Hello all. We were having wifil problems this morning so I just got here. It's great to see everyone again.
We're having a heat wave here too I think it's about 30 (was only supposed to get to 18 or so) degrees but the wind is blowing so hard that when you look out the window you can't see a thing with a ground blizzard going on. It's been like that all night and they say it will be until about 8pm tomorrow night. It sounds like all of you got the extreme cold we had a few days ago...sorry for sending it.
Marlene, I love how you look at the postive side...only three months till spring...lol. I'm looking forward to it already but like most of you, I would never move south.
Country singer Merle Haggard recorded a song If We Make it Through December and it says then everything will be allright...of it that were only true.
Yes Marlene, sounds like the baking and cooking bug has got you. I don't go to facebook often but sometimes just to catch up with family and a couple weeks ago oldest living brother had posted a pic of all his flour, sugar, choc chips, fudge making stuff, etc. There's just him and his wife and he plans to make all kinds of cookies and fudge. He said he's giving it all away. I hpe so because he and his wife are quite overweight and he has high colesterol
Gareth, that's pretty much a problem here all year. It's so dry here that our skin is always dry and the nose too.And I hate the thought of you having to go out too. I know I sure wouldn't want to go out here today. The wind would blow me over and although it's "warm" the wind makes it feel horribly colder than the therm says it is.
Bipp, I'm sorry to hear that you have no contact with your son. That is so sad. I know another woman who has no contact with her daughter. I know she feels bad about it but she doesn't handle it gracefully like you do. Mary is right about Christian living...he's not living it as he should.Of course none of us lives it as we really shoulld but the Bible is specific about honoring your parents.
Marm, the only time I get that "I'm not a robot" thing is when I'm signing up for sites to send me emails..I don't know what the problem with internet connection was this morning for us but it affected all our computers. We rebooted the modem but till nothing for hours.
Mary, you have a nice selection of stores there. I've never heard of Herschberger's either except a company here that sells hot tubs. For cat lovers you are picking good things. And what a great deal...spend $50 get $25 off!!! Can't beat that.
Doris it's good to hear that the girls were all able to go to school today and that MJ is feeling better. I know you're relieved about Rachael's awful cough improving

Ruth, it's Herbergers and they are in conjunction somehow with Younkers, Bon-Tons, Boston store, Carson's and others (I'm reading off the back of their card). They put lots of coupons in the papers, but you have to read them carefully to see if they qualify for what you buy. I don't go there often because of that, and they are close to us. I'm glad you feel good enough to post, and that it was your computer that kept you away.
Tomorrow our manager and maintenance man are giving us a lunch here. Our main. man use to run a restaurant and likes to cook. He was in the kitchen when I left the party today, already doing some prep of some kind. He has cooked for us before.
It is getting dry here, too. We have a small humidifier that we put in our bedroom in the winter, and it is time for that now.

I don't think we have any of those stores here but I haven't been to our one and only mall in about three years so they might have one now. They keep opening new stores all the time here.

Marm one of the things I tried to post yesterday was how caring and kind you are. Thank you so much for your thoughtfullness on my ailments but I have to say that compared to what most of the rest of you and all our dh's are suffering, my ailments are trivail. They are mostly just annoying. Of course I wasn't saying that last evening when I did have a lot of abd pain again. Anyway, just wanted to thank you and all who posted to me about that stomach ache I had.

Ruth, sometimes those minor(?)discomforts really are more annoying then a major one. I can complain as much about little things as the bigger ones. BTW, I have never before been told I have a positive outlook - thanks!
I'm tired tonight. DH & I went to WM before supper to get what I need to make the date bars & fudge, plus everything for Christmas Eve dinner. I got the cutout cookies baked before we left & vacuumed all the rooms, so lots of standing today which irritates my lower back. I should sleep good tonight. Think we'll go to Kohl's tomorrow but not sure why. There's nothing I'm in need of or want, but DH thinks I should make use of the $20.00 certificate I got.
Back to knitting for a while - I'm still working on DH's sock.

Well I will try again. Then I'm getting off of here for the night. Weather doesn't seem to keep us in. We are out in it most every day. DH a good report from the Dr. And my Physical is good to. So now Thurs. is the day for Ecko. We had to stop @ Credit Union for the money for cards and ect. Of course to WM few things to pick-up. Also a script @ K Mart. ate out. then on home. But DH is always the one that Cleans the Snow. We have a long Drive and garage isn't onto the house. witch would be fantastic if it was. When I worked nights 9PM to 7AM and winter, Of course those was days you did wear a Dress. At that time I didn't even wear stockings. Just Flats and no boots. Crazy right. It was way out to. and the car would be covered w/snow or Ice to often when I was off of work @ 7. I had a big ole car you could use Automatic or Shift. I always chose to Floor Shift, Cheaper on gas. And DH changed the Oil. It took 13 Qts. bombed us out. Bipp, Have you noticed that Most always a comment to you when I post? Hey what a nice skirt to have this time of yr. DH bought me a Knit outfit yrs. ago. for Xmas. I was young, It was Turquoise Skirt and top was Striped w/White. So pretty. DA (Wups at first I had DH , Ha,ha.) "n" I wore the same sz. We was more than happy when one of us did get something in clothes as we would always wear each others. Wish I had that out-fit now. Just 2 yrs. older than me. Nice to have help w/the lights for the window. Gareth*, Really do you know how I can get to cookies? Buy a Mister for the Bedroom its better than a Humidifier, Small and sits like on a Dresser. Hope Hubby is happy w/the Car. And fixed the way it should be. "U" working tomorrow? Marlene, Did that happen to be Icy Hot Spray for Pain. I see they have a Spray now. I always used the Cake. but now use the Rub-on Jell. Well when I get off of here I have to do something productive. I stopped making cut-out cookies yrs. ago. But make the same Cookies just dont' mess w/all the cuts and Frostings. I've been thinking of making Old Fashioned Fudge. Been yrs. I used to make it often. I'm laughing to wonder what Yur Hubby's Face will look like. You shouldn't mentioned those Fig Bars, You know what I want now? Doris, Well at least nice for the girls to have those Exams out of the way. I hope Doris gets over this whatever she has. Mary*, good shopping girl .You could do that one every day, Ha,ha. So how much did you pay for that Cat Calendar? How nice to have the ones cooking for your Lunch. And Celebrated the BD' And Ann's to. Rose Marie*, Something I won't use is Self Check-Outs. I tell them it will just beat out some of jobs. One I told that to was always going out of her way to talk to us. not anymore. Guess I ticked her off. As that's where she works. Ruth, Good to see you here. Not good on the WIKI But happy your not sick. I think it is supposed to warm up some here now to. I hope so. I'm w/you. I would never move South either. Might be Nice in the Winter but that's not Summer. I don't subscribe for Emails. I don't even want Dr's reports on computer. I think after Christmas I will have the computer guy over. As I also want to know how to Fax. I can't figure this one out. Sleep well Friends.... Marm~~` Well I will see what I have do this time. ??

Good to read your posts. My friend came up and held the lights for me so I could get them up at the window, so I do have a little bit of Christmas here. I think my tree is in the shed, I may get it out and set it up. It has lights on it.
Marlene, those date bars sound so good. That and the cut out cookies were some of my favorite cookies to make at Christmas. I made cut out and frosted cookies, and hung on the tree. We were in Topeka, Kansas. I think that was the only time we went home for Christmas. We, my first husband, and 2 kids, about 2 and 4, I think, we drove thru the night in snow. Stopped behind a big billboard at the Mo, Iowa boarder because we could not see. Got home to Atlantic at about 9 am and they closed highway 71 coming from the south.
Son, Kirk, stumbled going up the stairs into the kitchen and threw the package he was carrying..."what do you want me to do with this tie?" Those cut out cookies were still good when we got home....had sour cream in them. Thanks for the memories. Love it!

I also made date nut pinwheels. Put them in a coffee can one Christmas and hid them. Found them one night in Jan when I came home from work about MN. I had forgotten them.. I sat down and ate most of them. And people say to me now, why are you a Weight Watcher!!! Duh
I am so blessed. I do keep my angel busy. I remember one night coming home from work, getting off the interstate. Hanging to the inside left curve and zipp I was on the upper side of the curve to the right.....as a car came down going the wrong way. I had nothing to do with moving the car up there. God is good.
I have an appointment with a dr in my PCP office tomorrow. I could not see my dr until Jan. 9. I want to go over my meds. When I had my eyes tested for routine last week, I had visual fields done and it showed up that there is a large blank spot in the upper left...not there a year ago. He feels that I have had a stroke in the last year. I had a stroke many years ago and have been on a baby asprin since then. Thanks for letting me share. Bipp.

Marm, I tried the self checkouts a couple times and each time something went wrong. I agree with you in that it's just another way to take jobs away from real people. I'm glad to hear that you had good news at the doctor's office for you and your dh. I hope the ECHO goes as well
Bipp, I'm so glad you got your lights up. You driving thru the night reminds me of how my dh loves to just keep going instead of stopping. When I was young whenever we went anywhere it was driving straight thru. I remember a trip from western Ny to Missouri when I was about 10.(and I was hte oldest) My parents, four brothers one of which was an infant, and me. Seemed to take forever to get there and my mother and father took turns driving. Also the finding of cookies and eating most of them sure is something I've done too.I'm so glad you're going to have that eye thing with possible stroke checked out.My mother made food to take with us but I do remember stopping once for gas and my father got us each a bottle of pop (soda) but then he wanted us to hurry and drink it which was always a hard thing for me to do..drinking a carbonated beverage fast. And it was something that was so rare...he never ate out...so I wanted to enjoy it not hurry.
Marlene, I don't know whether to mention your date bars to dh or not. I think if I do he'll want some. He's already mentioned cherry pie, apple pie, and carrot cake just an hour ago. He still has part of that pecan pie.I may have to make him some kind of dessert for Christmas since he probably won't want the pecan tarts.(he won't be getting apple pie because we have no apples and I'm not going near a store) The rest of you are all braver than I am
I somehow got changed from myself to "guest". Tried to send my message anyway and it asked if I was a robot

BTW...you are all making me hungry for fudge. I like the old fashioned kind too.Crumbly (don't know how else to describe it) and nice and chocoaltey. I think they used to have the recipe on the Hershey's cocoa can.
