WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

C99D14, 30 points, 1421 calories, 5 water, no exercise The birthday was comical in a way. DH never realized it was my birthday. The phones were ringing all day and with each person he'd ask what's up with them. He even asked Alexa the weather and she said "on July 18th in Toms river...." Nothing. I was going to wait until 11:59 and say "you have one minute to wish me a happy birthday" <g> but I thought he'd be so upset that neither of us would get any sleep. So after dinner I put a candle in a blueberry muffin, lit it, and played Happy Birthday from utube on my ipod. He was speechless. Couldn't believe it. He was more apologetic than necessary. I was actually enjoying the whole drama. Reminded me of Sixteen Candles. Then I went to play Canasta. DS Columbus just called which ended the day nicely. DDIL and the boys had called earlier. The six year old asked me how old "are you turning". When I said 79 he shreaked "WHAT?? 79? ? OMG". The Hawaii group called earlier. Gracie texted. Caught up with some friends. And another year hits the dust.

27 points 1659 calories 19 APs Good morning! It’s been a strange week. I had one client gone all week, and another gone yesterday. I’ve just felt out of sorts for some reason. My phone has been on the fritz for several months, and it was splashed by the pool at the party on Saturday, basically putting the nail in the coffin for it. I ordered a refurbished one from a site called Swappa, and I highly recommend it. It was much easier to search for what I was looking for than Amazon, and the prices were better. I ordered it Monday night and had it yesterday. Lori, were you able to keep your eating in check yesterday? Days like that make me want to throw in the towel. I hope you did better than I would have. Kathy, I had an Instapot a few years ago, just before they became really popular. It was sitting on my cooktop and I bumped a burner, melting the bottom I loved it for cooking beans, roasts, and small whole chickens. Nancy, that’s too funny about your husband, and even better is your reaction!

Jan - What do you mean gone? Just out of town, I hope. Where I live "gone" means gone <g>. I never heard of Swappa. Did the phone come with a warranty? Refurbished by whom? Apple or Swappa? I couldn't find that sort of info on the website but maybe I didn't know where to look. Interesting idea.

Glad it's a new day....I was able to keep the urges in semi-control. I ate a little more than normal but I didn't cave in to the all the things I really wanted. I had the shake with a chickpea banana muffin when I got home (instead of stopping for an ice cream) then for dinner I had 4oz of baked potato, 1/2 leftover sandwich and a lot of roasted veggies (spinach, broccoli, tomato and onions) and for my snack, I had a reduced calorie hot cocoa and 7 oz of choc pudding yogurt with one chocolate cookie crumbled and a handful of pb granola on top + one 90 cal chocolate protein bar. Can you tell I needed chocolate....lol Today I'm still fighting the urge...not sure why... I have my usual breakfast and lunch planned - I'm telling myself if I get thru till dinner I'm going to have the 1/2 slice of leftover pepperoni pizza that's in fridge along with my healthy planned dinner...kinda bribing myself - hope it works...
Nancy, funny about DH - loved how you handled it!!! I'm sure he's still apologizing...love your GK's response, too cute!! You look Fabulous, next year will be a Big Birthday for you!! I can only hope/pray I am as healthy and active when I'm your age.
Jan, out of sorts - same here but with food...I like normal/routine much better...lol Thanks for the Swappa info, prices of new phones are crazy....My one SIL is a tech manager and has to have the most updated phone so I'm lucky to get her old phones, which for me are upgrades. My kids on the other hand spend way too much....
Louise, great stats yesterday - Great job with the zero foods!!

Nancy, hahaha, no just on vacation, not gone gone. Swappa has different sellers, just like Amazon. I’m not sure who refurbishes the electronics (they also have laptops, tablets, etc). My phone came with a 30 day guarantee, a one year warranty was available for I think $50. My kids have always had good like with refurbished phones so I thought I’d give it a try. I just won’t pay $700+ for a phone that will eventually wear out.
Lori, you dodged a food bullet yesterday for sure. You should be proud of yourself, and I love the pizza idea.
Still feeling very out of sorts. My Apple Watch lost all of July’s data and part of June’s, which is disappointing. I had a 235 day streak going, and was working on a July goal. First world problems, I know.
It’s very overcast today, which I’m sure is a good thing. It’s only up to 84° but the dew point is in the 70’s. Crazy sticky out there.

Have any of you ever had a problem with the margins of the pages being too wide so that I have to keep scrolling side to side?
I don't know how it happened and it's driving me crazy. I also have a white arrow on a transparent black rectangle. It's not transparent enough to read most text below it. So that means I have to scroll back and forth too.
Even this reply box is wider.

Lori - I'm the same - not in binge mode but looking for treats rather than food. I'm determined to track every morsel except the cookie I found in the clubhouse kitchen. I'll just isolate it since I can't figure the points or calories. Not looking forward to tomorrow's WI.
Louise - I have had the same issue on occasion. Not sure if this website or others. My solution has been to copy and paste the type to a text document and read it from there.
Jan - Right now it's 89 here - even higher temps expected Sat and Sun. Sunday we'll be in NYC for the show which is fortunately just 3 blocks from Port Authority. I still prefer this weather to winter but I've eliminated any walking outside though I did circle the mall once after selling my diamond. I've had good luck getting my iphones each time our Sprint contract is renewed. I have an Iphone SE for which I paid $49 and the one before that was free.

C40. D6. OP. Tracking. Exercising. Feels good!!! Four hours later... I made some good choices and bad choices today. I'm all out of APs and dipping into my weeklies. I ate a cookie, turkey wrap and chips for lunch. Could have been worse. I was eyeing up bags of candy in the grocery store - I have a weakness for cinnamon imps ;-0 - but made the 'upstream' choice of NOT buying them. Now I just need to find low point dinner choices... That should be doable.
It's 90 and crazy humid - but I got in 6 miles of walking between 6:30 and 8am!!!
Lori - hang in there. You are rocking maintenance - this is a bump in the road.
Nancy - good plan not to walk outside. We have a few people in the area that have had to go the hospital for dehydration. All time, record breaking dew points of 83 degree in our area. It's unprecedented and literally wet tropical dewpoints.
Jan - hope those soccor players are safe in this weather - it's brutal.
Off to a family reunion (DH's family) for the next 3 days and then a family reunion of sorts for my family next week. On nice, cool Lake Superior :-)

OK - Everything counted but well past my weeklies so it's a binge. Darn!! I was so close to D100. So far, including the cookie tracked at 8 points and 170 calories, I'm at 43 points and 1473 calories for the day and it's not even 7 PM. I guess it's somewhat of an NSV that I counted and tracked but the scale will be screaming tomorrow morning. Oh well, it's a journey, right? This must be what confession is like for Catholics. I feel better just for having confessed to Y'all. Don't worry about my email Jan. I think I found a close enough option on MFP.

OH wait. I still have 1 weekly. I was thinking the 43 went past my weeklies without realizing that 23 went toward today. Having said that, I'll be using the weekly unless I stick with only zeros tonight. If I use only one point, I won't count it as a binge. Hmmmm.

Kathy - Family reunions sound lovely. Hope you can enjoy while keeping the food under some degree of control. Since it will be cool, maybe you can get in some quality exercise. Check in with us if you can....
