Karen, have a good Osteo session. I think you win the craziest wild life at home story. Poor Arya! It would have scared anyone to see a deer crashing into the window. I am glad the window is okay and hope the little deer made it. Did you pick up a PB ticket? I have a little olâ hummus maker at home. No danger here. Have you got the Garmin up and running or kayaking or swimming...? How did you know it was a grandpa turkey? Iggy likes the Gordon Food Service hot dogs nut they come in a pack of 25, so we usually get the Nathanâs all beef when he wants them.
Kathy, that turntable is cool. I might have to get one for Iggy for Christmas. We have lots of prog rock from the 70s on vinyl and we would love to listen to it again. Iggy loves Jethro Tull and I love Yes and Genesis. I know the puff test doesnât work on me because of the thickness of my corneas. Unfortunately, the office closest to me doesnât have the other machine.
Linda, I am glad you and Micki got to walk in the park to stave off cabin fever. That is quite a project at the museum. I bet it will be interesting to see all the stuff. Howâs the stomach doing today?
Becky, ouch on the fire ants. I hope you managed to track them all down and eliminate them. Did they bite any of the fur babies? High sodium is why I want Iggy to stay away from hot dogs.
Liz, I hope you are doing okay.
It is another soupy day here. We had rain yesterday morning but that was it. The sun is out, so I cut some basil and put the recycling and trash buns away already. Today is my Gf's birthday but she is not feeling like going out. She had a pace maker put in last Friday. All went well with that but her back is bothering her. She has surgery for that in 6 weeks. We are going to see how she is feeling next week. I am making myself Niçoise salad for lunch and Caprese salad, roasted peppers and zucchini for dinner. I will bake some chicken thighs for the carnivore. I am headed down to the basement for my workout now. The head feels better today. TG.

Good Afternoon Chicks and thanks for the start Chele.
Chele - glad to hear that the head is feeling better today. We are rainy and soupy and just plain old disgusting weather-wise. Like many, they are predicting heat indices this weekend in excess of 110-120 for NYC. The hospital is on alert especially after the power outage of this past week. on the west side. Zoe is doing really well, thank you for asking! Gary took her yesterday for a check up and the vet was very pleased with her. No temperature, the wound was flushed again and clear and he put the antibiotic ointment in again and wrapped it. It was a weird blessing that I was able to take her in on Monday while I was home. It made a huge difference with the vet getting the sanguine and inflammation flushed out and the antibiotic in. She slept in bed with me all night last night and was not restless which is great. I am not so great and in chronic pain. I am holding it at bay with extra strength tylenol and the occasional naproxen sodium. Gary and I haven't had hot dogs in I don't know how long. I would occasionally buy the Hebrew National beef hot dogs to grill for him. I have changed my shoes and gone back to my "dad sneakers" and the wound seems to feel better. I think my other sneakers may have been rubbing against it and causing it to be inflamed. I will watch it the next few days and see if I am correct.
Karen - how do you like the Garmin? I still have my Alta HR in the box. I have an appointment for x-rays and the hip surgeon on August 5th and that seems so far off at this point. I will just have to do my best to try to control my activity and keep the pain at bay. Unlike last time, if he wants to operate sooner than later then I will give him the go-ahead. I don't want to continue on like this anymore. Wally has been protective of Zoe which is really cute and I think he has also sensed me not feeling well. How did things go with Master Gardener? How was Osteo? It's not terrible but it certainly has not been my year for joints and body parts!! SM called me the other day to inform me she had signed the papers for her apartment in an assisted living facility. She seems to be happy about it and it will certainly be better for her from an activity and safety standpoint.
Linda - lovely pictures you painted! I am envious of that wonderful talent. It must seem a bit incongruous to hear me complaining about 100+ degree weather here but having been in upstate NY, I am sure you know what an impact it will have on so many. Very happy to hear that the thyroid test went well!!
Becky - OMG on the fire ants!! Any problems with the bites? Have you rid the house of those nasty vermin? We had big rain with thunder and lightening last night and are due for some additional pop up showers this afternoon; otherwise we have 4 days of 95+ degree weather to lookk forward to with high humidity. How are the knees doing?
Kathy - congrats on the vinyl player! I still have about 30 albums of the same general genre as Chele with a few Motown albums as well. The one thing I really enjoy about keeping Sirius in the newer car is having classic rock to listen to instead of whatever it is that's on popular radio now. How have you been feeling lately? Are you enjoying not having to deal with work and the insanity anymore? (probably a silly question). How is the family doing? I didn't find anything too amazing for Prime Days either. I did purchase a hand-held cordless vacuum and a tens unit which I am hoping will help with my knees and hip a bit. You've been pretty soupy as well if I recall weather-wise.
Alright dear ladies, I am off to see what the forces of evil are up to now. Be safe and have a great afternoon! Ciao for now~

Liz, so happy to hear from you but not so happy to hear that you are in so much pain. Aug 5 would seem far away with the agony you are in. I am glad you wonât postpone surgery like last time. I hope the âdadâ sneakers work for your ankle wound. It is such a relief to know Zoe is doing so well and that Wally is looking after you both. It is good that SM likes her new apartment and is looking forward to living there. My cousinâs MIL loves her senior apartment and is a lot more active knowing someone is around in case of a mishap. Are you brining an extra shirt to change into after the walk from the subway to the hospital? I would have to because I would be drenched. Stay frosty, my friend. We are expecting upper 90s the next 3 days with a heat index of about 110°. Ugh! Iâd better go check the bird bath and make sure they have enough water in it.

Liz, glad Zoe is doing well. Wish you were doing better. That is ugly weather anywhere , but the NY humidity makes it worse. Hope there us a good breeze coming uo from the harbor. When I taught in upstate NY , no AC in schools then and big final exams in the gym in June. Even with big fans, we had kids faint right out of seats a couple years.
Not looking good in Ohio either.
Back to norm here...108 and dryish. So I got out early to use my pole saw on a tree getting too thickly fluffy. Yellow thevetia grows like mad. High winds in a monsoon storm could bring it down. Fortunately It has really soft wood. So Bit each day without getting too hot and I will have a good pile on the street for city pick up Monday. They do that every two months.
Feels good to do something physical...too much indoors lately. Micki got a walk while most of the route was in shade.
Tried TJ's black bean, quineau, and corn veggie burgers with hot pepper night..good. Sure did loosen up the digestive tract!
Becky, how are the bites today?

Thanks for the start, Chele. What's a hummus maker? Or is it who, not what? Soupy is becoming a way of life for you. Sorry your GF isn't feeling well on her birthday. I hate she is also facing back surgery. Nice veggie lunch and dinner. Good to hear that your head has improved. How was the workout? Yes, we do have our fair share of wildlife here but this one was definitely a close encounter. Osteo was so-so. I thought about getting a PB ticket but just didn't bother to stop anywhere. Did anybody win? Can you get a 25 pack of hot dogs at Gordon's and freeze 23 of them? The Garmin is up and running but I'm still learning the ins and outs. I thought it would have automatically started when I was on the Nu-Step but it didn't, so I had to input it manually. We have a lot of albums from 60s and 70s. I had a bunch and then Dale had some, too (some of the same ones). We have a couple of shelves of them in this massive storage cabinet. I think we counted once and it's over 200. Then there's the 8 track collection and the cassette collection, plus the CDs. We literally have a ton of music. I think you have a great Christmas gift idea for Iggy.
Liz, those are some serious "real feel" temps you will be experiencing. I can understand the need for an alert, but I hope the power outage was a one and done thing for now. I'm thrilled that Zoe seems to be doing so well and is able to rest comfortably. Wish you were. August 5th will be here before you know it. I hope you are able to get everything scheduled and get the surgery behind you. When do you go back to the vascular doc? So far so good on the new Garmin. It's about half the weight of the Alta HR, so it's taking a little getting used to. It's not like you've had a lot of time to open your new one. If Dad sneakers work best, go with them! It's all about comfort, at least until you are healed. Good to hear that SM is good with the assisted living apartment. Hope she will make some new friends there. Both my grandmothers were in senior highrises and were involved in all kinds of things while their health allowed them. Master Gardeners was rather sedate. The president and I had an online conversation about that and how pleased we were. Osteo was ok but not great. I think I'm still a bit sore from AF on Tuesday. Maybe when Dale retires in a couple of weeks I will changes from Tuesdays to Mondays there to give myself an extra day to recover and see if that helps.
Good that you got out early, Linda, and that your tree trimming wasn't too difficult with the soft wood. Plants can be very soothing and physically demanding at the same time. I hope to be able to go out tomorrow and get some seeds into the ground for the fall garden. We have had back to back to back thunderstorms for about the last hour, so I shouldn't have to spend time watering and the weeds should come out pretty easily and the soil should be easy to work. Yes, black beans, corn, and quinoa definitely has more than a little fiber.
Becky, I hope you have't seen any more fire ants since the first barrage. Are your bites healing? What are you putting on them?
When will your new turntable arrive, Kathy? One of the items that I ordered on Monday (wasn't part of Prime Day) arrived today, so things are being shipped. I thought about getting one of Instant Pot's new devices that has an air fryer but didn't even look.
We are getting some pretty heavy rain and thunderstorms at the moment. I'm glad this waited to hit until I got home. It would have been a bear to drive in. I stopped at Publix and the bakery outlet on the way home, plus picking up some planters that GF had drilled drainage holes in so I can now use them for succulents and cacti and won't have to worry about the plants getting waterlogged. I'm tired and a bit sore. The rain has dropped the temperatures a bunch but humidity is going up.

Chele Thanks for the start.I can't tell that the fur babies were bit by the fire ants but I must have gotten bit again last night b/c I have 4 welps on my right leg that are sore. Are you still having a heat wave?I hear the Great Plains will be hotter than Central TX this weekend.
Liz I'm glad Zoe did well and sorry you are in constant pain.I don't blame you for not wanting to put the surgery off any longer than you have to.I ordered a different CBD cream and it came today but it's too soon to tell if it will help my knee or not.I have stopped walking on our road because it hurts too much and I will just do 2 workouts a day on the recumbent bike.I do well to push a cart in the grocery store so I'm not pushing it.I don't think the fire ants are completely gone because I have welps on my right leg from getting bit a second night. We had to go to the vet clinic today to get Scooter heartgard and flea chewy pills and Kenneth asked if there was something we could put in the yard that wouldn't affect pets and they said they all had something that could possibly harm pets.
Linda The original bites are fine but the bites I got last night still hurt.Take it easy in that heat.

Chele, thanks for the start. A turntable would make a nice Christmas present. It's one of the few things I ever regret donating. It's funny how vinyl is back in again. I have a couple of collectible albums I bought during Record Store Day, plus a few others that came in boxed sets that I've never played. I also have a bunch of oldies from the 70s to early 90s in a box in one of the closets. Oh, and I can't forget my Monkees records from the 60s, lol! Those were the first albums I bought. Sorry your GF isn't feeling well. She sure has more than her share of problems. Glad the head feels better today. Liz, we don't have much in the way of good radio stations here anymore, so I really enjoy Sirius too. I can stream it on my Echo, so I use it in the house as well. So sorry that you're dealing with so much pain. Hope you can get an end to the pain with the surgery, but wish you didn't have to wait so long. That's great news on Zoe and so cute that Wally is being protective. Yes, we are soupy here which is our normal summer state. That doesn't mean I have to like it! A definite yes on not having to deal with the work insanity or the commute. I'm very fortunate to be able to retire now. Nothing wrong with "dad" sneakers, especially if they're comfortable!
Family has had a rough week here. DBIL went to the emergency room with chest pains and they confirmed today that he had a mild heart attack. They sent him home today with no restrictions and will treat it with medication, but I know DS is a nervous wreck. Very scary, but I'm glad it wasn't worse.
Linda, we didn't have AC in the schools when I was growing up until I went to high school. Most of the classrooms in college didn't have AC either. I don't know how we stood it! It was a common occurrence for people to pass out in marching band, especially during practice. At least the games were at night, so it wasn't quite as hot. The veggie burger sounds good. Karen, I got a couple of my Prime Day orders today and it says the turntable is arriving by 9pm. It's not even out for delivery yet, so we'll see. At least it's not storming right now. We got that over earlier this afternoon. Glad you didn't have to drive in the heavy rain. The turntable status just changed to out for delivery, so I guess it is coming! I like how Amazon puts up the maps with the delivery truck's location now when it gets closer. It's 9 stops away. Becky, that's awful on the fire ant bites. I've had them in the yard before, but not inside. Hope you don't get any more bites.

It isn't bad at all in morning in the shade right now.
I have taken up circling from kitchen to dining room to living room to entry, through family room. It is 45 steps. If i do it six times I have 270. Three times a day is something anyway. I remember when we bought two schnauzer pups, brother and sister, and they used to run around it!
Then step up on entryway , down, other foot, down thirty times.
Then get up and down off a regular chair without hands ten times. Then ten squats at the kitchen counter ...only to where you would sit. Butt has to stick out.
There are other PT exercises, but this is a stable base for hot weather. If I do not get moving, I will never lose weight and knees will go bad.
There is more from Pt but I can miix it up. You do not usually do every day the whole hour they would demand
