WORK IT WEDNESDAY... Will "WORK IT" by tracking (better than yesterday) Planning (better than yesterday) and Moving! I confess that after less than 3 hours of sleep Monday night - yesterday easily went to Hell in a Handbasket here! Work was difficult... lots of "little things" appeared on my desk - so still no time to dig into my settlements for July! I did get the June Management report out - but MAN... just carving out time to get the back logged work done is proving more difficult that I imagined! Maybe today!
Ken brought home - and prepped my produce last night... I was in bed at 7:15, NO TV, NO READING - JUST IN BED! Slept good, until 11:30... then awake every hour - as usual!
Was supposed to go meet a friend after work - well he is up from FL and "holding court" at a BBQ place tonight - I won't know many - if any - people there, except Steve - who will be a pretty popular guy, so I may just take a pass on it - and try to catch up next year. Have to see what the day brings...

Good Morning ~ cool color for our Thread lol...I can never seem to get the colors scheme when I start the day so mine are usually boring...thanks Carole!
I had my appointment yesterday with the Eye Specialist. He said there was still some swelling in the eye but not too concerned and there was no sign of ulcers on the cornea. That's good. After thoroughly examining the eye he scooted back and said, "You had a severe outbreak. This was not mild!" He also said to expect occasional swelling here and there as the virus was still active. He recommended I decrease then stop the Gabapentrin and wrote down the name of a pain medicated lotion used for shingles: Capsaicin. Immediately stopped at the pharmacy to buy this cream/lotion as I was eager to try ANYTHING at this point to help with the raw pain on my face.
OMG...do NOT use Capsaicin lotion. Do not! Apparently it's main ingredient is from cayenne peppers and all it did was BURN. I had tears running from the burning sensation. Which turned worse and felt like I had severe sunburn on my face - like 2nd degree burns would feel like! It lasted for hours and I could NOT clean it off - it just spread. I had burning on my eyelid so had to flush my eye! It was awful LOL I lay with a cool compress on my face for a bit and that seemed to help but I immediately threw this product away! Back to square one.
I'll use moisturizer and my E Oil. Geesh...

Lisa: Hopefully you got the motivation you needed to finish up the work project! YAY Hair appointment day... enjoy some pampering!
UGH Suit shopping has to be the worst! The last "suit" we bought Ken was from Sears... all great - just what he needed - got home, and NO - the blacks do NOT "match"! I know they are "close enough" but it made me so angry! Ken of course didn't see it - so he kept it, wasn't going there again! LOL Good luck!!
Made the switch from AT&T last night - now to "test" how Google Fi - REALLY will work for us! LOL It's kind of weird to me - that I can TEXT from home (on my cell) but cannot make a call?!? Weird... but that doesn't matter right now - as we have the land line anyway - and were so used to NOT having cell service here - that just being able to text is OK with us! Kind of strange to NOT be with AT&T, been with them since the kids were in high school! LOL Just keep telling myself this is fine - saving the $$ makes it fine... we can deal with whatever it brings... saving the $$ makes it worth it... LOL
OK Need to get myself motivated now... want to get my lunch packed before heading upstairs... just because... I think it will make my morning go so much smoother!!
♥hugs♥

Mornin' Christine - LOL I want YELLOW for the thread but real YELLOW is very difficult to read! LOL So I improvise!! Our day yesterday turned sunny and warm (74) so after my shot I opted to come home! Only "short" about 1 hour - since I worked later Monday - so I enjoyed some sunshine yesterday late afternoon! Hence the YELLOW - I want SUNNY and BRIGHT!
YAY for no issues with your eyes... OUCH that he can tell this was not a "mild" case... good news is - if it were a mild case - you could risk getting them again, right? That's what they used to say about chicken pox... too mild of a case, there is always the threat of getting them again!
OMG OUCH! HOW Could he recommend a cream that burns? OY VEY! Did he say WHY he wanted you to give up the Gabapentin? I know the last visit I had with Pioneer Spine - SHE asked if my eyesight was blurred! She referenced still taking the Gabapentin and asked if I Was getting blurry vision?!! That was one of the reasons I took myself off it right after that!
Take care hun - glad you are on the upside of it all ♥

Earned over 5,000 steps at work yesterday - usually with SITTING all day I might get 3,000 so it was good to be moving - our Speech Therapist stopped in and I gave her a tour of the Academic wing - Tons of walking as it's just huge. I spent about 3 hours at work yesterday on the phone doing Case Management for incoming K students. It's tough but I love this part of my job. I attempted to share with the Deans of Students the info I was discovering and how it will support my Evaluation Report - Queen B had a glazed look. I don't think she had much interest. Seriously?? What is her deal? DL was flitting all around yesterday - each time I attempted to speak with the Prince she managed to 'pop' in and change the subject. Frustrating... Remaining positive that I am secure for this school year.
Carole -eager to hear how you did with the Shingles vaccine? Doesn't sound so far that last night was much - I do know when my outbreak first emerged I had a low grade fever for 2-3 days that caused random chills which causes goose bumps which caused pain as everything was so awful. I would imagine folks would get that low grade fever but that should be manageable with otc Tylenol or something...I could be wrong. Had to chuckle as when I mentioned this to DH the look on his face was 'shock' and he did NOT want the vaccine for fear of having that fever. I was like, "LOOK AT MY FACE" and tell me you choose that over 2 days of the chills/fever??
Okay, gotta get going -
Lisa - glad you got Greg moving on the suit. Ugh to the expense. Right? But you have a point, he'll want to look good at DD's Wedding!!!

Morning Carole, Christine and all to come....how did I totally miss yesterday???
Had a fun night painting...just 2 of us but very relaxing and a nice break after a couple hectic days at work...I should be caught back up by the end of today! Yesterday people just kept saying "when you aren't here things are so screwed up! Don't you have a good back up??"...the answer is NO! Rita can handle the little things but has know clue about the spreadsheets....mail gets delivered to the wrong place...I clean up messes for days!
See you all after work...will catch up then!

Good morning!
Wow, FINALLY posting. I was sure that I had posted yesterday, but I must have been dreaming. I have been reading posts, but have had to get out of the house so early for meetings (and track on Monday) that I didn't get around to posting. SO glad to be here and reading what you are all up to--I have been thinking about you!
Carole: Thanks for starting us off on so many days....and I am glad that you got to bed early, but wish that it hadn't been interrupted by the wake-ups! Are you worried about things? I was waking up last night, but it was because I was over-thinking things. Hope that it might be better tonight. Like Christine, I am also wondering about how the shot side effects are going. I am thinking that, since you didn't mention them, you are not having them? That might be wishful thinking! I STILL have not found the vaccine here. Will keep plugging along though. Might put our name on every waiting list in town. So you are meeting a friend tonight? It sounds like you are doing that instead of seeing Steve from FL? Sounds like the better option to me if you won't know anyone at the BBQ place....either way, it will be nice to be out in the evening connecting with people! Any new hits on houses for Tracy? I keep seeing "for sale" signs go up out here, but don't know what the market is like in your area. On Sunday (after my long run) I spent the day helping Tyler get set up in his apartment. Kate flew in last night and takes the Bar Exam on Monday/Tuesday. He is starting his job today...so excited for the two of them. This apartment is perfect for them and much more affordable than Boston....nice to see their patience pay off! Hope that you have a good day today without Shingrix side effects....

Carole: So I have been reading about you switching from ATT but now I am confused....so, you have internet and texting from home with Google....a land line with ATT? But your cell doesn't work at home? Is it because there are no Google towers near you? Is that why the cellphone phone won't work at home but works other places? Hope that it all turns out to be the best fit for you...sounds like a real money saver!
Christine: Wow, wow, wow.....your courage continues each day! Great news from the eye doctor! Boo to the lotion recommendation though--cayenne??? YIKES!! I feel so badly for you! I would understand if it was ONLY super itchy, but not with the pain, etc. Sheesh, he needs to stick to eyeball medicine! Wow, so surprised that DH doesn't see what you are going through and want the vaccine...on the other hand, knowing you, you probably plug away and don't complain much so he under estimates the pain of it all. It really does sound like you are turning the corner though. Listening to you describe Barbie makes me think of people who think that a job is going to be "glamorous" and then, when it really gets to the work, they disengage. Hope that she steps up and does her part and, if she doesn't, it doesn't fall on you. When does Linds head back? DS19 doesn't start until September 30th!! The University of Oregon starts on 10/1! Crazy late to me, but I guess that is how it rolls. We found an apt for DS19 and got the application in quickly and were notified yesterday that it is ours if we want it. That is why I was losing sleep last night...thinking of asking my cousin if she can stop by this morning to take a look at it before we "sign our lives away" today. On the other hand, I can't believe that it would be that terrible--- a lot of students live there. I need to get over it! This apartment is available starting on 8/12, but I told DS we will move him "some time in mid-August". I need to find time off then which is HARD with the school year starting. You know how that is. I hope that you have a great day today and that you feel even better tomorrow morning.

Good morning! I am feeling a little more motivated since I saw email from prof about how he wants his pubs organized so I'm ready to go in and start sorting them, but I will need to leave at 10 for my hair appt. Guess I am ready to wrap up this assignment and think about wedding things. However, if my boss comes up with other stuff to do, I will take it because the extra $$ is really nice right now with all the $$ being spent.
Carole-I hope your day goes better than yesterday. I got better sleep last night so I am feeling better getting started today.
Christine-probably good to get the eye checked. You certainly did get your steps in yesterday.
Sue-glad things will be caught up. I guess it's good to be missed?!?
Gabrielle-I know it's so easy to get busy with the week...I hope that you are doing well.
I have a grocery list and may stop at the store after my hair appt but also need to stop at the meat and deli shop since I like to buy my meat there, it's much fresher.
Still trying to decide whether or not to go with the rental car or just take mine, but I am leaning towards just taking my own, one less thing to do before we go and get back will be getting and returning the rental, plus save $400.
Waving to all..will try to BBL!

LOL, just read over my last post and there is a grouchy-sad face in my post (before "ATT") and I don't know how it got there! Must be gremlins!
Lisa: So, any decision on the suit? For my DMIL's funeral, we bought DH a suit and it is still the one that he has--got it at Men's Warehouse and it wasn't inexpensive, but he still has it if he needs it --men's suits don't seem to be so much about "style" like us women are. It is tough though to spend that much! I wonder if you might find something at a consignment store? Who knows? Oh, so sorry about the 57-year-old cousin...and having just seen him at the service must have made it feel even harder. Time to focus on that wedding and a happy future for your daughter---that is where you both need to be right now (I think). You have both done so much to help your kids, now is your time to enjoy seeing them move on in their lives. Did you finish up for the professor? Such an interesting fellow! Hope that you have a good day and that you get that suit-thing out of the way!
Shelly: I was SO happy to see that Clayton and Lezli are visiting with little Hank!!! They are from NV, right??? I will get this all correct one day. Did they drive there? If so, what a long drive! I am SO, SO glad that you get family time though! Hope that you are taking some time off and enjoying them---uggh to your worker (especially teenager) issues. So tough....
Jenny: Loved the video of Audrey at the performance at the Art Show (or in the park)? So amazing how graceful they are! Hope that you are doing well and that the driving is working out for Audrey. So, we will be in Eugene for a quick trip sometime in August---not sure that I will have time to come to Salem, but maybe we can meet somehow? I will have to get back quickly due to work and I will be driving to bring up stuff for DS19....I will keep in touch.
Okay, time to go. Hope that you all have a good day. To Work it today I am going to focus on getting enough water. I have been slacking on that and can feel it on these 100 degree days (especially at night). See you all later!

Ooops...forgot to post to our Sue!!! So glad that you had a great trip and I can only imagine the void at work when you are gone so hope that you can SLOWLY get caught up. I was so glad to read how well Shea's timing worked....what a great situation for him! How fun to be a pilot for SW too. So they have a hub in NE? I know that Houston is a big hub....sounds like a nice situation for them and great that he is getting the training in come September. I just love that the boys all had so much time together on this trip---very special memories in the making and they are all old enough to remember as they age. What a great thing you have pulled together!
Okay, now I am REALLY going. Have a good day!

Evening all...feeling pretty much caught up at work now finally....having Paul & Todd both on vacation the "traffic" in the office is minimal so I can get a lot done w/o distractions! Heading back to yesterday since I totally missed it!
Yup Carole...we have had a couple of really chilly days but today it's low 80's and beautiful summer day...the HHH is coming back this weekend with temps in the low 90's. Better than last weekend but still humid! We got over 3 inches of rain between Monday and Tuesday.... Oh my, sorry for the tossing and turning...that was me last night...I was in the recliner WIDE awake at 11:30 pm....not sure why?? BUT...on a positive know when I did got to bed at about 11:50, I went out like a light and didn't get up until my alarm so all in all, I got a decent night sleep despite the fact it was short. Paying for it a bit today so hopefully I will be sound asleep early!
WTG Carole...5 out of 7 days this week is great! Now that I'm back from vacation I need to get back to religious tracking...since I've been flying by the seat of my pants this week with food, I haven't bothered! Monday I was just shy of 8k steps but Tuesday and Wednesday I'm in the low 9k....much better! Not as much as normal since I've been pretty much glued to my desk catching up but not complaining!
I had a head of lettuce in the fridge...I always have onions in the house....Jason brought tomatoes and cukes home from the garden so added some meat and cheese...Voila! A nice chef's salad for lunch! Yesterday I didn't need lunch since they invited me to Mark's "birthday potluck"! Today I ordered a salad....tomorrow, I have enough stuff to make another salad and Friday we always order out! Been managing with yogurt, cottage cheese and fruit for breakfasts....not bad considering I haven't really shopped in 2 weeks!
Thanks Carole...used a little peppermint EO on the roof of my mouth and my headache was gone in about 10-15 minutes! Yes, time to bite the bullet and get the shot! Fingers crossed you don't have the same issues I did....some people at work just get the sore arm...others feel like they have been hit by a truck like me and Jason...it's a crap shoot but better than shingles for sure!
We all love board games and card games.....we had a few cut throat games of Skip-bo last week too....so fun now that the boys are getting older and can play the regular versions of many of the games instead of the "junior" version! Yes, Chess was a huge hit last week.....Jason is hoping that when he gets old the boys will want to come and play chess with him like we all would play Cribbage with Uncle Ray! The last time I saw Uncle Ray he WHOOPED me in 2 games of cribbage!
Christine...glad you are finally rounding a corner with those shingles...it's about time! Thanks for the nice weather you sent us...we have that exact day today that you had yesterday....low humidity, sun and warmth! Heavenly! Vitamin E is an awesome thing for skin....that is what the girls used for rips on their hands in gymnastics and I used it on my scar from my TKR....today someone actually asked me why I don't have scars from my TKRs...I had on long shorts so my knees were out....I said I do if you look close...but most people don't notice them. I used the Vitamin E religiously!

Christine...I'm still SMH that you are getting bumped down the list for the vaccines....CDC says over 50....I had no issues here....people younger than me at work are getting it too as long as they are at least 50! Crazy!
Lisa...hope you get a "boost" of energy! By now your assignment should have wrapped up and your hair all done! Sorry suit shopping has been so frustrating and expensive. I forget where we got Jason's...it was like a TJ Maxx or Dress Barn place for men....we got his suit for Sarah's wedding for well under $200....unfortunately a decent suit, like a nice dress...does not come cheap!
Not sure how I totally lost yesterday??? I knew I wouldn't likely get on at night after painting but I thought for sure I had at least popped in to say good morning!
Carole...I know today was better than yesterday for you! Yes, when you are tired, the whole day just goes downhill from the get go! I hope you pop in to see your friend visiting!
Christine...GREAT news from the eye specialist....after seeing Uncle Ray lose the vision in his left eye that is truly a concern! So glad you were spared the vision complications! OH NO....NOT Capsaicin! That stuff is brutal! I was given a script for my knees many years ago that I thought was going to burn my knee caps off! Then to make matters worse, I needed to get in the shower for work and the warm water exacerbated the heat and pain...I couldn't even function! I sat with ice packs on my knees for hours until it subsided!
Carole...hope all the switching of the phone service works out for you and have the service you need and the savings too! It amazes me that AT&T varies from place to place....we have unlimited everything and as I said before, if not for the 3 phones we are paying for our bill would be well under $100 for Jason and I.....how are you feeling after your shot??? So far sounds like you are doing OK??
Really Christine...DH would not want a couple days of feeling crappy and low grade temp but would want WEEKS of what you are dealing with??? Sorry Queen B seems to be detached from "her job"! DL always manages to have perfect timing to interrupt and change the focus to her with another subject!
Oh....forgot to tell you ladies...got home from vacation to find out the freezer down at Sarah' died....everything lost....thankfully the stuff in it that was ours and good was minimal but what a mess....Jason has spent the last 2 nights down there cleaning stuff out and getting ready to take that thing out of the basement!
Hannah's calling....gotta go!

Hi all. Jut wanted to stop in for a minute. The visit with DS Clayton and his DW Lezli and DGS Hank seems like its going FAST!!!! I’m doing my best to get out as early as possible. Had lunch with them today and when I went back to work I asked someone to order for me so I could go in home. Got stuff for super and came home and put the pork loin on the smoker. I roasted some broccoli and squash (zucchini and yellow) then I cut up some sweet bells, cucumbers and had some really good grape tomatoes. My DSIL came over and she made a salad and some homemade ice cream. Ugh I got upset tonight because while everyone is outside visiting guess who is in the kitchen Alone!!!!! Yep same old story. DH came in and acted upset with me and said “I don’t know why they even come down to visit because you never visit with them”. I lost it and jus started crying 😢. I said I had to cook and no one was helping me. I couldn’t set down just right then. What do they think? It just fixes itself??? What am I supposed to do? I have to work because I only have 2 weeks vacation so if I take it when they come to visit then I can’t go see them and since the 2 boys live in different areas then I just have to work when they are here. No way around it. I do my best to be off by 1 or 2. Anyway all I can do is apologize to the kids if they think I’m not wanting to visit with them. I really do but I have to have food ready too. Oh and clean up ......yep again all me!!!!! 😢😢😢😭😭. I just don’t feel I can beg for help. Just not in me. Last time DS Tyler and Cassie was here it was so nice because she was in the kitchen helping the whole time practically. I loved it. I didn’t even have to ask. This year will be hard because she has a new baby and I remember how it just made it harder to help. Sorry for ranting!!! I just get so overwhelmed because I don’t have much time and I feel over half of it is sent at home in the kitchen by myself when they are all getting to visit or be on their phones or whatever. At least DH did help when he saw I was upset.
Anyway they will leave out Monday morning and I am sad about that. This weekend we go to a family reunion So again less time getting to visit with them but it will be good for them to see some of the ones they don’t ever get to see.
Alright I’m about to fall asleep and I have to get up in like 5 hours so will check in when I can. I’m sure it won’t be tomorrow as my parents will be down. See you all soon.
