WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

30 points 1863 calories 20+ APs — 2 senior classes not counted
It didn’t seem like I ate more than usual yesterday, but the points sure added up fast. Like much of the county, we’re getting ready for the heatwave. I really feel for two of my boys, who will be outside landscaping. Unfortunately, our one and only summer soccer tournament is this weekend. With a high of 95° I’m nervous for the players.
Nancy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you do something special today, and your kids and grandkids spoil you like crazy!
Kathy, you were correct, I was out running in the rain :-) Good for you for delegating, as well as walking during a phone call. We really do need to make ourselves a priority or we’ll be no good to anyone else.
Lori, love that your average steps increased again last week. You’ll be back up to 10k in no time. How was dinner?

I edited my stats above to account for 2 kedem tea biscuits that I had about 2 AM when I couldn't sleep.
Jan - Thanks. Tell me you won't be running or biking at 95 degrees........

Nancy, I will be running in the morning, before the sun gets too high and the temps get too hot. May possibly bike, as it’s doable in 90° with plenty of fluids. Won’t go far, though.

Nancy, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Enjoy your Special Day and please stay COOL!!!! Jan, Please be careful in this HEAT....I feel for anyone working outdoors - hope your boys stay safe and as cool as possible. I'm so glad DH is retired, I don't have to worry about him up on the bridge on days like this.. Kathy, it was a toss up between the Instant pot or the Air Fryer toaster over and I went with the air fryer. I use it everyday so it was a great purchase but I'm still eyeing the instant pot. I'll have to look into it more and see if I can justify...I love how you are making healthy choices and pre-planning!! Sounding more and more motivated each day!!
Last nights dinner went well, I ordered the Brick Oven Vegetable Focaccia (Eggplant, Grilled Zucchini, Portabella Mushrooms, Roasted Peppers, Fresh Mozzarella, Tomatoes, Arugula & Basil Mayonnaise). I tweaked it by having it on their homemade Whole Wheat Hazelnut Oatmeal Bread toasted and Balsamic Vinaigrette instead of the mayo and plain baked potato instead of fries (just felt like potato instead of salad). It was big slices of bread and a hugh baked potato. I took 1/2 sandwich and 3/4 potato home. Looking forward to leftovers. Always great time catching up with my 3 DSIL's.
Feels like today should be Friday....

It’s been an off day....internet went out at work at 10:30 am and was still out when I left at 4:30....a hose broke at home in my kitchen and flooded the basement (DH was dealing with that). I’ve just been struggling with food all day today....I found myself adding things to my lunch salad that I normally would pass up...l had to talk myself out of a cookie and ice cream from the dinning hall - I gave into a bag of animal crackers I had in my desk forever and then I wanted to stop for an ice cream cone on the way home, which thankfully I didn’t. When I got home I made a shake (thought of Nancy). I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk a heaping teaspoon of chocolate pudding mix and ice. Reminded me of the WW smoothies they use to have. Hopefully the rest of the night will be easier....
