Welcome to the CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend still least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Ruth - hope your migraine is gone. I don’t get headaches often, but when I do I feel miserable. I can’t imagine a migraine.
Yesterday was a fun day. Started at the Museum of Science and Industry. I always enjoy hands on stuff, enjoyed it a lot. They had a great exhibit on Apollo flights. My favorite exhibit was the storm centers. They had a vortex right in the middle and talked about tornados, hurricanes, wind shears, avalanches ... I always found that interesting. So much good information on aging, exercise, how you can repair yourself... it was like that exhibit was made for me.
Next stop was the Navy Pier. Great place, shops, restaurants, lots of walking. Spent a few hours just strolling. It was so nice just to have time on our own. Last stop was the Willis tower to go up to the Skydeck. I’m pretty much afraid of heights, but went up and walked to the windows to see the city. I did not go out on the deck though, there were 3 of us that just said nope! It was a great view though.
All in all a great day. I got in 14,500 steps, feet tired, exhausted. I’m sure I could have got more, but saved my feet for today and more walking.
Enough for now. See ya tomorrow

Good morning! Joy, that all sounds fascinating. I’ll bet the aging display was great. We will definitively have to go there sometime. Looking forward to hearing about today. I’m with you on heights, no way would I go out on that ledge to see the view. I don’t even like hotel balconies that are above about 5 stories. Had a 22 story one in Hawaii. No way!!!
Migraine aura lasted so long that Stan had to call and cancel my PT appt. I hated to do it last minute, but I could not see to drive. Aura lasted way longer than usual. Then I had a headache most of the day. Not a really bad one, but just felt drained all day.
I got a lot more done in the bathroom/closet. About ready for the closet person this morning and then the construction men tomorrow morning. Really happy Mara won’t be here the major part of the demolition of the tub area and the one wall.
Today is DS’s 43rd birthday. My baby boy!!! We will meet him for dinner tonight and return Mara. DIL has to work, but we want to take DS out to eat. We are going to a Mongolian BBQ place, one of his favorites since he was a little guy. And there are lots of good choices there and lots of things Mara will eat.
Need to go get dressed, make our bed, and pick up just a few things in the closet to give her room to measure. Have a great day all. Will check in tonight.

Joyce, Bill and I enjoyed Navy Pier. So many cute shops and places to eat. Your museum trip sounded interesting and the Apollo info is so neat to see and think about. Lots of steps-good for you.
Ruth, sorry to hear you had to cancel your PT, but migraines are terrible and I’m sure the PT would have probably made it worse. Happy birthday to your DS and the restaurant sounds good.
Had a nice visit with my aunt and 2 of her children. She is 94 and was able to follow and contribute to the conversation. The place where she lives is very nice. She is in independent living now but has age in place, where if she needs more services they can bring them in or move her to a higher level of care. I’m all packed and we will be heading for the airport in about 2 hours. Great visit but anxious to get home.

Good evening. Dottie, I’ll bet you are looking forward to sleeping in your own bed. Nice to visit, but always nice to be home!
Because of my cancelled PT yesterday, DH was able to take the car in for it’s very first oil change. He drove it home and parked it. Today after the closet gal was here, we took Mara and drove to the next town north of us to Walmart. About 3-4 miles from home I started smelling something - sweet almost. I was knitting so didn’t pay attention if we had passed something. But then I noticed the smell had followed us. I asked DH about it as Walmart, but of course, he didn’t smell anything. Coming home it was even worse. I asked DH if it was possible they had left off a cap or something. He said it was possible, and he grudgingly said he’d go out and look! Sometimes he believes my smeller, and other times he just humors me! 🤬🤬. Anyway, after about 5 min out in the garage, he comes back in and is NOT happy. They did indeed leave something off and the entire engine compartment is covered in oil!!! So he hops in the car and heads back to the dealership where we had the work done. He said the service manager wasn’t very happy either. And shortly after he got to the dealership, younger DD pulled in to get a air bag recall done on her Subaru. This isn’t the first car we’ve had this happen to. It happened to one of the Miatas that DH had leased years ago. That was at a Goodyear store rather than a dealership. Funny thing was, later today, DH got an email survey rating the service he received. He said not sure which visit and he wasn’t happy with either one of them. It said if you didn’t plan to give them all superior marks for service, they wanted you to contact them. So he did but hasn’t heard back. Will be interesting to see what he hears back from them. I did tell him yesterday to ask about a free first oil change since we had gotten one with the Outback. He got it free, but they charged him $20 for tire rotation. To me that is not kosher! Those are usually bundled together. Oh well. Next oil change may not be at that dealer.
The closet visit went well. Turns out we had the rest of the closet done in 2007. I sent this gal an email yesterday and told her that we had CC do the closet, that it was at least 10 years ago (turns out it was 12), and that she could probably look up pictures online of what we had, which materials were used, etc. She was only here maybe a half hour and part of that was measuring. Really happy with what she came up with. 5 drawers and 4 shelves above for shoes that we don’t often wear.
Tomorrow the construction crew will be here. Were supposed to be here at 7:30 (😢😢) but they have another stop here in town so it’ll be closer to 9:00 am! Told the foreman that didn’t make me sad at all. But the rest of the time it will be 7:30. Ugh!!! Think we have everything but a few medicine cabinet things packed up, closet is cleared out, and I will take up the last 2 rugs and take down the 2 hand towels. Looking forward to getting started.
We met DS and had dinner. Hope he has a good evening with mara. She didn’t eat very well. We will get her back Thursday morning, return her Friday afternoon, then not have her for a week. Looking forward to the break!!!
More tomorrow!!!
