Although truth be told WW did that for me too. I didn't want to waste my precious points on food that was "just ok".

I think there's still a lot of misconception about low-carb and ketogenic plans. A "strict" keto plan is like a low-carb version of paleo/primal, with emphasis on non-product foods (aka: real foods); good proteins, lots of green veggies and other non-starchy veggies, and heart healthy fats. I mostly do a clean low-carb with a lean towards keto. Most days my net carbs are pretty low, but I still eat to satisfaction -I'm rarely ever hungry. I don't force fats. My body has fat, so if I'm not hungry, I don't douse olive oil on my salads or butter on my veggies unless I want to. I do use some products. Or I may try something new (packaged) and decide if it's worth the carbs or not, or how my body responds to it. I am not 100%. I stick to plan about 90% of the time, but if I want a double bacon Swiss burger and fries, I have it occasionally -then get right back on plan. If I treat (not cheat) it's usually my only meal that day and I'm right back on plan after that. Most days my calories come in at 800-1100, and that's eating when I'm hungry. As for it being a fad: The Banting diet has been around since the 1700s and is the basis for low-carb plans. Dr Atkins made it popular in the 1970s and it's still pretty much the cornerstone of the low-carb industry. The problem I have is that, since he passed away and the "company" took over, they push their products way too much. Products that use high glycemic ingredients like maltitol and maltodextrin, too much soy and things like that.

I agree with dotren in that while I may do without the bread and pasta and such on a regular basis, that doesn't mean I'm living without it forever. I indulge on occasion. On Friday I shared a few nachos with my friend. And same as dotren I just hop right back on plan with the very next meal. I'm not living my life without bread or pasta or potatoes. I just don't make them the focus of every meal.
