This thread is for anyone that has been away from healthy eating, had a gain and is recommitting. We accept all forms of healthy eating here, whatever that means to you. We touch base daily for accountability and to encourage one another. This is a judgment free zone.
We all struggle to get the weight off and keep it off. Sometimes this is a challenge, but we never give up and that is the key. Regardless of our situation or where we are in reaching our goal, we count on talking to each other every day and are blessed to have one another as friends.
Our motto is persistence, not perfection.

Good morning all and Happy Saturday!
It's a beautiful morning here. 72 degrees at the moment and humidity seems fairly low. The sun is out and the patio is perfect for morning coffee and a little reading. Of course, August means that we "might" get late afternoon thunderstorms, but those generally pop up and blow through pretty quickly.
We'll be heading out in a couple of hours to stop at Lowe's and pick-up the supplies to change the oil on the mower, do the grocery shop, and the farmer's market for a few tomatoes. Summer tomatoes and BLTs have been calling DHs name recently, so we're going to try to scratch that itch.
Overall it should be a pretty chill day here. Not much on the plan other than what was listed above. We might decide on yard work later, but we might also just enjoy the day and save that for tomorrow....we'll see.
Janet - I sent you a message here, if you want to check that and reply.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Hi Everyone, Only one more week left before going back to work..ugh but dont know that I could go any longer than this as I am getting bored too tho. Today I havent decided what I want to do but leaning towards going back to a different branch of the library and then stopping at Target on my way back as I need more coffee too. Our club is going to Longwood Gardens later but I am really not into looking at flowers and the expense either so not planning to go today. Tommorow though we are either going back to the beach or to this other park that has a sandy beach and a lake.(not an official club event) If the one guy goes from NJ goes we basically split the admittance fee between four of us. Its cheaper if he goes since he is a resident of NJ. We'll see if it actually happens as the event tonight will end late. I finally will have lunch with another friend on Friday that I havent seen for a while. Last summer we never were able to get together and I cant remember if we ever got together or not after that but I think not. Lora, enjoy your day hand I hope your husband gets his blt fix. Sounds good. I just got tomatoes at Aldis yesterday. Maybe I need some bacon too. I already have the lettuce too. Ok, I guess I need to get myself moving. Have a great day!

Hello everyone,
Lora, I have been enjoying those myself! My neighbor brought me some of their garden tomatoes, and I've been making them pretty often. I use a really tasty multi-grain bread and I like to add some slices of avocado, too. Yumm.. It is a beautiful morning here, too. I have a lot of yardwork ahead of me this weekend, but if it gets too hot, I can jump in the pool intermittently! Those afternoon showers do help to settle the dust and pollen, and water my flowers.
Janet, the summer seems to have flown by! Going to the beach sounds fun. I hope the guy goes, too, to keep the cost down. Have a fun visit with your friend!
I am glad to have this weekend off. I work the next two in a row, so hopefully I will get a lot done. I found out yesterday that a friend had passed away, of a sudden, massive MI. He was only 50. He was the chief of the ambulance company I work at now, and was the first person to offer me a job, believing in me as a brand new medic right out of class in 2000....I have been working there ever since, off and on, and I never forgot his mentoring and his help. He was also a medic, and we ran a lot of calls together, and had a lot of fun and laughs.
I am happy to say that I have now lost 10 lbs. I am down in the 170's again, and out of the 180's! I guess constant nausea and gastric issues have an up side! Ha! I am feeling better, so I am eating better and not having as many issues with some foods. I would really like to get back to some running again, as well, but for today yardwork will be my cardio! I hope everyone is having a good start to the weekend...I'll be back later - waving to all to follow!

Robin, Sorry to hear about your friend that just passed away suddenly. Hope you get done what you want to accomplish this weekend. Also, glad that you are beginning to feel better. It appears that maybe the medicine is beginning to help. Have a great day to Lora, Robin and all that follow.

Good morning, all. I am in a terrible funk today and I don't really know why. Feeling alternatingly tearful and bitchy, not at all nice to be around. Almost bit DN's head off this morning and had to apologize. Maybe a few hours of down time will help. I do want to go to the JJill store since they're having a big sale and I'm really sick of all my clothes, wear the same 4 or 5 things day after day, so hopefully some good deals there although shopping never does much to lift my mood. Going to a movie tonight called Maiden, about a woman who formed her own female crew to race in a huge sailing race when the men didn't think women could pull their weight. Maybe that will be uplifting and empowering. We may go out to dinner before.
I'm doing loads of laundry today and have to change my sheets. I don't feel like going to the gym although I always feel better afterwards so maybe I should push myself to go.
I wish the weekends were longer, so much to do - get my car washed and vacuumed, supermarket, yoga, gym, movie, out to dinner, meal plan and prep, just no way to get to it all. I got home really late last night after a concert in the city which was lovely and so fun but I didn't get to bed until after 2, and clearly that doesn't work for me.
I'll be back later if I feel more cheerful. No one needs to be subject to this grouchiness. Lora, sounds like a nice day planned. Janet, soak up that bored and restless feeling for when you get stressed at work. Hope you get to the beach today for me.
RobinMD I don't think I commented since you got your diagnosis. Ulcers are supposed to be so painful. Are you now taking meds for them? Hope you feel better really soon but great news on the weight loss at least. Also sorry about your former boss/mentor - that is such a young age to have an MI, no? So sad. It's unimagineable to think you'll never see him again, isn't it?
Oh boy, I am so not helpful today. Have a good day everyone and don't listen to me.

If we do go to the beach or the park with the beach it will be tommorow but the guy from NJ isnt going and I am not sure my other friend is that interested since she'll be getting back late tonight and may just prefer to go to the public pool we go to. In that case I am not interested in going with just him. I wasnt really in the mood to go to the library so decided to give it another try to go to the Target and Shoprite. It is closer to me but with the bus transportation involves a transfer to another bus unless I want to walk a long distance. This time I asked the driver on the way there where the bus stop was going in reverse and he pointed it out. Last time I had gone way out of my way to find a stop and missed some buses too because I wasnt at the stop yet. Now I am just going to chill, start reading the other book. Tonight I plan to watch one of the movies I didnt watch last week. I may do a load of laundry too but even that is relatively light even if I do my sheet for my bed. I have salmon and salad and maybe a potato for dinner. I may skip that since I had more carbs today already except for maybe a few croutons in my salad. Lora, I replied in your mailbox. Have a good rest of the day! p.s.- didnt realize I didnt log in and didnt want to start over.

Hi again, Oh Andi, as far as I'm concerned, this is a good place to be when you are feeling out of sorts....we certainly all have those days and can totally relate to the ups and downs that come our way. We know who you are The movie sounds really good! I hope it is a fun time. Janet, glad you thought to ask about the stops for the return trip! That will help... I did get a bit done today. I did all the riding mowing, and tomorrow is weed whacking and push mowing. It was hot today, but not too humid, and there were some high passing clouds that kept the sun from feeling too hot. Today, they brought the Chief home. He was transported from Baltimore (he must have been an M.E. case, where they verify cause of death) back to Clear Spring.... when the hearse reached the Frederick County/Washington County line, our ambulance and an engine (fire truck) from Clear Spring, accompanied him all the way back. They stopped at the station for a moment, and then on to the funeral home. I'll tell you, I am very emotional about fire department funerals. I have been to too many, but the respect and honor paid to the men and women who dedicate their lives to the work, is very comforting and brings us all together in memories shared. The station is draped in black bunting, and there will be stand-bys with him at the funeral home. Well, it is so nice to have a second day in a row, off. I didn't sleep good at all last night, so I'll probably get tired early. I hope everyone is having a nice weekend. I'll be back tomorrow...waving to everyone! RobinMD
