Good morning
dotren, thanks I'm glad the a/c is fixed!!
cj, a friend gave me a fig tree last year and it seems to be growing pretty good. But I'm not sure when to pick the figs? I think they are high in calories, fat and sugar??? Good for you doing well on your program. You are doing all the right things.
Waving to all
Going to a ball game later today in D.C. with a friend. Will be nice to walk around. Hope the rain holds off. Eating is still not the best.

dotren, that is too funny regarding the trees. I didn't think about the critters eating the figs. I put mind inside of my fence. Hmm they better watch out for Maddie ;-)

Good morning
Took Maddie to the emergency Vet this morning. She had a swollen eye. They think she got something in it and was rubbing it to get what ever out. They rinsed out the eye and sent her home with meds. Already looking some better.
Eating is so, so. I hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well sunrose - Hope that Maddie is better today. The birds will get my figs if I don't get them picked in time. Depending on the variety of your fig tree, you might want to check the internet for pictures of when they are ripe. I'm used to how they look and feel and also if they come off the tree easily then I know they are ready. If I have to tug at it, it's still unripe. It's very hot here so I'm not motivated to do much. The only good thing is that it's so hot I don't really feel like overeating. I'm still trying to focus on getting in my healthy foods each day and hoping I can keep most of the junk food out of the house. Take care everyone!

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well. Sorry to not post this week. I got sick on Monday night (food poisoning I think) and it took me several days to feel better and even now I don't have much energy. I've haven't been eating much and also keeping to blander foods. I thought that might show up on the scale but when I weighed myself I'm the same weight I've been for a month or so now. Guess my body loves this weight The weather here is very nice and cooler with lower humidity, which is a joy after all the heat this summer. Hope you are enjoying nice weather and that you have a great weekend

hi. Dealing with a left leg that doesn't let me exercise. But just started today with calorie counting to eat 3 meals a day with a bag of frozen peaches 3 portions miked a day with Splenda. I am pre-diabetic I learned. Think I will have real oatmeal for breakfast starting tomorrow. I get meals on wheels weekdays for lunch and dinner and weekends dinner. I hope to lose weight finally.

Hello, may I join? I'm new to this journey and I really want to make progress, but I am finding it hard to know where to start :/
I'm 29 and I've always been overweight - but I'm now the biggest I've ever been (282 pounds with a BMI of 46) and I really want to lose weight.
I definitely overeat, but I don't eat particularly unhealthy stuff - but I could definitely cut down on carbs, I think. I do yoga and light exercise regularly and I don't think I'm particularly unfit, but I find it hard to do more vigorous exercise because of my size and knee problems.
I'm not sure what's the best plan to go for and I am embarrassed about seeking help because I'm so overweight and I just think people will look at me and think that I'm a lost cause!

Hello Everyone - Nice to see new and returning posters DotRen - Hope you feel better soon amrys - Sounds like you are doing well with meal planning and I hope that will help you with your weight loss. It's harder to lose when we can't be active, so hang in there I eat a lot of frozen fruit too. isabella11 - Welcome to the thread. I've weighed more than your current weight several times in my life and I always wished the first time I took it off when I was in my 20s that I kept it off, so I wish you success with that. I also didn't like to ask for help, it's so difficult. You are still so young, so I wish you success with losing weight now so you don't have a lifetime of dealing with it As for a program to use, all I can say is that you have to find one that you can stick with and that works for you. Most of the times I've lost weight I used whatever WW plan was out there, but I did do calorie counting once. Fortunately there are lots of great websites and apps that are out there now and hopefully you can find one that you like. If you've never done any WW points plans, you might want to try one of the older ones (Momentum or Points Plus) using the ITracks app. Many people really loved Points Plus. I lost a lot of weight on Momementum. If you want to just do some basic calorie counting, I think a lot of people use My Fitness Pal and set up an account on their website. I've been reading rumors that WW is revamping their plan later this year and so you might want to try that out when it comes out. Or if you are good with eating protein, fruits and vegetables and lower carbs and "treats" then maybe the current plan would work. Disclaimer - I don't know much about the current plan and have never been on it, some others here might be able to speak better on it. Based on my experience of losing and gaining over 100 pounds about 5 times as an adult is that each time I was successful I was on a plan that I fit into my lifestyle with foods I enjoyed and I didn't feel deprived very much. I also tried to make sure to drink water each day and be as active as I could. If I had kept on track and eating well on any of the plans I used I would not have gained the weight back. So almost any plan can work, but it just has to be what you can live with (and what works for your body). Hope all this information helps. If I could help one younger person not go through what I've gone through the last 30 years of my life, I'd be happy

cj59, you, too! I had food poisoning 1 time, from raw oysters, and I just wanted to die! I'm finally better today, wasn't up coughing all night. isabella: I do a low-carb plan (not WW approved ) and I enjoy it. I know, for me, trying to be 100% perfect 100% of the time really messes with my head. I allow myself a treat (not cheat!) once in a while, if I really want something, so I don't get into a deprivation mind-set. amyrs, have you looked at youtube for the "sit and be fit" program that was on PBS for years? You might find some comfortable exercises there sunrose49, hope the cookout went well

Good morning
isabella, welcome to the group. Everyone is so supportive and nice here. We pretty much are all doing different plans, but totally get the struggle. We are here for you. Don't feel bad or embarrassed about asking for help. I get it, but have been around the 200-210 weight for close to 4 or more years. I still go to WW meetings and I wondered if they thought I was a hot mess, but no one has ever treated me that way.
cj, wow so sorry you got sick. I had food poisoning once and it is not fun. Hope you get your energy back.
dotren, sorry you got a cold. Summer colds are no fun. Hope you are feeling better today.
Waving to all
The cookout was fun. Too much food, but gave a lot of it away. Got in a 2 mile walk yesterday since the weather has been cooler. I leave tomorrow for a few days to visit a friend. I'll be back on Saturday.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today DotRen - I feel for you with the food poisoning, it's the worst. There are foods that made me sick years ago that I will never eat again sunrose - Glad you enjoyed your walk and I hope you enjoy your visit with your friend. I'm doing pretty well I guess. I went grocery shopping today and some foods are creeping back into my house that I probably shouldn't buy, but I have avoided buying pie, cake, cupcakes, brownies and most cookies over this summer. I've also cut way back on using sugar, so those things have been a success for me. I'm going to start focusing on exercise again, since I've let that go. Take care everyone and have a great week!
