Also consumer reports goes on to say you probably no longer have these in your homes since the study was done in June. Thanks fullmahina for the link. Until we can get those things to grow our own I guess it's a good thing they don't last longer than they do in the fridge. LOL. Chocolate lasts longer.

Also consumer reports goes on to say you probably no longer have these in your homes since the study was done in June. Thanks Becky---I hadn't clicked on the link! But it does seem to be an ongoing issue. I don't know whether it is actually happening more often or that it is being detected more often but YUCK!!! ETA: Okay, I read the CR article. I have to wonder how well the markets are cleaning areas after contaminated items are removed. Apparently listeria is a pretty hardy organism, thriving even under refrigeration. Killed by heat but hardly anyone I know cooks their salad greens. Funny, a few weeks ago I saw all the greens removed from the packaged salad greens refrigerated section of my favorite market. Employees were there with buckets of some solution and spray bottles, going over all the surfaces of the display case, even pulling out shelves and racks. At first I thought the refrigeration had died when I saw it was empty but then realized they were scouring the entire case. I wonder if there had been some products that were contaminated in there.
