WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Ugh, way too much snacking last night. I thought of you, Lori and Nancy, and didn’t let it spiral out of control. Thank you for the inspiration!
Soccer went well and we won both games. We’ve made the semi-finals today, but have a game to play before the semi-final game. The second game yesterday was interesting, to say the least. We played a very aggressive team from the Columbus area. We had one of the refs for scrimmages last week, and for whatever reason he doesn’t like our team. When one of our players would get tripped or pushed, if he pushed back we’d get th penalty. We actually got two red cards, one of them with no prior yellows, for low fiving a teammate. As our coach said, bizarre. The team was agressive but not very good. Even with all of their penalty kicks they weren’t able to score. It was a satisfying win of 2-0.
Nancy, have so much fun today! I would say definitely carry water with you.

Saturday's Stats: SP 25 AP 2 - 15 minutes with Marisol and 11 alone. WP - 26 remaining
So much for getting right back to edit. This was started Sat. evening. In any case WI Sat. AM was 147 down 1.6 from last week, 6 over the last 3 weeks. I love it! Dinner was 16 SP and used 2 WP for my start of the new week. We had grilled hamburgers on a bun with lettuce and tomato. Dessert was chocolate ice cream (1/3 cup) with 5 gm of whipped topping. 11 AM outside temp 93. We've got 83 inside. I missed the tipping point when I was in the shower.
After my Workshop I stopped by the supermarket to do something at the bank and then picked up my To Go order. I'm still forgetting things like fresh fruits on these orders. Means I have to go back within a few days with the second shopping list. If I'm going to continue to use the service I need to start my shopping list immediately after an order. It's the things that flit inside my head at any moment that I don't get on the list easily. Nancy-nice job that the after dinner eating was a salad.
Jan-good job not going over the binge line. Congrats on the soccer wins. Sorry you had to deal with poor officiating.
Lori-good for you to on the control of what you are eating. When you do an MFP day do you track calories instead of SPs? Do you make other changes?

Louise, WTG on another loss! It feels so good, doesn’t it? Does your condo not have AC?
Lori, good thinking on the MFP Monday. Yes, it’s brutally hot here too. My AC can’t keep up.
We brought home a WIN! They played two games back to back starting at 10:15, and the championship game was scheduled for 1:00 in the Kent State stadium on the turf. Because of the heat they decided to do a penalty kick shootout. It was over in about five minutes, thanks to a block by our goalie. I couldn’t believe how hot the turf was; I could feel it through my Birkenstocks. Ironically, it was against the same dirty team we played yesterday. These boys have potential; they didn’t allow a single goal.
I thought about another untracked day, but decided against it. I had a 5 point protein drink at the game, and an 8 point protein bar on the way to the grocery store after the game. Those two things ate up a lot of points so I’m trying to adjust the remainder of the day.

OMG the show was fantastic!! Again screaming standing applause at the end. Sad at points but very uplifting. It's a musical. I didn't expect that. If anyone has the opportunity it's called "Come from Away". Just loved it. On the way home on the bus one of my friends and I were talking politics. When we arrived at our destination a woman in front of us said she thoroughly enjoyed listening to our conversation and has the same one with her friends on a daily basis <g>. For breakfast I had 5 petite toasts with a wedge of LC cheese. Lunch was a bacon cheeseburger with some fries but not many. That was it. At home a had shrimp cocktail (7 shrimps) with 15 oyserettes and a nectarine. Still looking for something so I had a baked 1/2 acorn squash with a tsp oil and 2 Kedem tea biscuits. Later I plan on an enlightened bar. Haven't worked out the points or calories yet but it should be reasonable. BTW the weather wasn't an issue in the city. It was hot but a little breeze and New Yorkers are awesome. The streets were as busy as ever.
Jan - That's wonderful soccer news. Hearty congrats to Alex. He's the soccer player, right?
Lori - Yes the occasional MFP day seems to get you right back on track.
Louise - I'm not surprised by that loss when I see mentions of 1/3 cup ice cream and 5 gms whipped topping. Weighing, measuring, tracking makes all the difference. What an exciting turnaround for you. Once you pick up your "to go" order, can you hop over to the produce section and hand pick your own fruits and veggies? Seems a reasonable compromise.

Jan-the loss does feel good. Not only is there no central AC but, when I first moved in, there was a rule that said a window air conditioner could not extend beyond the plane of the window (in other words it couldn't "stick out"). They are allowing it now, but I had already gotten rid of the window one. I have a stand alone unit that sits on the floor with a tube that is connected to a panel held in by the window. I have in the past used that in the bathroom (pretty much the center of the house) but I had to climb over the electrical cord. Don't think DM could handle that. I can't put it in the living room because those windows roll out. I could put it in one of the bedrooms but then DM is unhappy about anyone being able to open the window and get in. I need to figure out a way to lock it from the inside. Some of my neighbors have installed heat pumps. It's something I'd consider except that I have a large stack-able wall unit with 15 pieces. Right now that is taking up both end walls of the living room. One of those is where the heat pump would be installed. Story about the large wall unit(s). When I was stationed in Spain I ended up with a four bedroom, two bath apartment. Twelve of those units were on one wall of the living room. I got the three piece corner unit after I was back in the U.S. I'm using the corner units and the three pieces that are half the width of all of the others to "make a wall" that "separates" the front door from the rest of the living room. I'm not really thrilled with front doors that open into the living room. Anyway you can see like what I have here: Karel Mintjens Oak Furniture. I don't have the china closet section.
Nancy-since there's usually cold stuff in my order I might go and pick the veggies/fruits up before I have them bring out the order. I'd really rather have it all done by them though. In this case I'll go after mass tomorrow with my list.
