Quiet day yesterday. Hubby is off to take figs to a friend in Harissa and I have no wish to be on the road on Sunday going to visit people...could go but opted not to. I cooked/grilled slices of eggplant using the panini grill and it was much cooler than frying or barbecuing. Hubby approved. We have some left over for lunch today. Still trying to figure out what to make for Wednesday...
BEVERLY: If I were going to volunteer I believe that what you do at the "soup kitchen" would be top of the list. It must be rewarding.
LYNN: How fun to be tracing family history! I have only done the free stuff on ancestry.com and some other sites. There is one that is through the Latter Day Saints that has linked with Ancestry and through that site I have found out all that others in the family have shared...my mother's side goes back much further than my father's...at least from what I can see. I hope you enjoy the lounge chair movie theater and pizza!
CHERRY: How did you prepare the green beans? We usually make them boiled then dressed with lemon juice/garlic/olive oil/s&p OR fried with onions OR fried with onions and tomatoes OR with meat, onions and tomatoes over rice. Haven't been eating meat recently so haven't made that recipe in awhile and don't really FRY the beans...just saute in a bit of oil.
PAM: A blue sky is a wonderful thing...ours is blue but there is a bit of a haze here and there. The breeze is blowing and the leaves waving. It will be a lovely day.

The movie last night was very good...I did not realize Shakespeare didn't write anything after the Globe Theater burned down. Also, he was also estranged from his family for a long period of time, luckily making amends when he finally returned home for good after the fire. The movie depicted that part of his life.
Hot today, I just turned on the air conditioner in the kitchen/dining area. Laundry on the agenda as always...DH is going out for a swim as it is high tide right now. I will make bird balls to get me through the week. I took out the ground chicken and turkey to defrost. BTW, when I went to Shop Rite the other day, I found the Schmidt's 647 bread, Italian style. It is 1 point per slice and really tastes like regular bread. I bought 4 loaves. Luckily, I have room in my downstairs freezer. It is very rare to find it as it sells out so quickly!
Enjoy your day today!!

Good morning peeps!
Yet another decent day here, weather wise. The humidity is back up, but not unbearable.
The Soup for Souls was a big hit yesterday, with the school supply give away going on in the back of the same building, we had lots of children & families. They were getting their plates of food to go, then taking them out to the adjoining picnic area to eat it. Everyone seemed to have a great time. I was glad that I made the huge cake, every bite of it was eaten.
Not a lot planned for today, I need to run to the grocery store, but, I may put that off till tomorrow. Right now, I have to go out & pick the tomatoes before the heat of the day kicks in.
Lynn, you are so lucky to live close enough to the ocean, to be able to go there when you want.
Waving to everyone, Happy Sunday all!

Good morning. I didn't pick beans yesterday. I went outside to water flowers and it was hot out, so I decided to wait to pick my beans. I will pick them this morning and have them for dinner tonight. I usually just drop them in salted boiling water until tender, about 3 or 4 minutes. I'm also going to bake a loaf of bread today.
I thought my son would be coming this weekend but he has a funeral on Monday. Next weekend I won't see him either as he has something to go to. I haven't seen him much at all this summer. At least I had the girls here. He was here for 3 days around the 4th of July when they first came, and we went to see him a couple weeks later. Now it will be some time in August.
Have a nice day, beaches.

After church we went to the farmers market where we were able to pick up apricots, cherries, and plums. Weβre relaxing this afternoon. Iβm continuing to aim for blue and smile.
