Yesterday my husband called at around 11 to tell me that people were coming later in the day. We had lunch when he returned, worked on screens, I dusted and vacuumed and he cleaned the guest bathroom. We talked to children on Skype. A man came to work a bit in the garden and the guests arrived early. We sat in the gazebo out in front surrounded by trees eating nuts, figs and sipping water and soda. It was a good day BUT I was worried mosquitoes would arrive before they left. I finished a book before sleeping and think I have decided what the menu will be for Wednesday. We will grocery shop later today and as the house is now clean-ish there won't be much to do on Wednesday to clean...just food p rep. I think I am making chicken adobo (maybe in the pressure cooker), brown rice, a cabbage salad with ramen noodles, some sort of beans...maybe with tomato sauce and onions and figs for dessert.
LYNN: I am glad you have AC. Where does your husband swim...the Atlantic? Is it clean and nice? I read bird "calls" instead of "balls" to get you through the week and saw you chirping around the house...made me smile. How nice to have found a bread you like and be able to pick up four loaves at once!
BEVERLY: I am glad you had a big turnout for the Soup for Souls meal. How nice to know that what you brought was appreciated and gobbled up!
CHERRY: It sounds like you may not get the cupboard/shelves up in the basement for a bit. It will be nice to see your son when he is able to get by again. I found a recipe for green beans I might try...Hot Sechuan Style Beans...if I find good beans. I think it might go with the adobo chicken and the cabbage salad...we will see.
PAM: The apricots sound delicious! We only had a few this year. Wonder if there are any in the market. Right now figs are in season from our yard so am eating quite a few of those!

Cathy, your menu for Wednesday sounds yummy!! I'm sure everyone will enjoy!
Hot here again today and I don't have anything to do so I will relax and read...do some more laundry.
I drove DD into the city yesterday afternoon and we brought the vacuum cleaner she bought down. The traffic was bad going down, but not too bad coming back.
I also purchased tickets for DH and myself to see Come From Away on Broadway. They had a special $79 each for an orchestra seat, so I got them. They don't usually have these sales during the summer...only in the winter. I'm glad we were able to get them as I have been wanting to see this one for a while.
Nothing else...have a great day all!

Good morning. I got my beans picked yesterday and had some for supper last night. They were very good. I also had some chard from my garden, and a sweet potato. I have enough cooked for leftovers for today.
I'm not sure what I'll be doing today. If it isn't too hot maybe I'll try to do some weeding in my garden. There is also plenty of things to do inside too. I still have a few things to find places for in the basement. There are also a few boxes to go through that I didn't get finished when we were cleaning the basement. When I go through them, I'll put what I want to save in bins. Much neater looking on the shelves than the boxes. I also need to label some of the bins so I know what's in them.
Have a nice day, beaches.

Good morning beaches!!!
Hot & humid here, just the usual for end of July in the South.
By this time of the year, everything begins to look dried up, I am so tired of watering plants, that I just let most of them go. We have had lots of rain this year, but not much in the last few weeks. The only thing left in the vegetable garden is tomatoes & a few peppers, also, saw a couple of eggplants yesterday. All this talk about green beans, makes me want some. Think I will buy some when I go to the store. We haven't grown them in our garden in years, I don't know why. Maybe next year. DD brought us more fresh corn from the Amish Community yesterday. We had some for dinner yesterday, it is delicious.
Today, we are going to visit DS#2 & DIL#2. They live about an hr & 1/2 from us. Her parents are visiting from Atlanta, & DS has invited us for a bar-b-que. It is his MIL's bday tomorrow, so I am taking her a small gift. I'm sure there will be cake & ice cream. One of those deals where I will just have to make the best choices possible. I offered to bring a dish, but they said no, they wanted to prepare a meal for the parents. (all 4 of us). They are very sweet. We are so blessed to have 2 wonderful DILs. Both our sons married beautiful, smart, wonderful ladies!! Can't say the same in the SIL dept. LOL.
Lynn, I always wanted to see a Broadway show. Seems like every time we are in NY, there is no time, or it is just too darned expensive. Don't know when we will ever be going back now that BIL & SIL have moved down here. Their DD & DGD are visiting from Long Island this week. They just arrieved yesterday, I haven't seen them yet.
Waving to everyone, have a great Monday!
