Not much to update on the shingles - still draining blisters from the scalp and I think around the eye (or just drainage into the eye?) It gets old. I keep dabbing my forehead but the tissues get caught in the scabs so then I get WHITE tissue clumps stuck on my head that I can't feel so found myself walking around work like that!! No wonder colleagues were staring at me but acting too kind to point out what was on my face! LOL LOL Such a pathetic mess... My PCP said to expect blisters and outbreaks for 3 weeks. This weekend is marks end of Week #2. So so thankful the Anti-Virus seemed to work and it did not spread further or into my cornea! Hovered right around the eye, eye lid, and nose but no further down. It did spread backwards through my scalp, back of my head, around back of my ears...but no one sees those. I just feel like I'm walking around with a damp head. My Girls swear "no one can see the draining". I'm sitting here typing this with a folded tissue tucked into my glasses to catch it before goes into my eye. Ridiculous! The pains continue off and on at the oddest most unpredictable times. My right sinus canal from top of teeth towards my ear is always painful. Is it a tooth ache, ear ache, or puffy cheek bone?? Randomly comes and goes and THAT hurts. The Gabapentrin is supposed to stop the nerve end pain so if it's working I cannot imagine what the pain without it would feel like!

Carole - we hit 100 degrees here yesterday from the Heat Index, but it was more like 93 degrees on the thermometer but 'feels like' 100. I have NO idea how they are measuring heat index? I do know the humidity is horrendous and that too makes it very difficult to breathe outside. I was surprised we got it here so close to the Great Lakes - south of us down towards Pittsburgh got it worse. Our house is central AC and this year, surprisingly, DH agreed to keep it comfortable temp vs frigid cold as in the past! The Girls and I used to wear sweats in the house due to how cold he kept it grrrr...now he finally compromised. Our Master Bedroom is right over our garage. Heat heat heat so we keep the ceiling fan going...each of the Girls have a tower fan going as no matter how high you set the ac it can't compete with the 2nd story heat.
About the Gabapentrin: I was taking 100 mg 3x a day for over a year. THAT is what eventually, in my opinion, caused excessive swelling in my joints, weight gain, enlarged breasts, etc. As I gradually decreased it almost to point of stopping it I began to feel better! Lost 7 lbs eventually and all that puffiness, even in my face! Now I'm back at it because of the Shingles. My PCP has my dose tripled! It's 3 capsules of 100 mg twice a day! And no, that amount does not take away all the shingles pain but it helps. I'm going to try Aleve in addition as this is crazy to be this uncomfortable. When taking the med for my bulging discs, it did not take away all the back pain, just decreased it to a bearable level. I still had to stretch, be mindful not to sit for long periods or I would pay for it! Hey, it's Pain Management not Pain Eliminate lol

Sue - you guys are having a Wonderful Vacation!! So glad you and Jason and stopping to see the sights along the way. So very interesting and bonus that you met up with our Barb!! Loved the FB pics of you two! That is so neat Shea, Hannah and the boys got to head into Chicago. And YAY for the Aquarium! Fun! Did they ever do that Sunset Dunes ride while in Michigan? I thought that sounded kind of neat! What's on the Agenda today? Oh, wait, you were going to head to Somerset for the 911 Plane crash site, right? Gabrielle - Thank you for sharing about your Fasting technique. I still want to look into it to see the benefits for my health too! So interesting to hear how others manage it. You are such an inspiration for taking care of one self! I bet you are excited for both DS's on their next leg of adventure. Yes, let us know when DS19 finds an apartment in Oregon! Good luck to Caitlin on her Bar Exam! Did Ty get that job offer he was hoping? All so good! I did get most of my work done yesterday - brought half the K booklets home to enter in the Data Management system but it's so much easier then our previous system. I am trying to be optimistic about this change too Yesterday I finally finished gathering over 15 students Special Ed records (IEPs, RRs) and spoke to all the Parents regarding the Plan moving forward. Spoke to behavioral health support staff too for those little ones that have that service. I insisted on a Meeting with the one Dean of Students (I always thought of her as Queen B) who has no Administration certificate or experience, to share all this info. She showed very little interest. She kept checking her phone for messages, seemed very distracted...whatever. She said the Prince told HER to gather all the info. but I already did it! Not sure if this put her off or not, but that is part of my Job Description. I organized most of it too. Not a 'thank you' or anything...I asked if she wanted to meet again as she seemed busy today...that's when she smirked and said she was in meetings ALL day next week starting Monday afternoon with the Prince to discuss Special Ed, Supervising Title I, and taking over Federal Programs....WTH? Each of those were MY JOB before DL threw over the previous CEO. And Queen B knew that...and seemed quite proud of herself she was going to be me now. I told her it was NOT easy. She said, "I already looked it over Christine and it IS very easy!" HA HA HA I just walked away. I refuse, refuse to help her - no way!

Lisa - glad you are beating the heat out your way...how is DH's ankle now? I chuckled with Gabrielle's warning NOT to cut your own bangs! lol Sorry for the Bride to Be having now to work extra but hoping too she is not salaried and this could be an opportunity for more $$ temporarily. I would encourage her to just breathe!! Are your hours decreasing at this job now? Hope you have a lovely weekend!!
Shelly - you work too much. Glad you bought the glucose monitor even for your own peace of mind. What's the latest for DS and the truck? How awful for him! Is this the one that lives closest to you?
Okay everyone, I'm meeting Cheryl for breakfast on the Beach at 8:00 but if the clouds don't move out I might suggest a breakfast diner instead. No fun to sit on the beach if it's wet and windy and dark clouds. Poor Cheryl is so eager for Adult conversation! She loves her two grandchildren but she is SO drained! And no central ac at her house - just one or two bedrooms have a unit - so she is exhausted. The kids went to their other grandma's house for weekend - that grandma is young and works full time so they thought it best the kids live with Cheryl during the week...oops, just heard more thunder. Don't think the storms have passed yet!

Mornin' Christine - thanks for starting us off... Stay Strong... OH How I will TRY! LATE night last night, by the time Zoë got here and we let her swim a bit - then she had to have supper... thankfully we had eaten earlier - but still almost 10:00 PM by the time they settled in!! Then up at promptly 6:00 AM! UGH Going to be a long day here I'm afraid!!
Tracy has to work at 2, so will be leaving around 1. Tim & Jaclyn work until 3/3:30 - No idea what Matt & Patti want to do about getting Zoë home... so it could be a long afternoon! LOL
I need to get some normal stuff done here - while hopefully the girls can play nicely together... I will probably take them in the pool at some point - but only if Eden agrees to keep her floaty things on! She has gotten used to not using them - when she is in the pool 1on1 with an adult... but IF I am in there with both girls they will both wear the floats!
Anyway - I Am just hoping for a relatively calm day here today!
Already 79 humidity (only) 83... actual breeze out there right now!
I have sent an all family email letting them know the pool is open - or will be... all day today - tonight - tomorrow... my sister left burgers and stuff here so we have food if anyone comes up! Oh the sad/bad news is... The.Pool.Is.GREEN! UGH!!! Not sure what happened... it was perfect Tuesday night - not used until Friday - and WHAM... opened it and GREEN! I am "sick" over it... thought we had been doing so well - just goes to show Ken & I cannot be trusted to take care if it on our own! LOL Tracy was working a lot this week and not here to keep us in line!
OK going to refill my coffee... and try to catch up.

Gabrielle: Probably already out on your long run this morning... yes staying hydrated is the most important thing these days! Be careful out there ♥
Yes it was fun to come home to Eden and Mary in the pool - she (Mary) actually did all the work with putting out dinner - except the grilling - she did ask Ken to do that! She even cleaned up most of it! Not sure who will show up when today and tomorrow - but I have put it out there...
Tracy found the news article from 1908 that tells of the fishing boat accident off the coast or Gloucester, MA, where Ken's Great-Grandfather died at sea. She is pretty excited!
Jaclyn went the other route - with her (newfound) brother... they were trying to research the Latino side of their family!! I think they all came home pretty happy with their finds!
Oh yes... we have white "Christmas" lights that we hang around the pool deck - for evenings, although no one is usually out there after dark! LOL
Hope your Friday went well, and you have some time for yourself (other than the long run) this weekend!
Lisa: Oh my... yes, will be a tough few days for you all {{{hugs}}} Hope you can get Greg to go suit shopping... at least the stores/mall will be cooler than home!
Sue: Saw the pics on FB -meeting Barb... so cool! Glad you were able to find an alternative to being outside!
Yeah - Ken's chest X-Ray didn't show anything - but that's to be expected... his clots have only ever showed in a CTScan... he does seem to be coughing less.
So glad Colton arrived home and went with Amanda without incident... and that Hannah's gang could extend the vacation with the free side trip!

Oh Christine... I so hope this week ends your bout with the shingles! Week 3 - STAY STRONG!! Yes thank goodness you got the anti-virus med when you did!
Thank you - I don't "get" the heat index/feels like either... HOW do they "know"?? Here it is 9 AM and already up to 85, Tracy is planning on hitting the pool before she has to head to work. Oh gosh - no... I'd have to "draw the line" with A/C in the house... I freeze all day at work - I need to be comfortable in my own house!! We do have a ceiling fan in almost every room - and a window fan in our upstairs bedroom... I wake up cold - then hot - the usual BS with my sleeping - isn't helped with the heat!
I have been taking Advil on days when I "think about" going back to the Gabapentin... I was taking 300mg capsules up to EIGHT a DAY! Dr tells me the MAX is 2400 mg and by gosh I was there!!
Sorry you had to bring work home... but maybe it is easier than dealing with it during the hectic normal days you have?
Umm, oh WOW... That Queen B thinks it will be so easy to be YOU! LOL Can't wait for that one to come back and bite the ass of DL! Document - Document - Document... Every.Single.Thing.! Good for you - refusing to do the work for her... as I truly believe that's what they want - not you helping her... she clearly doesn't want "help"...
Oh I hope your breakfast on the beach worked out... I am sure Cheryl will be so glad to have some time with you today!! FOr someone who is used to living alone - taking on the 2 grandkids is HUGE... Are they "good" kids?? I mean do they occupy themselves pretty good??
Oops, hope the thunder passed for ya'!
OK Time to get moving - not going to want to do the dishes - but they must be done! Wish I had thought of this HEAT when I didn't feel like doing them Thursday night! LOL
Everyone stay safe and cool ♥hugs♥

Evening all....made it to Somerset and into the hotel right before a storm came through and the skies opened up and poured...didn’t last long but man did it put down some rain!
Had a great time at the Hale Farm...the people in all the house/shops were really knowledgeable of the period in history and the things in the house/shop...we watched the glass blower and he made a beautiful ornament...when we got back to the gate house, I promptly went to the gift shop and bought on just like it! I love it and it will be the perfect addition to our tree this Christmas.
Sarah sent Jason a picture of the wheelbarrow with all the stuff she and the boys had picked....about 12 cukes and 12-14 squash and that was AFTER she had already shared some with the neighbors. CRAZY!!
Hannah got home to find out her thermostat quit an their house was over 90 degrees...they rebooted the thermostat that took a little time and now that it’s working it will be 2+ hours until it cools to 74 degrees but at least it’s working now. They will call the repair people Monday for sure!
Christine....glad the shingles blisters are slowly healing and the eruptions should soon be coming to an end...it’s been a long couple weeks for you for sure! Had to laugh at Queen B....she will soon figure out it’s “not easy being you”! NOPE...no help for her the ungrateful brat! Can’t believe she offered not even a thanks for all the work you did for her! Just SMH at how that place is run these days...I hope it bites DL, Queen B and the Prince in the a$$ big time! Hold your head high and as Carole said....document, document, document!
Carole...sounds like a full day with the girls...I’ll sure many will enjoy the pool over the next couple days. We saw the temps and heat indexes had home for us are upper 90’s with “feels like” temps of 106-112 the next couple days! Sarah said it’s miserable...
Will head to the Flight 93 Memorial in the morning...only about 20+ minutes from here....will spend a couple hours there I”m sure then a 2 hour 45 minute ride home....should be home between 3-4 pm if we get out of here by 9-9:30am.....will sleep until we wake up!
Still can’t believe that I finally got a chance to meet Barb yesterday! She was so much fun! We just kept chatting and chatting and chatting!
Waves Shelly, Lisa, Gabrielle, Jo, Jenny and any one else I may have missed. We are watching the Apollo 11 movie on CNN for the 50th Anniversary of the first moon walk...it’s pretty cool all the old footage that we never saw as civilians....I remember watching it when I was a kid....hard to believe it was 50 years ago already!
Hope to pop in a bit tomorrow....sweet dreams!!
