made only of beans, then eat 23 points worth of junk, may not lose weight if they have very little to lose.
Same thing with fruit, and counting blended fruit in smoothies. If you are losing, great, if not, that might be why.
Gareth, I have used melatonin, doesn't really work for me either. The reason that Karen said not to take the Tylenol PM if you don't have pains, is why I say just to try the sleep aid. Do you drink caffeinated coffee? Sometimes I am tired in the morning because I never really get enough sleep, but once I have a cup of coffee I am fine.
Carol, I think that mental illness is so much more common than any of us think, especially very debilitating mental illness. My son has been speaking lately to a group that is a support group for parents of adult children with mental illness. Many cannot work because of it. He has become a registered agent with Social Security so he can work with them to get them disability because of the mental illness. Also, he makes sure that the parents have will where the money is left in trust for the adult child, because the worst thing to do for them is to give them any kind of money outright, even if it is $50,000 that can from a 401K.
We had a great dinner with both DS's, DDIL & future DDIL. They came out on the train, and they love this restaurant. We had a big laugh because of my DH's dental work. He needed a lot of work on his teeth, and the dentist made him a temporary thing that we don't really like, but really we have to get used to it. Of course we did not let him know what we were laughing about. They made it quickly into the city I know because I got an email from them at 10:49, and we left at 10, so must have been record time.
