lavonm , hope your doctor's visit goes well. borntexan , so sorry about your ongoing knee problems and yes, you need to learn to rest it!! Good morning. We didn't get the planting done yesterday. Kept discovering BIG rocks that needed to be removed. More than a little annoyed---when we saw the landscaper guys with the Bobcat dumping the dirt and all the rocks that had been taken out of the retaining wall garden we had them go back and take the rocks out. They did remove a big pile of them but apparently not all. With all the rain the rocks got a chance to settle in and now have to be dug out with shovels instead of lifted out easily. What should have been a pleasant easy gardening job is now a heavy chore. Oh well....it will get done, eventually.  Today will be who knows what. It stormed last night, heavy rains, so we have to see what the soil is like before we mess with the garden. Hopefully it will dry out by this afternoon. I have enough tomatoes to make some roasted tomato sauce so I think I will do that, at least. I did get one thing done yesterday---pickles! Five quarts from my planter full of cucumber vines. I planted five seeds in the pot. It's still going strong so maybe I will get another quart or two before they poop out.

The heat broke somewhat over the weekend, still humid but bearable.

Rene Yes I have been icing.I already had injections in both knees a couple of months ago.
I wish our heat had broken over the weekend but it is TX and it is summer so it was 100 and very humid.It's already 82 and very humid.

Had fun with the twins last night, finally celebrated our joint birthdays. Need to get serious about losing these last 5 pounds before the reunion in October.

borntexan, Sorry to hear about your knee. It's a shame the injection didn't work. Is the next step a knee replacement? I know that's the next step with mine once the injections quit working. fullmahina, reneinitaly, The dr appt was no biggie. I had to take my son for his annual physical. He's special needs & doesn't drive. fullmahina, Your pickles look tasty. Sorry to hear about the rocks. My DH gets stuck with that job when we're working outside.

Good morning all. Sounds like everyone is busy on this Monday morning. We finished our mall walk and also a quick stop for groceries. Came home to the phone company who arrived to lay a new phone line for us. We have had continuing problems with phone static and sluggish internet. After over a year of them patching things, they decided to put in a new phone line for us. Because we haven't had any recent construction, we won't have to pay for the new line. Whew! Right now, there is a trencher at the back of the property which will dig things quickly. But, from the pole to our house will have to be done by hand which will take awhile. I don't envy them working in this Texas heat. And, I really hope they don't cut into out utilities outside! I'll keep you posted. fullmahina, the pickles look great! Sorry you had to dig out more rocks. That is back breaking work. borntexan, I'm sorry your knee is giving you more problems. I hope the icing helps. lavonm, hope the doctor appointment goes well. reneinitaly, you have really had a hot summer in Europe. Hope it ends soon for you....just no winter yet! Waving hi to all! |

Having coffee and will have breakfast soon so I can be off to meet up with my WW friends at our non-meeting.
Local news is, of course, all focused on the mass shooting last night in Gilroy. I think the last I heard there were 12 injured ranging in fair to critical condition, and 5 killed including the shooter who was taken down by police. Very sadly, one of the victims was a 6-year-old boy. They seem to think, based on eye-witness reports, that there was an accomplish and are still trying to figure that out.
You can imagine how big this news is locally.

My daughter lives in Northern CA and I know how big this festival is. It will forever be changed by this, along with the lives of everyone who was there. Just wondering---is it too soon to talk about doing something to stop these tragedies? And yes, that was sarcasm.  |

borntexan, I hope you can get some relief for your knee zazzles,- So sad. I'd be interested to hear if there were multiple shooters. Many of the police departments only train for a one shooter scenario-especially at schools. They need to learn to train for a multiple well planned attack. It's sad they have to, but DH is on a state wide safety task force, so I hear a lot about this stuff. fullmahina,- How did you make your pickles? I've got some refrigerator pickles going. The first batch came out really well, so I've got two others in there. If they turn out as well as the first, I may make a bunch for friends.
