Most of us have a tendency to eat too fast. This is even more likely when we're busy. We gobble our food down and are surprised when it's gone or haven't really tasted it. Then we think we're still hungry when we've really eaten enough because our brain hasn't gotten the message yet.
QOTD: Do you eat too fast? What techniques do you use to help you slow down?
COTD: (Challenge of the Day) For today, slow down. Finish chewing and swallowing one bite before putting the next on your fork or in your mouth. Taste the food when it's in your mouth. Feel it's texture. Enjoy it!

I do eat too fast too often. Just gobbled down my breakfast. My biggest technique is awareness. When aware, I try to pay attention to the tastes and textures of the food I'm eating. I also make sure I swallow before grabbing my next bite.
Today I will slow down and enjoy my food. It's so much more satisfying when I do

I eat too fast too. Being aware is key to slowing down. I have been trying to do that and for the most part have been fairly successful. I lose track of how fast I'm eating when my mind wanders or when someone is here and I'm visiting as well as eating. It's then that my awareness goes away.

I eat way too fast!!! Sometimes, when I am eating with family members or friends, I will realize that I have almost finished my meal & they haven't. This makes me aware of how fast that I really do eat. Today, I will try to slow down & enjoy every bite that I eat. Great ideas.

Love the challenge today. Slower eating does make for more mindful and intentional eating. I accept the slow eating challenge today.

I take small bites. I don't put my fork down between mouthfuls, but I do keep each "mouthful" considerably less than a mouth "full." I do think it slows down my eating. Depending on what it is I'm eating, I'm more (or less) mindful of the taste and texture. Once in a while, I do catch myself putting the next mouthful on the fork before I'm finished chewing what's already in my mouth, and I suppose because I catch myself doing it, I stop doing it.

Good morning all.
QOTD: Do you eat too fast? I have been working on slowing down. I make sure my mouth is empty before putting in another bite, put my fork down, etc. In the (not too distant past) I found myself having another bite before I had even chewed the last one completely).
What techniques do you use to help you slow down? Besides those above, I have heard of using your non-dominant hand to hold the fork, or use chopsticks. When I go to friends for holiday meals, I keep an eye on the slowest eater (discretely, of course) and try to take a bite when they do.
COTD: (Challenge of the Day) Will try for sure !

Eating too fast is a bad habit I blame on my job (various levels of management in restaurants/food service). I've learned to eat fast because anything could happen. Along we eating too fast, also, multi-tasking...eating and doing something else at the same time - paperwork, etc.
Combat it by really focusing on meals when I'm not at work. No real tricks or tips...just awareness. I do think it does lead to better satisfaction.
How to do it? Just keep trying and being aware.

I eat too fast - had 30 minute lunch break as a nurse and sometimes not that. Scarfed food down. Mom was a slow eater and everyone was finished before she was half way through - my sister is a bit like that, too. I slow down SOME if with others...not so much on my own.
