Whether you are regular poster or a lurker, we encourage you to talk with us. We do talk about books, but also about our lives, and Weight Watchers. We are women who are spread around the country, and eventually you will learn you we are, and what books we like to read. Don't be intimidated, just pop in and tell us who you are, and what you are reading now. We will make you feel right at home.
This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year old board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good morning. Another great looking morning. 68 already, supposed to be warm, humid and strong to severe storms later this afternoon-evening.
Gareth, I too feel like a broken record, when I give our weather report, the mornings have been so nice, haven't they? I am really getting spoiled to have those mornings like that. I will, for sure take the dress back, it will just have to wait till maybe next week. I agree with the a/c discussion, I am all for it, and as you, feel many businesses have their air on so cold, you have to wear a sweater, does that even make any sense? I bought strawberries the other day at one of our stores here, and decided to buy the organic, since they looked amazing, so I ended up paying $1.00 more. Their taste was great too. I love stopping at farm stands, but most of the time I do not have cash on me and I don't know if they are set up to take debit cards.
Robin, if we were to go back to that church, it would probably be at least a 25 minute drive, compared to 10 minutes before we moved. DH insists he would go back there if the Pastor left, but I am not so sure. Plus, for the church council to get rid of the Pastor, if at all possible, will most likely take a long time. So I am not holding my breath. How you felt, coming home late from the dinner is just how I felt coming home from the wedding, and knowing we wanted to get up early the next day, so we felt we had to settle into bed, and get tired quickly. Of course that did not happen. Hope you weren't too worn out yesterday.
As more of the details came out of the shootings from Saturday, it is just amazing how a man can come walking into a Walmart, calm as can be and just start shooting at customers. The news had video of that Walmart, right before the shooting started, and I was amazed at how many people were in there shopping! I don't think I have ever seen that many people in the Walmart we go to.
The birthday party for our grand daughter was fun. With it being at Bay Beach Amusement park, and that being spread out, I was able to walk over a mile. Mind you, when I dressed for the party, I was not thinking about how much I would be walking, so I did not wear correct shoes.
To the Y today, and tomorrow, as Wed starts all the busy ness.
Welcome back to all. Have a nice day.

Nice morning again but there was very little breeze so it felt warmer walking than it has been. As usual the weekend zipped right by so it's the start of another work week.
Karen, one report I heard said there was 5,000 people in that WM. That's kinda hard to believe. Our WM can get really busy but nowhere those kind of numbers.
Wish I had more time to chat but gotta get a shower and get my day going.

Good Morning----a very humid morning here, feels like 100% plus humidity. Very foggy when we got up but the sky is turning blue and clear now. Thunderstorms for this afternoon/evening. I am sorting through somethings today that I really do not think I need to keep and also going through photos.
Karen--sounds like the birthday party was a hit and what a great sounding place. What is all on your agenda come Wednesday?
Gareth--5,000 people WOW!!!
I am could get a call any day from DD that I need to report to duty with DGS's while they are at the hospital having the baby so getting things in order for being gone a couple of days as well. If I am missing for a few days you know that little guy has made his appearance.

Beautiful but cool morning today. Humidity will be back later this week.
Gareth, yes, I did get the recipe - thanks so much. Did you read Home Front? That was also by Kristin Hannah. Awhile back I saw someone on Pinterest “cutting” a watermelon with dental floss! The watermelon was quartered first then the floss was used. I just might try it someday.
Karen, I feel so bad for DD2. It must be terrible to wake up feeling that sick every morning. I’ll bet, since this began in childhood, it is celiac or something similar. I’m glad she’s having the necessary tests to determine what it actually is. I laughed about your “funeral” dress! Over the years our church has had to get rid of two pastors. Wouldn’t you know I was on the committee, both times, when it was needed! It’s not an easy, quick, process but it CAN be done. It takes documentation and communication with church councils. We did it twice.
It’s so disheartening to hear about another (two) shootings. What is going on in the minds of these young people today that they feel a need to do this. They are both in their early twenties. I’ll tell you our WM is one hectic, crazy place at any given time.
Pinky, enjoy those grandsons and good luck to everyone!

I hadn't heard 5000 at the Walmart, but I did hear it was at capacity, not sure what that is. I also heard that people cross the border to go to that store plus being a Saturday morning so that is why it was so crowded. It is enough to make you want to use the Walmart grocery pickup and not to go to places just to be safe. We have a security team at church and cameras at all the doors.
25 minutes is a long drive to church, but would be worth it if you feel most comfortable there and like the people.
The woman who didn't like the nursery being cleaned and rearranged is still upset. She is like a dog with a bone and just won't drop it. We have explained to her more than once why we made the changes we did, but she remains angry. It is one of those situations where we are sorry she is upset, but things aren't going to change back to how they were.
I went through all my photos a year or so ago. I scanned them onto the computer. I need to order some prints. I still like to put photos in albums. I've probably mentioned this, my parents had a house fire when I was in college and so all the photos were lost. Now I make sure mine are stored on the cloud. I scanned them and store them on Amazon. It is part of Amazon prime. The prints are real cheap, too.
Pinky, hoping the baby comes soon. What an exciting time for you!

I was about almost through going through the weekend posts and writing responses when someone came in my office and I had to close my files so sorry for no personals!
Our weekend “getaway” was fun. The Renaissance Faire was fun. Hot and crowded, but fun. I was amazed at how many people were there in costume, and these were heavy costumes, stockings and long cloaks, and I was in shorts and a blouse and hot! We enjoyed some of the performers and the jousting. DH and I had actually been to this Faire when we lived in Chicago over 30 years ago and it has grown a lot since then. Plenty of junk to buy. We didn’t buy souvenirs but there was also a lot of food and not so healthy that we bought. I had vegetable tempura – I can’t remember the last time I had that – so I had more than my share of deep fried stuff! From there we went down to the Chicago suburbs to our hotel, out for pizza for dinner. And then breakfast at our favorite Chicago area breakfast place. So it was a food frenzy, and now would be a good time to focus on healthy eating but we met ds for lunch so it was subs because that place is quick for ds and I to both manage to go on our lunch hours. Going away with our friends worked out fine. I was glad we were in a hotel and not an air bnb so we had a bit of space at the end of the day. They are going to Jamaica in January and a mutual friend is going with, they asked if we wanted to come but I'm afraid there is no budget for that sort of thing.
Karen – dd took her bf to Bay Beach Friday night after they had dinner. They only had time for the 2 ferris wheels before the park closed. They were apparently going to go back Saturday night but didn’t because of the rain. I think she has quite a few tickets left over - I'm going to tell her to take them to the neighbor to use with her 3 year old granddaughter. What is the problem with the Pastor?
I walked Mitzi this morning. It wasn’t hot but it was already very humid. We had a nice walk, just about 30 minutes which is all I had time for. She missed us while we were gone. Apparently she didn’t eat – the bowl of food I put down when I left was still there when I got home. DD said they played with her and gave her plenty of attention but she couldn’t get her to eat. So last night she ate 2 bowls of food and another one at breakfast this morning. DD had her sleeping on the floor in her room - she is usually locked in our room - so at 6am she jumped on dd's bed to tell her time to get up and let me out. DD was not happy but that is when we let her out every day.
So here I sit with my phone repeatedly telling me about t-storm warnings and dd has gone off somewhere to float down a river on a raft. Geez.

Sorry I more or less skimmed the posts.
Karen, glad you enjoyed DGD's party, and got exercise in too! I guess if things change at your old church you will make a decision about what you will do then. Sorry there is no other way around it.
Pinky, being able to be on call for your DD is great.
I had heard something like 3000 people in that Walmart, I just can't imagine that, or that big a Walmart for that matter.
Marsha, your weekend sounds great. Of course we always find delicious things to eat when we are places that we normally don't go.
Anngie, what ended up happening with that bridal shower you went to? Did your neighbor across the street say anything to you about it? You were probably worrying for nothing.
I have had a busy day today. I met someone at DM's house this morning. We thought he might be able to re-sell some of her furniture, but he said maybe one or 2 things. People don't want the kind of things she has. Then dealing with my DB & DS on things. My DB can get obnoxious, but he keeps saying he doesn't want anything, then now wants to take things we have discussed numerous times, which we certainly don't care about, but tell us yes or no. We don't want them! We are doing a different kind of staging now, and really need things cleared out.

As far as the two shootings go, has anyone seen the thing that is going around now comparing what someone has to go through to get an abortion, vs. what they need to do to buy a gun? If you google it, it's pretty interesting. Apparently various people have written about this. Somewhat tongue in cheek, but it is so true.

Robin, they don’t know yet, apparently. We received our invitation last week. They probably expect to receive it soon!

I found a new home for my childhood piano. Apparently there is no resale market for old baby grand pianos. I asked on my local Facebook group if anyone was interesting in taking it. A young couple who moved in further up my block came to measure yesterday, and she texted me that it will fit and she is getting a mover to come and move it. I pass their house almost every day when I walk my dog, I have seen the husband a few times, but not the wife who came to look at it.
