Good morning ladies!
I keep checking to be sure that I didn't start up the 2nd thread for the day, but I think we are okay here. Wow, that heat that they were predicting on the news really surfaced for a lot of you here...hope that you have a break soon! It is hot here, but not so humid so MUCH more manageable. Hang in there girls! So, "Size it Up Sunday" is our day to think it all through---what are we doing for ourselves to feel better? Really take a look and decide which things are making the biggest difference for you and make them a focus. Is it getting more sleep? Is it finding time for yourself each day? Is it staying connected to friends? It could be a lot of things and they all affect your attitude, self image, and ability to take care of yourself. Maybe it's time to set a goal with one of these things?
I am thinking about time with friends (outside of work)...it has been so limited lately. I want to really make a concerted effort to find that time. Some of you on this Board are so good about that! I ALWAYS feel better after spending some good time with some lady friends (you all are a great example of this). This week I am going to schedule two times coming up to be with a friend or two for some quality time!
So, by now a lot of you read about our excitement yesterday--my usual early morning time and Milo came in (like he does every morning) to get breakfast and it was obvious something was wrong--I thought that he had eaten something. So I picked him up, tried to figure it out, and then went in and got Ed. He got the flashlight and we checked him thoroughly and found the little "fang" marks right on the edge of his "lip" so I was on the phone with a vet and found that the closest one was about an hour away at that hour (about 4:10 am). It turned out to be a great place. He was able to come home last night, but after two antivenin shots--I guess that snake venom causes their circulatory system to go haywire. Their blood doesn't clot so they test blood coagulation to see if the antivenin is working. He needed two vials but it worked (THANK GOD). We love that little guy and he just turned two. Ed and I picked him up at about 6:00 pm, paid the $2200 vet bill (YES....$2200), and brought him home. He seems to be fine--still swelling around his neck, but good. We have a plan now to fix our back yard so that the dog's area (which is pretty big) has 1/4 inch square fencing lining the bottom of the fence around the whole yard to keep the snakes out of that area. I was SO tired last night and I am tired today (I think it is the emotion of it all) but I am so glad that we had a good ending.

Carole: So, did Zoe wind up spending the night last night or did the kids pick her up? Did anyone take you up on the pool offer? Sounded good to me! LOL about you and Ken keeping that water clear---it makes Tracy feel "needed" I would think! I am sure it will clear right up. Oh, it would be beautiful out there to have those white lights! Nice! How great that Mary had the food there, helped clean up, etc....I wonder if your comment that time really was heard? Just so nice to read!! Well, glad that Ken's cough is getting better and hope that it was just allergies or a bug or something. I guess that the xrays would show if he had fluid in his lungs so that is ruled out? Hope that you got some rest last night after your late Friday.... wow, you really were taking a lot of those pain meds, weren't you? Especially after reading Christine's post.....that tells us all how much pain you were in! So glad that you have been able to wean off of it....especially with the side effects. Loved reading about the findings at the geneology event. Really sounds like an interesting trip! Hope that you have a good day today....
Christine: Oh, how I wish I could do something to make your healing faster! You said "two weeks" and I thought, "It seems longer!" and I am not even living with it each day! I am so amazed at your strength and positive attitude. I am SO glad about the eye situation as well. Wow to the young woman taking over Federal Programs..."easy"? LOL, that shows us both how little she knows...wait until she hears the attorney talk about how to track time, etc. What a monster!! It will be great for her to really learn what it is about. How did it go with Cheryl? Eek about the lack of A/C---I can't imagine! I would hope that maybe the boys and her were finding some routines that mike make it a little bit easier? I hope so. Yay for Gary using some self-control with the temperature. That drove me CRAZY about our trip to FL. It was very hot and humid and places would blast A/C on you....all I wanted was MOVING air, not blasts of freezing cold air. I hope that the heat in the 2nd floor can be managed with fans so that you can sleep. My fan in our bedroom is my lifesaver with hot flashes! Hope that you have a little cooler day today?

Sue: So glad to hear that your ending of your trip is going well too...I'll be that Sarah and the boys loved picking the harvest from Jason's garden! LOVED the picture with Barb! She seems like fun so it's great to hear that it is true. So, did Buster pass away? I remember her always talking about him on FB and she hasn't. I remember when her mom passed, but didn't remember reading about Buster. Sounds like you are finding ways to work around the heat---hope that this continues to work for you. What a great trip (although sorry that Hannah and the gang came home to such a hot house). I was reading that Southwest is slowing down on hiring until they can get that one model of plane back in the air in November. Has this affected Shea's application? I hope not....safe travels to you today!
Lisa: So, did you find a suit yet? I know that you are on a mission to get DH settled with that! I am sure that it will be a relief to you!
Shelly: Hope that you have some time off today to be at home (and not working...maybe relaxing!)
Well, we filled out a rental app for a place in OR for DS19. Apparently, in OR, there is a law that whoever gets the app filled out first and meets the minimum qualifications gets the apartment (it is to avoid the possibility of a landlord discriminating against a future tenant). So, hope we filled it out fast enough. Also, this is an area that is mostly students and the app said that the co-signer (us) and the tenant had to show that they make 5 x the rent in wages. Seriously? What student is making $4500/month while going to school??? Anyway, the rental office is closed until Monday so we'll see. In the meantime, DS25 accepted a job with an orthopedic group. He asked for a higher salary when they offered him the position and they agreed to pay him the higher wage. So proud of him...it's hard to negotiate things like that. After my long run, I am going down with him to set up the kitchen, etc. in his new place. I can tell that he is excited and I am excited for him. Well, need to get going and get this long run in. Have a good day ladies and I will try to check in later.

Mornin' Gabrielle... thanks for starting us off this Sunday morning... I slept IN until a little past 7! No girls today! LOL Long "good" day yesterday - but sooo tired last night and couldn't fall asleep! WHAT! I do not like fans blowing right on me, so I am either HOT or CHILLED... WTH is wrong with me??? Anyway - after I made a quick late run outside to pick up cushions - due to unexpected storms... I did fall asleep and slept OK. Didn't get a lot of laundry or general cleaning up done yesterday - so maybe today... we'll see. Already 75 with humidity of 88%! Might be a pool day! LOL Definitely will be a pool day - but even that - I can;t stay in "all day"... I get chilled there as well. So will get in - cool off - get out, do a few things, get back in... kids won't be coming up (most likely) as Jaclyn has plans for a play date for Eden - and Tim is working... Matt & Patti ""might" come up... we'll see. Sisters will be up at some point - and since they left burgers here the other night, I would imagine we'll be doing burgers for lunch! LOL Slow start to my day - feeling kinda... blaah... but will catch up and see what my morning brings ♥

Quick hi as we enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel! Another great night of sleep....watched the CNN Apollo 11 special and lights out by 11pm....slept until 8:30!
Did a quick skim....
Gabrielle....glad Milo is doing better but ouch to that vet bill! Glad things are falling into place for the boys....hope Max got his application in with time to spare!
Thankfully Shea got hired just before the freeze at SW and his training starts mid August....he should actually make it home so we will see him in October! Originally he was starting Labor Day and would not be home until 3 days after we left but he was able to get in the class that starts 3 weeks earlier!
Time to load up and head to our final stop at the Flight 93 Memorial!
See you from home later.....stay cool all!

Sue: WOW Yes, gotta love those good nights of sleep - even being "away" and not in your own bed!! Enjoy the final stop this morning - I remember it being such a moving and beautiful place. LONG ride "out there" though, LOL It seems like it truly is out in the middle of nowhere! WOW Getting home around 6 PM and back to work tomorrow...
Glad the kids all got home safe and sound - YAY for Sarah getting such a good haul from the garden! Yikes... I guess for folks that are used to AC the hot house was a not so welcome homecoming!
Gabrielle: SIZE IT UP SUNDAY... I know what will make me feel better - it's just getting it DONE that seems to be my issue! I truly feel that more sleep would make me feel better - and keep me more "focused" on my eating/drinking habits... but since I have no idea of how to make it happen... what's a girl to do?! LOL I have another "goal" in mind that may/may not help with sleep - but now to implement it!
I am glad you are making time for friends outside of work!
Oh Yes, I saw on FB that poor little Milo was bitten! How scary!! So glad there was the vaccine he had and that the antivenin shots did what it is supposed to do! I'd be kinda scared to go outside your house these days! How would YOU know there was a rattler out there?? Good luck with the new fencing - and hopefully it works after installation!
OMGosh - NO... Zoë did not stay last night - they came up to get her... although they DID go home and take a nap before coming to get her! They had called and asked if I'd keep her a couple extra hours, so of course, I said yes! They did what they needed to do (cleaning for new washer and dryer to be delivered) then went to their room to lie down in the AC and promptly fell asleep! UGH!
By the time they got here the girls and I were back in the pool... so they got in for a little while... but they were headed home shortly after 6! Jaclyn came to get Eden but had to get home as Tim was cooking dinner... so at the end of the evening it was just the 4 of us (Ken, Me, 2 sisters) in the pool! Kinda nice.
OH yes, yesterday the pool was much better! NO GREEN... not "Crystal clear" but can see the bottom again. It's all good - even being green we can get in and get cooled off!
I guess yes - a chest X-Ray would show "congestion" but not clotting... I am happy the cough is subsiding - so that tells me it was something else, yes allergies maybe - or a bug.
Yes, glad to be OFF the nerve pain med... in addition to that I had the "real" pain meds!
WOW Such great news with both boys! Fingers crossed that Max's application was the first in! YAY for Ty too... negotiating the higher salary! WOO HOO for being asked to help set up the kitchen! SO fun for you - enjoy ♥

Mornin' Sue... YAY for another great night of sleep! I envy you! Great news for Shea too... Safe travels today - enjoy ♥ Been having internet issues today - so my posting has taken longer than usual... a lot of copying and pasting! UGH! Matt got my phone switched to Google Fi yesterday, he had switched Ken Tuesday but mine couldn't be done then. So far so good - and going to save about $130.00 per month! YES My AT&T bill was going up to over $160.00 this month! UGH! Between that and the Direct TV savings and our oil budget is going DOWN this year... makes me feel GOOD about the financial stuff around here. I still need to contact AT&T to cancel my service - will try (again) to do that today! Last night I couldn't get through... seriously? THAT many people all calling AT&T at 7:00 PM on a Saturday?! OK Guess I need to get moving. Not even going to shower or get dressed - will just put my suit on and go from there. Then gotta get Ken moving - so he can help me get the pool vacuumed before anyone may/may not want to use it today! Stay safe and cool everyone ♥hugs♥

Good morning
Well I fell asleep early last night so needless to say I'm up early this morning. It's ok though. Audrey dances at the art fair at 11 going to that and then look around at all the art. She found some home made soap so I'll pick some up for her. It's been a long first week back to work. But in 2 weeks were going to the beach again to use a 575.00 gift certificate up at a resort. We won it at the last Christmas party we went to in December with the old company. Looking forward to it.
Gabrielle WOW 2200.00, that's a lot of money but poor little Milo is definitly worth it. I hate rattlesnakes, living in central and eastern oregon you really have to watch out for them. I loved the photo's of Monteray. I have to say I loved that town when we visited, we went to the aquireum as well. Audrey I think was only 5 at that time, and ate at Forest Gumps as well. Have fun on your long run.
Carole glad the pool is getting clearer, I kind of miss my pool but not all the upkeep. I read that you went back to full time work, ugg. How many hours do you work a day? I work from 7:00 to 4:30 no lunch so it's a straight 9.5 hours everyday. I get really tired with those hours but I do love the OT. Hows Tracy doing? I think I read she was in the hospital again. Hope she's doing better.

Sue loved all the pictures of your trip. Why is it vacation goes by way to quick. When do you go back to work? I really loved the glass blowing vidio and the old homestead pictures and broom making pictures. Looks like all the kids had a great time and loved making smoore's. They got to go rafting to and seemed to love that to. Lot's to do to keep them busy and bonus of playing with cousins.
Christine hope the shingles are getting better.
OK need to get going for now. I hope everyone enjoy's their day.
Jenny

Good morning! Size it up Sunday? Many of the things mentioned would help me. My biggest obstacle is finding the passion and motivation to stay focused and CONSISTENT in a healthy lifestyle. And I know that lies within my own mindset. But it is GOOD to think about the whole picture of yourself and your life and think about what changes you can make. I certainly could use more friend time, and tracking and letting anxiety get the best of me on some days.
Gabrielle-wow what an experience with Milo but I know that pets are like family members and that must have been super scary and exhausting! Around here people need to worry about small pets being out during late hours because we have an occasional coyote or fox roam the edges of our small rural town. So glad that you have a place situated in OR. Crazy rent prices at all campuses it seems.
Jenny-It's great that you can look forward to your beach trip and even better with a gift certificate to help offset the cost. I just didn't sleep well last night, don't know what my problem is...probably too much on my mind about the wedding!
Carole-I am glad that you have a pool to cool off in...I think the heat wave clears our area tomorrow and we will be in the 80's, that's much more comfortable! I have laundry, etc. to do today. Don't think we will go shopping for suits/bras on the weekend because stores are busier.
Sue-safe travels and glad that you got a good night's sleep. We have watched some news clips about the moon landing...I was like 10 but I do remember Walter Cronkite broadcasting it. Man am I old!
Can't wait for hair cut and coloring on Wednesday. Starting to see the end of my latest work project. Searching library records to see if I can find some of the articles that I could not find online.
I need to make a grocery list and go shopping. I don't know if that will be today or tomorrow.
Will check back later. Time for a second cup of coffee!

Afternoon all....got home about 3:45 pm...brought all the stuff in the house, opened windows, got fans running, got a load of laundry going, chicken breasts thawing quickly on the counter to grill shortly....Jason just went down to the lot to pick what ever needs to be picked and will stop at the store for a couple groceries to get us through tomorrow and Tuesday. It's so hot in here I can barely think but we have rains coming over night to cool things down for a couple days....then back to the upper 80's....but upper 80's will be MUCH better than knocking on 100° door....it is miserable!
Time to start today and catch up....after being away 9 days, it's hard to go back and catch up...don't think I'm too far out of the loop!
Gabrielle...LOL, I'm always worried I'm duplicating the thread too since I'm not usually one of the "regular starters"! When I texted the girls when we got home I included a picture of the thermometer in the kitchen....outside 99°, inside 88.9°...she said that her house was finally comfy and they had rain overnight that brought a cold front through and it is only mid-70's today and they have windows open! CRAZY heat wave. I'm sure hoping that her rain last night is what is going to cool us down tonight!
Gabrielle...I agree about friends outside of the family and work....I think that is what I love most about my paint nights....getting together with "old friends", some heading on 40 years now and just having fun. I think for me, once the girls left home and started having families of their own I knew that Jason and I needed something or someone to help fill the social time we no longer had....I know that is way the "Y" group loves to get together....we spend so much time together when our kids were younger and now we miss that time together so we are starting to "make time" to rekindle those friendships we love and cherish!
So glad Milo is doing well...I read the post on FB yesterday and didn't realize that there was a vaccine for snakes for dogs....guess it must be more in areas where that is an issue...plus, I don't have a dog. So glad you were able to get Milo to the vet in time for the antivenom to work. Good ideas to add the tiny square fencing on the bottom of your fence to keep this from happening again.
Carole...I'm with Gabrielle...I had to giggle at the fact that you and Ken let the pool get green! You are going to have to have Tracy stop in on a regular basis to check on the pool when she finally finds a place of her own! LOL!
Yes Gabrielle...Sarah said the boys had so much fun "harvesting" for Grandpa....they come out sometimes and help but since they never know what he is doing back in the lot, they never know what they will be helping with....Sarah mentioned that Jackson was especially pleased with his "crop"!
Nope Gabrielle...Buster is still going strong! He's 16, slowing down but still doing fine! As Barb says, "he's an old man now and all he does is eat, sleep and poop"! LOL! I always loved his "furry wiggles" for good WIs! Will say that the Hale Farm was a HOT HOT HOT day trip...but the positive was that we were done by 2:40 pm and it got hotter after that!
You read right Gabrielle...Shea was originally in the Labor Day class which is the LAST until probably November but was able to get into the class mid-August. He actually got his out processing orders while we were in MI so everything is falling into place....as will all government stuff, so many "hoops" to jump through and he was just praying the orders came through that he would be getting his orders to out process on time to make it possible to do the early training...when he opted to take that one he gave up his spot in the Labor Day class and may not have gotten to do that one......so far seems everything is falling into place for him.

Carole...glad you got to "sleep in" this morning....with no girls today you could wake up to a quiet peaceful morning! LOL...I love a fan blowing on me...I would rather have the "breeze" from the fan and pull up the sheet than to lay there w/o a breeze and sweat w/o a sheet! Jason is like you....he hates the fan so it's a small one that only blows on me! I think if it were me...I'd be in the pool ALL DAY today.....this weather is miserable!
LOL Carole...we have been spoiled this vacation...have been sleeping in king sized beds all week....tonight back to a queen! It was funny at the house.....there was a king, queen and a queen with a set of bunk beds....I told the girls that one of them gets the queen with the bunks and we would take either of the others. Sarah said they would take the one with the bunks since it would likely be one of their boys that needed to be out of the "boys room"! Hannah said "we don't care, you pick"! Jason and I laughed and both said "we'll take the king"! LOL! Both of the girls said "you deserve it, enjoy"!
Actually Carole from the hotel it was only about 30 minutes to the memorial this morning! It's right off Route 30 but it is 3 1/2 miles off the road....it was truly a moving experience...I did OK until I picked up the phone and listened to the 3 messages left on answering machines.....tears started streaming in seconds! Thankfully we were up and out of the hotel early and the memorial only took a couple hours so we were home a lot earlier than expected....6 pm would have been tough but we got home early enough to actually make some "real dinner" tonight!
WOW Carole....our phone bill is $270 for 4 phones and we are paying installments on 3 phones.....without that, our bill would be well under $200 for AT&T.
Jenny...I'm sure getting 'back in the work swing' is tough....I'll find out in the morning! LOL! How fun that you can plan for another beach vacation with the gift certificate to offset the cost! WIN!!
I'm so excited for all the great pictures I got of the boys...they had so many fun memories of the trip and am planning on having this year's Christmas ornaments done by the guy at work that does the wooden ones with the pictures on them....will do one for each with my favorite pix of them either rafting, at the lighthouse, at the petting zoo....so many great memories....on the back with be "Ludington MI Family Vacation 2019"....I think it will be special for them. I also want to do them all new beach towels with many of the pictures of them from the trip....I love personalized gifts.
Lisa....I was 9 when the Apollo 11 moon walk took place...makes me feel old too! It was fun to watch the show last night...I remember some of the news footage that they included but they also had a lot of footage from the astronauts as well from the landing.....fun to "re-live" it as an adult! Kind of felt that way today at the Flight 93 Memorial....hard to believe it was 18 years ago already!
Rains have started....Jason should be home soon to cook some chicken! Plan to hit the sack early...want to keep up this good sleep pattern!
See you all in the morning! Waves to anyone I missed!

Hi all. Just wanted to check in and say hi!!!! I have just felt so drained lately and after watering my flowers I have just been done!!! Not much energy at all once my work day is done. So sorry I haven’t been checking in. I sure do miss you guys when I don’t make it here. DS Clayton DDIL Lezli and baby Hank will be here tomorrow sometime in the afternoon or evening. Not sure what time they will be leaving DS Tyler’s house plus they will be stopping at my parents house to say hi and stretch for a few. I didn’t get home until about 3 today and had to move hoses so I could mow. Got all my mowing done but was mowing all the way up to almost dark. Did get hoses back out and started watering again. Oh for all the rain we had earlier it sure is getting dry. Parts of my yard is crunchy
Well the work drama continues. Oh the stress of working with kids!!!! I know not all kids are a challenge but some of the ones I have certainly try my patience. I had one girl that chose to go out of town because she had asked off earlier but somehow I didn’t get her note and scheduled her. She did contact me that day and told me she was out of town and couldn’t find anyone to cover. Thank goodness it was only one day. I almost fired her but I really need her to make it though the next 3 weeks and then she leaves for college. She definitely got my lecture and will have another talk with her when she gets back. I will let her know the only reason she still has this job is because I was in a bind. Then Saturday I had a young lady (23 yrs old) not show up and didn’t call to let us know she was going to be late. No one knew where she was and her car was at the park. She didn’t call anyone or let anyone know she was going to be out all night. And she lied about some stuff. Her family reported her missing with the local authorities they was so worried. Then about an hour later she just walked through the door at her grandmas house where she lives like nothing was wrong. When I talked to her yesterday I told her to come in today to find out if she still had a job. I let her go today. Didn’t have to think to long on that one.
Oh one last thing. My washer has been sounding awful lately and once in a while smelled hot. Finally called the repairman and he came out Friday and looked at it. Called me and told me what was wrong and because it’s a front load the part that was wrong required them to replace the whole tub instead of just replacing The bearings that was out of it. I guess you can’t just replace the bearings on that. So I would be paying freight for an oversized load plus the repair plus service call and so on... Anyway it was going to cost almost the same as a new one. I opted for a new one. It will be here Wednesday. I went in planning on getting a top load and ended up buying another front load but have changed my mind again and will call and get the top load that was the same price as the one I bought. I hope they let me do that. Ok washing machine just finished so I need to throw it in the dryer and head to bed. It is already 11 and work will be her way to early.
Night all....
