I'm IN.
Movin' slow; my Friday full-body PT plus the three hours of gardening in the sun seem to have awakened aches I didn't know I had. And there's an air quality alert here in NJ today.
Good thing the only things on my schedule are laundry and Sunday Steak Dinner...
Coffee's brewing ... ☕☕☕...
🌿🌻🌿🌻🌿🌻🌿🌻🌿 Have a healthy-eating day, all! 🌿🌻🌿🌻🌿🌻🌿🌻🌿

Good morning.
It's pickle day today. First step is to wash the cukes and then pack them into bags with ice cubes and water for a few hours. Gotta get going on that. First I will run outside and check to see if there are any more pickling-sized cucumbers on the vines. They are like zucchini---you turn around and all of a sudden you have some giant ones ready to explode.
All the peat moss and compost will be turned over in the new garden bed and I will put whatever plants I have in there. The centerpiece will be a reblooming purple lilac. The rest is whatever I could scrounge from the slim pickings at the nurseries. Yellow echinacea, pink perennial geraniums, purple liatris. I have four big phlox that were tiny self-seeded babies from my other garden that I dug up last Spring that will go in there too. Garden mums are in the nurseries now so I'll pick up a couple of those this week. The mums I have on the other side are doing well---I've had to cut buds off twice already this season so we'll have blooms in the fall instead of July.
There's a possibility of rain/thunderstorms this afternoon so I need to get moving. First, more coffee!!!
Wishing all a pleasant day---KOKO!

A dog has been barking since before 6a.m. So an hour. Everyone else is asleep but my neck hurt so I walked upstairs to sit on the couch. It’s cold and foggy outside. We will go to the beach this morning.

Good morning all. Thanks for the start, diva49,. fullmahina, I agree with DebDoesWW, we need to see pictures! Your garden sounds wonderful. DebDoesWW, the Carne Guisada meal last night was very good. I will return to HEB tomorrow and get the combo sale. jamescat1, I'm sorry about the barking dog; so frustrating. Your temps at the beach sound nice; I hope you enjoy your time there. We're eating up leftovers tonight so I can basically enjoy the day. We'll watch Nascar race later today. Waving hi to all!

Good morning. I’m in.
Yesterday’s high was 90° which wasn’t so bad, and today is predicted to be 88°. Way better than the inland temperatures in the Central Valley where Audrey lives.
Audrey, I could use a dose of fog for a few days!
I thought about a trip to SF today but heard they are having one of their running events that tend to completely disrupt normal life there. Perhaps I’ll drive up to Pacifica, south of SF, where it is almost always cool.
Yesterday morning, when I worked the book sale at the mall from 10 to Noon, there weren’t huge crowds but we did a steady business. I imagine that it picked up later in the day and in the evening.
I wish everyone a great day.
KOKO

MASS SHOOTING THIS EVENINGGilroy, California is about 35 miles south of San Jose, California and is known as the Garlic Capital of the World. Every year on this weekend in July Gilroy holds a major garlic festival. The festival runs from Friday through Sunday. Today the festival was to close at 6 PM. At about 5:30 one or two men with guns opened fire, randomly shooting what reports say are 11 to 16 people. Exact number and information on fatalities are still sketchy on the news. What the hell is our world coming to.

Oh my god Mike seriously? That festival is part of my childhood! My parents used to take me there annually. People with their stupid 2nd amendment bullshit need to take it somewhere else. What about me and my children's rights not to get shot up at an effing festival. Or the movies. Or the mall. Or their goddammned school. This is ridiculous.

Last report I heard is that 16 were shot and three are dead (so far). And the gunman hasn’t been aprehended yet—massive man hunt going on in the park and surrounding areas.

Unbelievable. We can do something about it but we choose not to. Lobbying is taking the upper hand here. Money over lives. Same with war. Money over lives. Same with our American healthcare system. Money over lives. Always. No one should profit over the deaths of people. But here we are. I am sick to death of this!!!

What the hell is our world coming to. I saw that this morning. It's appalling. We just had an annual festival here (Picklesburgh) & I hate that I thought about the fact that shooters would have a field day with the crowd size. The saying that comes to mind is that our world is going to hell in a handbasket.
