WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (therefore acknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

I got busy doing things before work this morning and time got away from me. Not sure what’s going on, I’m really in a funk. I turned down an invitation last night and am turning down another one this evening. I’m feeling like time is getting away from me. I think it’s partly because DH will be 49 on Sunday (I’m right behind him in October) and partly because Alex is going to be a senior in just a few short weeks. Mid-life crisis perhaps? I just feel like before I know it, I’ll be dead. Sorry, I don’t know any other way to put it. I know, not an uplifting post. I’m sorry.
Lori, enjoy your time with your mom and her friend.
Nancy, looks like you stuck to your plan. One more day until your WI; I’m curious to see how it goes.

Howdy folks!
Just checking in to say hi and thanks to Mancy for reaching out to me through my mom!
All is fabulous in my world....loving the 32 hour per week work schedule that allows me to spend at least 1 day a week with my folks and also to travel around for pickleball (yup, still doing that!).
Recently returned from playing in the national senior games in Albuquerque! So much fun!
Still attending WW meetings weekly and continue to maintain about 1/2 of my 68 pound weight loss from 2006.
I still work a lot with my urges that direct me to binge but through yoga and meditation I am at peace with myself exactly how I am as I do this work.
I think about our work together on this board often and hope you are all ok!
Love to all! Beth

{{{{{{{Jan}}}}}}} Oh my goodness, you've got so much to look forward to. Grandchildren for one thing. Nothing like it. I've got 30 years on you and sometimes I feel like my life is just beginning. Sure one day the kids will move out. That can be a positive. More time for exercise, for your classes, for time with friends, for reading, maybe some travel. Time to count your blessings - my list grows and grows. I wish you could make that trip to NY. Lori and I will cheer you up. By the time you read this you'll probably already be feeling better. Sometimes these feelings seem to come from nowhere and are gone just as quickly. Nothing like a good night of sleep. Take a look at the photo on Facebook between your two boys. Yep, you're already smiling <g>.
Beth - What a lovely surprise. I'm thrilled that you're still playing picklebaLL and still attending the "workshops" <g>. How about the roller coasters? Kudos on maintaining half of your weight loss. You sound fulfilled and happy. Can't ask for more. Your Mom and I have been playing Words With Friends on a daily basis ever since you left us. Stay well and pop in whenever you can. We've missed you!! Hopefully the convenience stores have been missing you as well :-)
