3. Cook at home I’d never say that getting healthy is impossible if you eat most meals outside the home, but it is certainly more difficult. You don’t need to be a fabulous chef to take control of your food destiny. Successful foodists develop a handful of recipes that they can count on to be easy, healthy, and tasty, and use these as the foundation of our health style.
4. 10,000 steps It’s way too easy to be sedentary in the 21st century, but it’s also pretty darn easy to be active. Even if you can’t always make it to the gym, making the effort to hit 10,000 steps each day is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to keep your health and weight in check.
Do you have and special recipes that you fall back on? If you do, feel free to share. Do you try t get in 10,000 steps? Do you have some way of tracking them? What is your favorite way of getting in steps? Any special plans for the weekend?

Do you have and special recipes that you fall back on? If you do, feel free to share. Nothing special. During summer with a lot of produce I make * salad: cooked bulgur, chopped cucumbers, garlic, mint, labne+laban, drizzle of olive oil, garbanzo beans * eggplant: as tomato sauce for pasta, sliced and grilled then put into arabic bread as a wrap with garlic, tomatoes, green pepper, onions OR slices/chunks with rice and some pomegranate molasses and nuts * hummus from a can that is ready to go that I add chopped tomatoes, onions and green pepper to * tabouleh
Do you try t get in 10,000 steps? Do you have some way of tracking them? What is your favorite way of getting in steps? No - exercise has been eluding me or I have been evading it?
Any special plans for the weekend? Nothing that I know of. Hubby might take figs to a friend in Harissa and I might tag along BUT doubt I will go with him

Today, I am making pork chops in the crock pot. This is a favorite of DH & myself. Just 2 pork chops, bit of ranch dressing mix, 1/2 can chicken soup. bit of salt & pepper. We will have it tonight with some rice & a tomato salad. This can also be done with chicken breasts.
I have stepped up my exercise routine. I am feeling better both mentally & physically. My fit-bit has died & I am not counting steps, just have a routine that I try to follow every evening.
No special plans, soup kitchen at lunch, trip to store for DD, church tonight, that's about it.

Do you have and special recipes that you fall back on? If you do, feel free to share. ** My "default" recipe used to be chicken strips, thin pork chop, or fish fillet (cooked with a spray of olive oil) with potatoes or rice and frozen veggies. Now that I'm eating less meat, I do a lot more roasted or stir fried veggies and white or sweet potato or a grain. There are individual containers of rice or quinoa that need to be heated for 1 minute and I've been using them a lot. Do you try t get in 10,000 steps? Do you have some way of tracking them? What is your favorite way of getting in steps? ** My knees won't let me do a whole lot of walking any more so I don't do my 3 mile walks that I used to. I used to have a FitBit tracker that clipped on to my clothing, but it quit working properly and they don't make that style any more. My cell phone will track my steps if I remember to wear it in my fanny pack. Otherwise, I haven't done a lot of exercise, which I'm now trying to remedy.
Any special plans for the weekend? ** Nothing special, other than church tonight. I think my son will be coming tomorrow so I will bake a loaf of whole wheat bread so he can enjoy it fresh too.

Do you have and special recipes that you fall back on? If you do, feel free to share. I'd tend to fall back on the same recipes - maybe too much! But, I know I like them and so does DH. I do try to look for new and do find new ones sometimes. I'll take a look at my recipe binder and see if I can find some that I haven't shared before.
Do you try t get in 10,000 steps? Do you have some way of tracking them? What is your favorite way of getting in steps? I probably do get in 10,000 steps on work days. I use an old fashioned pedometer during one or two months each year when the workplace has fitness challenges. I've never had one of the electronic trackers...never been able to decide which one is the best. My favorite way of getting in steps is being at work...because it happens without needing to think about it. But, to be honest, I'm not sure those steps are as "good" as it would be if I went for a walk or something like that.
Any special plans for the weekend? No special plans or anything at all. There are no volunteer events this weekend, the local baseball team is playing on the road. Just everyday life, grocery shopping, household (cleaning, etc) and yard (gardening, maintenance) stuff.

Cooking at home:
I’m working on eating at home. No special recipes to share right now. Tonight dd is grilling steaks for us.
10,000 step goal:
I don’t use 10,000 steps as my goal. I’d love to work back up to 5,000 steps regularly, and then work back up.
Weekend plans:
Relaxing is high on the list. I have run errands this morning and finished up a few household tasks. Tomorrow’s agenda includes church then farmers market.

Do you have and special recipes that you fall back on? If you do, feel free to share. No real recipes. I have been eating lots of bits and pieces during these hot days. A bit of cheese, a few crackers, some fruit, a couple handfuls of veggies, etc.
Do you try t get in 10,000 steps? Do you have some way of tracking them? What is your favorite way of getting in steps? I wear a fitbit all the time and have gotten 10,000 steps every day for almost 2 3/4 years. (3 years in October). Mine is mostly walking.
Any special plans for the weekend? I have the food pantry yesterday, and then went to a friends for dinner. Today after church I helped set up for our church's annual garage sale which is happening this coming Thursday and Friday. I will do a bit of weeding later this afternoon when that part of my yard gets into the shade.
