Day 24 - Deal With Discouragement
Weight loss can start out easy when motivation is high, but, at some point, it gets harder. Life gets in the way, cravings become more intense, and some dieters start to panic: - It shouldn’t be this hard. - I’ll never be able to keep this up. - I don’t want to do this anymore.
It’s normal to feel overwhelmed or discouraged or doubtful. You can allow this to erode your motivation or respond to these sabotaging thoughts.
Finding Encouragement - Read your Advantages Response Card more often. - Add up the difficult hours - Instead of saying I’ve had such a hard day/week, count up how many minutes/hours you actually struggled. It’s not nearly as much as you think in 24 hours a day/168 hours a week. - Focus on what you can do today. “Thinking too far into the future is incredibly unhelpful.”
How do you stick to your plan when the going gets tough?

This morning I plan to use the one pound drop on the scale to motivate me to "be wise" while at a friend's house today. There is a swimming pool, I have a new bathing suit, I will swim and hydrate and be moderate in my food choices while remaining hydrated.
In general I:
* Look at where I am
* Remind myself of where I started * Tell myself how much better I felt at goal weight * Keep my eye on the prize/goal
Today I know that with five more pounds lost I will be over the mark (my next goal) to be in onederland SO that will motivate me.

I really like where I'm at now and I don't want to have to work any harder than I currently do to deal with weight. That keeps me motivated.

If I'm feeling like I want to give in and chuck the weight loss plan, I:
* Remember what I look like in photos and what I want to look like in photos! * Remember that I'm doing this for my health, so I can age well and stay active * Think about the mindset I had when I lost 40 pounds previously and try to get that mindset back * Remember that this losing weight thing is pretty easy IF I stay OP and don't get derailed

This is where my weekly goals of tracking, going to my WW meeting, and keeping up with my online support groups help. All those things support me and assist me in staying in the right mindset. The reviews we do during the year really help. I always do better during them like now. Right now I feel that it is easier. Today I ate lunch out, it wasn't perfect but it was better than it could have been. We went to Denny's and I used their "build a burger" to make a sandwich that had way less calories than their entrée burgers. Also they gave a huge fruit bowl instead of the potatoes. Feel good about that.

- Think of the WW saying that if one tire goes flat you don't slash the other three. - Remember why I'm doing this- the Response cards help - Bullet journal with habit tracker for using MFP, etc
